socialmediaman: Someone goes to public and releases damaging lies to tarnish the image of another. The victim sues his accuser for criminal defamation, and one unfortunate human somewhere calls it "stifling the press and freedom of speech". Does freedom of speech also entail publicly dropping malicious lies against another? Sometimes one just wonders how people go in public and talk like they don't have sense. 3 Likes |

socialmediaman: Bros, is your brain paining you? VP with executive power is suing a blogger and liar in a court of law and you're saying he is using influential position? How? So what do you want VP to do when his name and reputation is slandered? |
Re: Osinbajo Wants Jackson Ude Prosecuted For Defamation by socialmediaman: 7:59pm On Jul 09, 2020 |
Arewa1408: There he comes again! He ran away from the other debate when he was caught dissembling! Quick to call blogger a liar and acquit the VP of all charges. If the guy wasn’t in the US he’ll be in chains by now, we know that. That’s why he’s in court to show people like you that he’s innocent, knowing the guy won’t dare step foot in Nigeria. Why not go to the US and sue the guy there? Or write the embassy to extradite him for trial? socialmediaman:But there's nothing wrong in filing a petition against a social media accuser. Jackson Udeh should show the Police a proof of his allegation. You can't just go online to accuse someone without proof. I stand with Osinbajo on this one but this doesn't mean he is innocent yet. |

You see the problem with these cursed potopoto people is that they know how to look for trouble but when they get punished for it, they will quickly play victim and start crying. That's when they will be chanting that they are being punished because they are igbo. That was how one them accused house of rep members of collecting millions of bribe from Bill Gates. When they invited the animal to come show proof, his fellow ipob miscreants went on twitter and started crying that he has been arrested and being harassed because he is igbo. Very pathetic. |

jaxxy: Defamation is personal; only the defamed truly knows if he/she is defamed: Did Osibande say GEJ stole or how did he defame GEJ? What I recall hearing is GEJ's govt and PDP not GEJ personally. Is there any govt that is not corrupt? Furthermore, political campaigns and talks are often friendly jabs and ignored by politicians (perhaps they all have an unwritten agreement btw them ) and seriously, who takes Naija politicians' statement serious since time immemorial . But a news media/journalist should never get in the mud, except he/she can prove it. Rules of engagement are different for different professions: a journalist must only go to press with proof not a politician. We all want a better society but it can not be achieved publishing falsehood/unsubstantiated/sensational news. The fourth realm is as important in our society and should not go to the dogs. It is VP today, it could be you or I tomorrow. Fake news does no one any good. We need investigative journalism that exposes not defame so we can trust every hard-working journalist out there. I do not hold brief for VP or anyone oooo. 1 Like |
