To prove jews from hell are truly cursed this nitwit will discredit the video we could see with our naked eye with Gowon releasing Awolowo but he'd want us to believe his Igbotic narrative of Ojukwu freeing Awo without a pix talk less of a video. That is the extent to which this jews from hell are plagued with chronic foolishness https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMNa4671Yuw WeneWali: 7 Likes |

It's just that your bigoted father do not have a thing to prove that but you expect us to ignore the video we just watched where Gowon released Awolowo n the New York time of 1966 narration of how Gowon released him for the word of your bigoted mouth. You Igbos are too foolish. Was Nigeria prepared to wage a civil war militarily on it own state ? Did the Igbos at that time not make up a reasonable percentage of the army ? Did the Biafra army ever complain of inadequate manpower at anytime during the war ?! NwaAro: 3 Likes |

gidgiddy: But it made sense to you that a regional military governor will release a prisoner jailed for treason against the Federation and the new head of the nation will lead a "welcome home" delegation to meet the said prisoner whilst grinning from ear to ear like a satiated Cheshire cat owner who has just given his cat, her favourite brand of cat food. Wouldn't the logical thing to do be for gowon to immediately place awo in chains (as a federal prisoner) that he was until he decides his fate? Surely, gowon would not want to share the credit (for awo's release) nor its ambiguity with a pompous recalcitrant impish oaf like ojukwu. 4 Likes |

Very well, we all you claim know Ojukwu took no order from Gowon, if Ojukwu truly released Awolowo on his own volation why then did Awolowo need to meet Gowon with the press covering that as his release instead of covering him with Ojukwu ? gidgiddy: 1 Like |

T9ksy: Why would Gowon want Awo put in chains? A free Awolowo was of better use to him than an Awolowo in jail so as to get support from the Western Region. The point Im trying to make is that it would not have been possible for Gowon to have released Awolowo. On the 29th of July 1966, Ironsi was killed in a coup by Northerners. The next few days was filled with uncertainty and confusion. Hardly anyone knew if Ironsi was dead or alive. Brigadier Ogundipe was sending Gowon to go to Ikeja barracks to negotiate with the coupist, nobody knew where Fajuyi was, Ojukwu was calling Ogundipe asking him to temporarily take over until there was clarity on the whereabouts of Ironsi. Even Ogundipe had to seek refuge on a ship for fear of his life. But what some people want us to believe is that in those first few chaotic days, Gowon, managed to control of government and order the release of Awolowo in a Region that did not recognise him as head of state. Anyone who follows the timeline would know that the story of Gowon releasing Awolowo cannot be true |

Top1gun: The video shows Gowon releasing Awolowo in Lagos, but Awolowo was Calabar prison. So how can Gowon be releasing Awolowo in Lagos when Awolowo was in Calabar? This is just a video of Awolowo meeting Gowon in Lagos after Awolowo was released. The video even shows Awolowo in even arriving at the venue in his own car, showing he was already a free man |

gidgiddy: How could you ask such a dumb question ? I bet you often wonder why folks tend to question your IQ. Awo was in chains when Gowon took over the reins of govt in the country for treasonable felony. Both parties needed Awo's support but a regional military administrator has no powers to release a federal prisoner. The Head of prisons service in nigeria is certainly not beholden to a regional governor. On August 1, 1966, Gowon announced by radio that he had taken the title of Supreme Commander and Head of the Military Government and his act was to rescind Ironsi's infamous decree 34. One major figure was not a party to this agreement and immediately denounced it: the Military Governor of the Eastern Region, Col Ojukwu. The other 3 military governors were in agreement with gowon's announcement. Ojukwu's denouncement however was predicated on gowon's adoption of the title Supreme Commander but not as Head of the Military govt of nigeria. 5 Likes |

"If Awo had resisted Gowon, trust me Awo would have been killed quickly and easily" Please can you expantiate on this statement above? What kind of resistance would have gotten Awolowo killed? What would have been the reaction of Yoruba solders/elites if Awolowo had been killed? Would they have still supported the North in the war after seeing their most famous kinsmen Awolowo killed? Northerners killed Fajuyi and Yoruba Military did noting and went ahead to support the north in the war. They hounded Ogundipe the next-in succession to Ironsi out of Nigeria. They didn't even regard Wey and Adebayo who were ahead of Gowon. Yet again Yoruba Military did nothing. If Gowon had killed Awolowo as you asserted and the Yoruba Military had still gone ahead to support them in the civil war, what would you have called Yoruba Military? Why informs your believe that Gowon would have killed Gowon given the fact that was unsure of his position and had no control of the whole country, and more importantly lacked the intelligence, experience and knowledge to run complex country like Nigeria? Why did Awolowo and Yorubas join the north to fight against Biafra? Lastly, why did the North fight the civil war - Nigerian Unity or One Nigeria where they will dominate the country and politically structure it to their advantage? Top1gun: |

