|Should I Expose Them? by Abbeylanre15(m): 3:25pm On May 21|
I work in finance company and I'm in charge of all accounts. All monies are been remitted to me. The M.D of this organization is such a generous but uneducated woman. My colleagues are leveraging on this to siphon organization's funds to their various pockets. I'm not oblivious of this fact because I'm so sensitive to things around me,but I am d God fearing type that won't participate in such a dirty act.
I've called majority of those in this illicit act privately to warn them and let them know the implications. But to my utmost surprise, the bull-shit keep getting high and d MD is not the type to tell such hidden things, she will reveal the identity of her Intel.
The problem now is that,if this act persist, the company may go bankrupt sooner than later. Even though, the job is not worth dying for, half bread they said it's better than none. I can't afford to be jobless.
Please advise me on what to do?
NB: I'VE SUBMITTED APPLICATION TO OTHER COMPANIES BUT NO RESULT YET.

Lol! Funny World
No wonder Nigeria is still where we are today in the name of minding one's business
Op do not listen to people telling you to mind your business; your job is at stake here because of their actions and inaction which failure of you to report to the MD or appropriate authority might bring a lot of regret to you in the future.
So do not allow yourself to be part of their criminal act by the world's opinion of minding your business, speak out today and be free, beside, you owe yourself, MD and company a duty to report such actions.

But this woman is too nice to everyone of us for her to suffer such fate. What if she goes bankrupt? We will all find another job,but she will be left alone to lick her wound

Abbeylanre15:Life itself is not fair. Suffering and pain is part of human existence.
You are in a dilema any action you take now you will still end up hurting someone.
If you report: you are going to put your co-workers and their family in trouble, they will lose their job and they will also go to jail if not for life.
If you choose not to report you will be harming the md and she might lose her business.
either ways you are going to hurt people.
And as such i will advice you to focus on yourself and mind your business.

If you don't inform your MD and they later get caught and the police get involved. You re as guilty as they are when the police or your MD come to know that you knew about the incessant thefts and kept quiet.
Believe me if they re going to prison, you re too.
You re the accountant it is your duty to report such to your MD ASAP.
Those thieves won't stop till you wreck your MD.

You re a wicked and callous person to know all these about the poor woman and still kept quiet, delaying to let her know.
If she goes bankrupt tomorrow, you re culpable!! If they run her company down and she dies of debt or depression, her blood will also be on your hands!

I pity you!
You will soon go to prison for what you didn't do.
When they are caught and handed over to th e police, police drilling will start and believe me once they mentioned (which they must) that you are aware of the theft, the police will come for you. you re going to prison with them.

Bro pls go ahead and blow d whistle. Since u r hands are clean, whatever b d action later won't affect u because u will definitely b justified. I had similar experience in a commercial bank where I worked, I blew d whistle and even d bank's MD got to know, more Dan 300staffs were involved and lost their jobs, while d investigations were ongoing by d internal control, compliance and security Dept, d guys threatened to kill me, I received diverse calls, all day n night but I stood my ground because I was a strong man so threats na small tin. Las Las we went to onikan zone2 AIG office for invitation, all Account were put on PND including mine, we got there de told AIG i was involved but no evidence to back up..I kept all d mails of deir fraudulent activities. Eventually d banks lawyer stood for me and I returned back to my Job smiling, I was celebrated with a promotion..tho I had left for anoda bank but I kept referring people for job's and it's been granted cos Eva since d incident I av a cordial relationship with d MD, HEAD HR, and oda top mgt staffs. We chat on WhatsApp. I left because I was offered x3 pay in anoda bank and that's part of banking career progression. I wish u d best.

Expose them and feel no guilt, have the conviction that you are doing what is right, then your mind will be at peace.
Don't mind those asking you to mind your business, some of them might be engaged in similar activities, where they works.
Know that if any goes wrong in that company, you'll live with the guilt forever, there's this joy in doing what is right, even if it doesn't favor you.

