The freezing wind blew round the compound filled with the pungent odour of dead bodies. The wind blew furiously and rushed into the house through the opened door, it blew past the living room, up the stairs and finally to the corridor where bodies lay scattered on the tiled floor.
His skin recieved the force of the cold air, the sense nerves quickly springing up to life. The signals of the cold travelled up to his unconscious brain which quickly woke up to life and sent the cold all over his body.
He was jolted out of his unconsciousness and he opened his eyes not making sense at what he saw around him. His brain was just regaining itself back. Then he tried to lift his head up, but a smarting ache at his temples and back of his coconut head forced him to drop his head back to the floor.
His brain began functioning again as he began remembering what happened before he fainted. Hazy memories flooded his mind, the emergency call...the speed to the house...the limping lady...the dead bodies...the lady he shot at but dodged the bullets...the knockout...the...the...
Agent Desmond's eyes rovered round weakly and rested on the lady near him. With alacrity and vigour, he sprang up from the floor, forgetting about the now dull ache in his temples. He rushed to the lady, who had a massive lump on her head like her head was hit on something hard. Her head was also dangling somehow on her neck like it was snapped. His heart thumped hard in his chest as he knelt beside the lady and felt her pulse.
She was dead, he knew. He screamed as a tear dropped from his eyes, then two, followed by torrents. Sandra, the dead lady was still undergoing training and was intelligent and pretty. She was one of the best gun handlers among those still training. Besides she was his girlfriend, and they were so much in love with each other.
'Sandra, you can't leave me just like that... you promised to always be with me always, that even death can't separate us...rise up... stand up!... Sandra...ha ha,' he wept bitterly.
'your killers would soon be behind bars. I must get them, even at the cost of my life. Rest in peace dear, till we meet to part no more,' he said solemnly.
He rubbed his tears with the back of his left hand, bent forward and kissed her lips lightly. He stood up and shook his heads in pity and sadness as he gazed at the five dead bodies on the corridor.
He remembered that Agent Ray was on the trail of a suspect and would have tried to connect with him when he was knocked out. He felt his pockets for his phone, dug into his backpocket and brought his android device out. He saw that the screen was a little bit broken but still in good working condition.
He felt his ears for the device wedged in his left ear and saw it was intact, he tapped it on and his phone quickly found it. He connected with Seargent Ray.
RECIPIENT UNREACHABLE. CONNECTING HARDWARE NOT RECOGNISED,
came out on the screen of his phone. He quickly clicked on the CCTV app meant for the police, scanned through several footages and clicked on the one he saw the other police car being captured. He fast forwarded it and cried when he saw the car burning.
'Good day. Here is the emergency news reaching you from the network of Splendid T.V. My name is Emmanuel Okon...,' a voice sounded from the flat screen T.V in the sitting room.
Chief Williams glanced up from his phone where he was playing Subway Surfers at the T.V. He hissed and focused back on his phone. He was obsessed with the game when his erect rabbit-like ears picked something from the T.V.
'A governorship aspirant of Nyar State, the famous Chief Martins Adebayo was recently assassinated in one of his houses at an undisclosed location this morning, along with his security guards. An eye witness...'
Chief Williams jumped up in joy and started singing in excitement. With Chief Martins now out of the way, he had no problem in becoming the next governor of Nyar. His phone rang, he lowered the volume of the T.V and checked the caller, it was Miri. He excitedly picked it.
'Miri, I just saw the news. Gosh, you're so good!'
'Forget about that! I want my account to be fed. I must get an alert now.'
'Yes, yes. You're so intelligent...,' he rambled on.
'Chief!' she scolded.
'I'm now listening.'
'Good, now, in the next 24 hours, I need a new base, four men and two special ones that are experts in computer and gun usage.'
'But, that's not possible in 24 hours,' he said, feeling frustrated.
'No buts, I must get it because I need to clear an obstacle,' she said and hung the call.

Miri chuckled derisively as she glanced at the laptop placed delicately on her laps. She was tracking Ann and Alex's location. She had previously installed a malware on Alex's and Joe's phones.
