the company could have a quota system in place, perhaps they know it's still difficult for females to gain entry on that level in that company(for whatever reasons),& clearly they are looking for someone who is qualified for the position.

Females should not be paid less if they have the same qualifications, work the required hours & in the same environment.

I thought you'de be talking about female developers vs Male developers in the same company ,working in the same environment & working the same hours, that's usually how it works in my experience.
