i don't think the church is a law court. If Paul got justice from the church, he should be dead for killing people.

Paul did what he did as an unbeliever and we know that the times of ignorance God has given a pass. A pastor is a different kettle altogether. What would you say of this pastor in the link below who allegedly impregnated a lady and connived with her to evacuate the unborn baby. The lady died in the process. Should the church restore the pastor to his position after forgiveness?

If God forgives the pastor, there is no reason why the church should not forgive the pastor. The real issue though is that many of these people are not even genuine christians in the first place, just people soiling the name of God by titles. But if a genuine christian sins and is restored to the kingdom, it should be a small thing to be restored to church work(if he is still genuinely interested). Only thing is strings may be attached so as to avoid a repeat and to help the fellow. Paul fumbled as an unbeliever, but Peter, David, Jonah, John Mark, Samson all made their fumbles after being men of God. i think God's forgiveness and restoration was the same.

If Jesus treats us this way, none of us will stand today.

He talks about Adultery as though adultery as not as damning as pride (which by the way is loaded in this article).
Adultery is seen when it is committed, who sees Pride, Malice and unforgiveness?

If someone falls and repents, that's it. Na you call am into ministry to determine when he leaves?

We are talking about those who were once born again rose through the ranks to become a pastor in a church and not just to be restored to church work but to the position as a pastor of the flock. How will the vulnerable whose lives had been destroyed or the parents whose daughter has been killed through the abortion attempt at the hands of the pastor, feel when being ministered to by this same pastor?

The same God that forgives is also a the same God of Justice. The church should forgive the pastor but must it foster the repentant pastor on the vulnerable flock again? This is where the world is doing better than the church, if a care worker or teacher has been adjudged to have committed sexual abuse on the vulnerable wards, after serving his term he would be placed on a sex register not to work with the vulnerable again but in the church he would be allowed to continue from where he stopped. We don't seem to have learnt any lesson from the child abuse prevalent in the Roman Catholic Church.

Samson's case was that of immorality and did he not pay with his own life?

Only Jesus can qualify us, no one is qualified themselves to be a pastor but the question is; Is a pastor not disqualified from his position, not his position in the body of Christ but as a Pastor in the Lord's church.

Adultery actually starts in the mind/heart as Jesus said in Matthew 5:28 but he can be forgiven if he repents. The article is not saying that they cannot be forgiven but are you saying that the victims should accept him as their pastor after their trust has been broken? undecided

Preaching to me is not exclusive to Pastors alone so we are not talking about preaching here. Let me break it down a bit. If you have a daughter who was impregnated by your pastor and she died as a result and you later found out that the pastor was responsible for your daughter's death, if the pastor admits to his sin and repents and is forgiven by God and is then restored to the pulpit as a pastor, would you comfortable sit under his ministration?

This is exactly why I feel the secular world is doing better protecting the vulnerable in the society. Look at how this same attitude allowed the pastor who abused Busola Dakolo to go unpunished and the religious folks feel righteous in saying that the pastor has been forgiven by God. No one is considering the plight of the victims until the secular world steps in to bring about "justice." undecided

"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid" (Matthew 5:14).

If the world didn't take them serious why was it said that His disciples turned the world upside down? He made history, as a matter of fact it was His-story. The world is still referencing the date according to Christ (B.C. and A.D.) Should I go on?

Anas09:

Unforgiveness is a grave sin Olaadegbu

The difference between apples and oranges is clear. God forgives sinners and backsliders (including pastors) from all iniquities when they repent, no one is arguing about that. While it is agreed that their sins had been forgiven the misguided "church" is getting it wrong that their should be no restitution or justice because he/she has been forgiven. Jesus forgives and is just. There should be forgiveness and justice. Does it even sound right for the world to say that you cannot find justice in the church except in the courts of law?

The affected will feel same way they'll feel anytime they see him or remember him, pastor or no pastor. It's up to them to truly forgive who God has forgiven, else they'll unfortunately go to hellwhile he may go to Heaven. That's the funny side of forgiveness.

The same God that forgives is also a the same God of Justice. The church should forgive the pastor but must it foster the repentant pastor on the vulnerable flock again? The same God of forgiveness and justice had dealings with Peter, David, Miriam, Jonah, Samson, Nebuchadnezzar and co. These all kept their titles sir. i believe if Samson had asked for more from God, he'd have got more. He got exactly what he requested.