This malware could help track a secured location. Once the owner switches the phone that the malware was installed off, this malware automatically reboots the phone unless the battery is removed completely from the phone.
Miri had first tried to apply hardware -physical- bugs on their phone but had then decided against it and installed software bugs on them. The bugs would be there any day, any time unless the phone's settings was reset. The trackers she fixed on their trouser was a high quality device and it could track anyone down to anywhere on this earth.
With these, she could track anywhere or anyone, even if the location was secured. She could hear sounds from the earpiece -that was connected with the audio bugs in Alex's phone- lodged in her ears. The sounds she could hear were the sounds from fans and nothing else.
The beeping from the laptop on her lap made her turn back to it. The tracking had been successfully completed and it had displayed some codes and the address. Miri saved the address and then the laptop screen displayed a question WANT TO VIEW THIS LOCATION? She clicked yes and waited for the video to load.
This unique tracking Software was created by the overall master of her clan, the EagleClan. It was unique in the sense that after tracking a location, it would display the address and some codes that would be used to view the exact location where the tracked location was and watch the actions going on there. The tracker it was designed for was equally unique because it had an inbuilt sharp camera that would show the location. It could also stay fixed on any place. And it was very small, so small that it could only be seen by trained eyes.
The video loaded and Miri could clearly see Alex and Ann. Alex was sitting weakly on the bed and his legs were positioned in a way that the tracker's camera was capturing both their faces. She peered closely at Ann's face, they were about the same age, and then Ann looked like someone she knew but she didn't dwell on that.
She could see that Ann was asking him something and Alex was replying. Probably about me, Miri thought.
'You both are losers because I'm already out of here in few hours,' Miri said to herself.
Just then Miri saw Ann reaching towards the camera and then everywhere went dark, meaning Ann had seen the chip and had destroyed it.
NO SIGNAL was then displayed on the screen.
'Smart fool!!' Miri laughed hysterically.
'What is your name?' Ann questioned the young man sitting on the bed.
'John,' He said boldly.
Ann smiled and placed her right foot on the bed. She knew he was lying.
'One thing you must never do with me is lying to me, do you get me?' she asked fiercely, scaring the daylight out of Alex.
'Yes,' the now scared man mouthed as he wondered how she knew he was lying.
'You are wondering how I knew you were lying. One thing you must do as a step to becoming a feared assassin is to be able to read minds by just looking at faces,' Ann lectured.
'OK,' He feared her but not like he feared Miri. 'I'm Alex'.
Ann knew he was now telling the truth. 'So, what's your boss' name and your base?'
'She never told us her name,' Alex said.
Ann smiled and let her eyes travelled up and down his body. She was about to look away when she saw the tracker cleverly fixed on his trouser, its colour camouflaging with the colour of his trouser.
'What the f**k!' she screamed and jumped towards the tracker.

Ann narrowed and shone her eyes sternly at Alex as she crushed the tracker with her fingers. She was sure his boss was now aware about her location. Very soon, she would start recieving unwanted visitors and she needed a plan. Bending more closer to Alex who seemed shocked about the discovered tracker, she cleared her throat audibly.
'Okay, I think you need to leave here, now!' Ann said, laying a stress on the now.
'Go where? My boss will skin me alive or probably kill me,' Alex whined feebly.
Ann left the bed and started pacing up and down the room. 'Stand up, you're going back now,' she reiterated and turned to him to study and read his mind.
Alex shakingly scrambled down from the bed. He knew Miri would kill him or inject him some substances and therefore, he would become a vegetable. He had actually lied about not knowing his boss' name and cleverly dodged Ann's question about their base. Miri had instilled perpetual fear in her men. But, Ann knew he was lying when he was answering her question about the name of his boss about them not aware of their boss name. No Assassin in his or her right state of mind would hide his/her identity to the men he/she would be working with.
'C'mon! Let's go,' Ann said and led the way out.
Alex studied her as she walked out of the room. She should not be more than twenty two, he thought. Shuffling after her, he noticed she walked just like Miri, quite similar behaviours, etc. He didn't give it any much thought before, but now it was obvious the two assassins were both likely to be connected in one way or the other, unknown to them, or so, he thought.
