ijustdey: Nigeria clearly don't have what it takes to lockdown 200m human beings like the way other civilized nations have done successfully. Another total lockdown especially in a heavily populated state like Lagos may result in a revolt by the people. How can you order poor people to remain indoors for weeks and later be giving them 2 cups of rice and beans that is if u are even lucky? In many states govt officials that are responsible for distributing the food items will make sure that only indigens of the states are the ones who are getting the govt palliatives so how can the lockdown be effective? 2 Likes |

I would have ordinarily support lockdown but with our testing capacity of just 29, 408 which means if our population of 200M is taking into consideration 1 out of every 6,800 is being tested. Which is very bad. The essence of lockdown is for you to buy time and stay ahead of the virus and why doing this your people will not take the whole brunt of the hardship as you are expected to make provision for them why testing rapidly. We might have no choice but to live with the virus for now as we are not known to get anything right. This is a choice between economy and health..which is a bigger risk to take? 2 Likes |

Abeg who voting epp? This is indeed turning to a game.. so if majority say, 80% voted against lockdown then, would they have followed and allowed the mass to roam aimlessly even while face mask and social is not efficient?... how clueless! Whether it's lockdown or not economy will still be wrecked... it's the level of severity that differs. Now for a government who is really ready for development, the lockdown will have to be established with adequate provisions and palliatives for the innocent citizens.. while the WAY OUT is tirelessly being worked upon through all possible means.... as fast as possible ! 2 Likes |

Ask any of the people that have ever caught it, someone from kano or someone who might have lost a soul to this scourge if a full lock down should be reinstated, they have had first hand experience of what we are dealing with. We need to wait this out else, when those with full lockdowns start to recovery, we would be back to square one. Only the living worry about the economy |
Re: COVID-19: Lagos Lockdown Online Vote by Farki: 9:24pm On May 13, 2020 |
Seun: Just last week I went out for only 3 hours and I saw. - People crowding a car boot to receive whatever was inside - people pulling down facemasks and fighting - crowded streets and markets. -some were not even wearing any face mask. - people continuing to touch their faces Anyone who says that we will follow any science based rules is deceiving themselves. Some don't even think this is real and see no need to protect themselves. In the rush to save the economy we might end up making it worse by killing a lot of people and keeping Nigeria locked down while other countries open up. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Twitter that is full of crazy reprobate children that don't have 10kobo sense other than to be fooling around and wasting their lives on vain frivolities, and telling stories of how they do abortion with boiling ring. Those are the kind of fools this hopeless government wants to decide how 30 million plus Lagosians live their lives. Is like this government has run totally mad 5 Likes |

Chikelue2000:What has poverty got to do with whats on ground. Maybe u need a remainder. Lagos is conducting an online vote for either lockdown ease to remain or otherwise. Note: both the poor and the rich, strong and the weak and the literate and illiterate are all suffering from this pandemic. |

Seun: This is Nigeria where motorists, people, market places, etc have thrown caution to the wind. Are you not in Lagos to see how people disregard simple instruction to wear nose mask and observe social distancing? I don't like the lockdown idea but if it is to correct the stubbornness of people, Lagos should enforce it with immediate effect. 3 Likes 1 Share |

sonnie10: Which lockdown? Pray which country has solved this corona issue with lockdown? Lockdown is not the solution if it is people would have stopped dying in the USA, during the last lockdown wasnt the rate of infection and death increasing? After the ease of lockdown hasnt the rate of death decreased, please think outside the box, lockdown is not a panacea, if you destroy the economy you will realize that your fear of death is only because you are comfortable, in the face of total chaos, you will look for death! STOP PLAYING WITH THE ECONOMY THINK VENEZUELA! THINK ZIMBABWE!! 1 Like |