Reminds me of my experience as an Industrial Training (I T) Student 300 L second semester Engineering student back then in an oil company in Bayelsa state.
After the HR processing, (medical, swimming test etc) for new intakes i was posted to Community Relations Department of the company and met my supervisor and HOD.
Two weeks into my job, my supervisor had to go on a compulsory 2 weeks leave and I was recommended for his temporary replacement given my exemplary leadership disposition. On my first day as the new supervisor in charge of ensuring all the speedboats to and fro the Rig are fueled and issued safety gadgets, I discovered a massive undercover deal between my supervisor, the company's boat drivers and the Beach Master running into several hundreds of thousands if not millions daily.
Here's a BRIEF detail of the deal.
Depending on the number of staff scheduled for rig trip for that day, each speedboat carrying the required number of staff to and fro the rig is officially entitled to and given a daily 400 litre of fuel. So Admin office sends their list of staff going on Rig for that day, Community Affairs Supervisor adds extra 'ghost' names and beach master adds his own names thereby increasing number of supposed staff and speedboat going to rig for the day. For instance, say only 90 staff members including security personnel are really going on Rig for that particular day requiring only about 9 speedboats (10 on each boat) but on Supervisor and beach master's list you'll see 150 with several extra security boats, that means more boats would be added for the trip to be issued with 400 litres of fuel for that day. Meanwhile, fuel will be issued to all the boats including the extra 'ghost' ones that will collect fuel without going on any trip. The extra stolen fuel would be sold to black market fuel dealers right there at the jetty and all parties collects their shares.
This is just one aspect of the fuel deal. The safety (PPE) deal is another day's story cos the same contractor that supply's the PPE to the company had his boys around to pick and re-supply when fresh orders are made.
So on my first day in charge, I'd received the daily manifest from the Admin Office and my team (my official driver and security) headed for the jetty. I met the beach master (whom by this time had been briefed about me as the new temporary supervisor).
I got to work and presented the manifest for the day and we calculated how many boats would be scheduled for the trip including their PPE's for that day. The boat drivers and their union excos were all in the beach master's office with me at the jetty and I went ahead to brief them on the day's work. I told them we would have only 9 boats for that day and that the rest should leave and return the next day cos I noticed there were several excited boat drivers at the jetty waiting to be fueled.
As soon as I mentioned only 9 boats, I noticed increased side-comments and murmuring. Then one of the boat drivers asked the beach master in a very deep thugish voice "Una neva tell am watin dey?"
I looked at the beach master and he looked away from me as if saying please i don't want trouble.
The boat drivers then excused themselves from the room and asked to speak with the beach master alone outside. After their deliberation outside, they all came in and agreed to let me into the deal requesting my co-operation and participation in sharing the proceeds. They brought out another list and by the time they were done with their juicy explanation and calculation, I was seeing a share they called mine somewhere around N480,000 just for the fuel side for that day. This was sometime in 2002.
I didn't have to think twice about compromising or giving in to this plan. I KNEW I WILL NEVER BE A PART OF THIS FROM THE ONSET. All the while they were speaking and thinking they'd convinced me, what was going on in my mind was how to get out of this without getting strangulated by these desperate cabal. After their spokesman stopped talking for awhile and asked if I was in? I took a very deep breath and asked if they could let me sleep over it and give them an answer by the next morning. At first some wanted to protest insisting that I didn't have any choice and wondering why they were even giving me an opportunity to decide but somehow, they agreed to my plea and we also agreed to schedule only the required boats (9) no extra for that day pending my decision by the next day.
Next day ....

Better tell your boss.
You keep quiet, they keep doing it, you'd still lose the job.
So, just tell her.

Write an anonymous letter to your MD and make sure you state in details what's going on and how the culprits will be nabbed. Make sure you remain anonymous cos most of these MDs can be funny sometimes. They might name the whistle blower in the process.
Same thing is happening in my office and if you report, my Md will say so so person said this, so we sit back and watch them siphon someone's sweat.
Second thought, you can face ya front and pray to get a better place.
