They don't invite Oba of Bini and have him mock Ndiigbo. They don't invite Gowon(whose government committed genocide against Ndiigbo) and name edifices after him, while claiming that they were saved from Igbos by Gowon.

It’s quite obvious that a lot of illiterates who don't know their history are foolishly falling for the Ikwerre games. I'm not surprised by the comments of some myopic Igbos here. Why I won't blame them is because, many of them are followers of IPOB and know nothing about what goes on in this country. Amaechi in 2015 famously asked GEJ to stop treating Ikwerres like Biafrans in response to Rivers state losing their oil wells to Abia state in court during GEJ presidency.
Amaechi was referring to the deliberate removal of Oil producing territories from SE done by Mammar Nasir boundary adjustment committee in 1975. Which Rivers state was a beneficiary of.

Amaechi has many times rightly referred to Ndiigbo as "they", because deep inside, he knows he is a Bini Ikwerre man and not Igbo.


The point remains that any Ikwerre man is a Bini man and had stopped being Igbo since 1970, they have also been very confrontational at being called Igbo. They have profited from Nigeria inflicted marginalization against Igbos since 1970.

Ikwerre does not need Ibos to tell them they are Ibos. If truly they were the other ethnic group in Rivers State would have mentioned so. Ogoni people dont see Ikwerre as Ibos. They know us right from time. Kalabari people would have. If no other ethnic group does, Okrika with all their court cases with Rebisi people would have mentioned it. No ethnic group in Rivers State sees Ikwerre as Ibos. Only Ibos try to coerce the Ikwerre that they are Ibos. Surprisingly those who say this have not been to Rivers State before to have a first hand information on this. Most Ibos living in Rivers State dont see Ikwerres as Ibos.

He will not. He may claim Ibo if it is convenient for him. Let me tell you why. In the late 17, 18, 19 and even up to later part of 20 century, Ikwerre land had a lot of Aro priests and Aro people living with us. They had so much influence, just as the Fulani had and still have in Hausa land. Cases were settled in their shrines.
Then came the civil war. Many of them who could trace their roots to Ibo land ran back. Those who could not stayed behind and we still know them, they could be found mostly in Ikwerre LGA and Emuoha LGA. Although they have mixed with us there is still some resentment about their offspring. They are still segregated in some certain things. I personally dont support this.
Amaechi could claim a descendant of the Aro vestiges in Ikwerre land. If he does that he is an Ibo person through his grand parents.