"Ojukwu's denouncement however was predicated on gowon's adoption of the title Supreme Commander but not as Head of the Military govt of nigeria" That;s not true. Ojukwu did not recognize Gowon from day one - regardless of the title he gave himself. In fact Ojukwu said his ascension into office of H.O.S was illegal and unconstitutional. The northern military governor (Katsina) recognized Gowon because power had returned back to the north. What you should interrogate is why the 3 southern governors - particularly Adebayo of Western Region and Johnson of Lagos accepted without any whiff of protest, the imposition of a junior office over them, selected exclusively by northerners with no input from an Yoruba or Igbo military personal. This is where the seeds of northern domination of Nigeria via Nigerian Military was planted under the watchful eyes of southern officer excluding Ojukwu T9ksy: |

Why would Gowon kill Awo? Muritala even drove him home in his personal car, calling it a privilege... Awo is a God given legend for ever... IN LOVING MEMORY OF CHIEF OBAFEMI AWOLOWO.. MAY 9,1987 Jakande was sentenced to jail just like his boss, Awolowo. But Jakande was crying in the court not because of himself but for Awolowo. When Awolowo saw him, approached him and asked him "why crying for only me..." Jakande replied "I don't mind going to jail and even adding your terms to mine, why South.West, why is it that the only Premier in Nigeria that will be jailed is the Premier of my Region?". Awolowo replied "Dry your tears, God sometimes keep his own away when danger is approaching...." And that was what happened! The reason why Nigeria didn't break in 1967 was Obafemi Awolowo. Gowon said "I needed him badly more than I needed the Nigerian Army".....Why? Two reasons; 1. The original rallying point of the Yoruba was Awolowo. If Yoruba supported the break up, no Jupiter can stop it. Therefore, to keep Nigeria one, Awolowo must endorse it!!!! 2. The wisdom of Awolowo was unequalled, unparalleled and unrivalled. His wisdom must not be on the side of the rebel, Nigeria would not survive without it. No wonder the two Warriors Gowon and Ojukwu said and I quote; "I am the luckiest ruler of Nigeria because the best Nigeria asset in person of Chief Awolowo was my Vice Chairman and Finance Commissioner..."- Gowon. "Chief Awolowo is the best President of Nigeria that never was..."- Ojukwu. Need I say more? Murtala Mohammed had ensured in his Transition Programme that Shehu Shagari would not contest but after his death, OBJ relaxed the rules.....Shagari was allowed to contest and won but in 1984, Buhari stopped Shagari again, describing his election as "shamelessly rigged"....... NCNC was the popular Party in Lagos. They always won Lagos. And Awolowo's Action Group would have lost in 1954 if not because the Yoruba quickly considered him and dropped Zik THE SECRET OF AWOLOWO.... Awolowo deliberately spent a lot of money in establishing exclusive investments for the Western Region where he thought the SW Progressive Politics would be financed. He said "SW need stable source of fund to fight politically because a poor people cannot fight the Central Government...". No one knew this secret until his Deputy had issues with Awolowo and leaked the secret to the opponent. He told them "fight Awolowo from now till forever, if you didn't destroy the Western Nigerian Investments, SW will always be buoyant financially and they will fight you and win you...." Wow!!!!! That was the end!!! From that time, to cut the story short, SW was targeted! AWO was accused of fraud. Investments converted to Full state investment and later Odu'a Investment. And later, during the military regime, there was a time when all SW governors were non Yorubas, Odu'a investment was crushed. Cold dead! But LAGOS of Tinubu reinvested the progressive interest in a more sophisticated way. MAY THE SECRET OF LAGOS NOT BE LEAKED THE WAY ENEMIES LEAKED THE SECRET OF SW!!! The Story of Progressive Politics in Nigeria since 1954 had its Genesis from Awolowo's Palm Tree. We must never forget the families of Obafemi Awolowo, Lateef Jakande, Bisi Onabanjo, Bola Ige, Adekunle Ajasin, Ambrose Ali, Adebayo, JS Olawoyin, Anthony Enahoro, Abraham Adesanya, S.O Gbadamosi, Bode Thomas.....These are first generation of progressive politicians who played progressive politics for life!!! UP AWO!!!! Simple but Notable. When Awolowo arrived Lagos from Calabar Prison, after meeting with Gowon, it was Murtala Mohammed who voluntarily drove Awolowo home, in his personal car. Murtala described the gesture (driving Awolowo) as a privilege!!! copied. 1 Like 1 Share