He was jolted back to reality when he saw stairs extending upwards. Where am I? he asked himself. As he followed her, a feeling washed over him and he suddenly directed a punch at Ann's neck.
The Divisional Police Station, Nyar
Agent Desmond sighed sadly, and tears rolled down his cheeks mourning for the dead bodies in the ambulance van, including that of his girlfriend, Sandra and the charred remains of Agent Ray, those who were with him in the car, other dead policemen and the occupants of the other car, ready to be transported to the morgue where the bodies will be until their respective relatives who had been contacted will come to take the bodies for burial. The carcass of the burnt police car also stood at a corner of the police station yard.
The van zoomed off, after the bodies had been loaded inside, leaving a wisp trail of smoke. Agent Desmond turned back inside the station to avoid drawing more pity for him from his fellow colleagues on the death of Sandra. He needed to start investigating and start finding the killers of Sandra, he thought as he turned sharply to a corner to avoid one of his talkative colleagues coming the other way.
Miri took a last look round the room, before she left the room. She limped towards her car, the bullet wound on her thigh still smarting. She glanced at the car she saw on the highway after the incident with the police. She brought her phone out from her pocket and dialed Chief Williams' number. He picked almost immediately.
'Hello Chief,' Miri greeted and without waiting for him to reply, she continued, 'I hope everything I ordered for is set?'
'What!' Chief Williams screamed. 'It's not even up to six hours ago when you told me you needed a base and good men. Am I a machine?' the Chief ranted and hung the call.
'poor old man,' Miri shouted to the phone and entered her car. It's time to show the old man some tough film.
'Not so fast baby,' Ann said as she turned swiftly to dodge Alex's punch. She quickly headbutted him and gave him two sharp blows on the groin. Alex doubled up and groaned and clutched his belly. With a kick, she sent him tumbling down the stairs. She had predicted the attack and had braced herself for it. She jumped down the stairs and again kicked Alex who was trying to stand up on his feet. He raised his right foot weakly to kick Ann but she grabbed it and rolled him round thrice before flinging him hard against the wall. Alex started feeling dizzy, seeing imaginary stars, as terrible pains stung all nooks and crannies of his body.
'When next you come to this world, and you see me, you won't toy with me again,' Ann ranted, fetched a pistol from nowhere and sent two bullets straight to his belly.

Ann dragged the boy's dead body savagely up the stairs. She got to the topmost part and pressed some buttons that were located at the base of the uppermost step. The blue panel appeared and Ann stretched up her palm and placed it on it. The panel scanned her palms again.
'Opening granted,' came the computerized voice again and the blue panel slid away.
Ann who had previously squatted because of the little space rose up, clutched Alex's foot again and dragged him out. Ann breathed loudly and the computerized voice came again, requesting for the departing password. Ann chanted it and lights came on. The voice told her goodbye and Ann dragged the body out of the room.
She was nearing the living room when her phone started beeping and giving off red warning lights. Ann quickly brought out her phone from her gown pockets. A message box popped up on the screen, BUGS DETECTED was what she saw. She at once dropped the body and moved towards Alex's android device. She picked it up and saw at once that the phone was on.
Ann was frustrated. 'But I switched this phone off,' she thought. She switched it off again and waited for a minute but nothing happened. She was about to put it back where it was when she saw the phone starting again. Ann silently cursed as she saw that Miri must have done or installed things on it but whatever it was, it must go with him, she thought. She picked the phone and thrust it into her pockets. She went back to the body, bent and dug her hands inside his electrician jackets and found nothing but a handkerchief.
A thought struck her mind and she brought out Alex's phone again. Since, it was already on, she tapped the screen twice and it came alive. Luckily, there were no patterns or password. So, she scrolled through the menus until she saw the contact menu. She tapped it and scrolled through the contacts until she saw Boss Miri. Her instincts told her that was Alex's boss name and she confirmed this through their messages. She was smiling until she saw Chief Williams' number. The name rang a familiar bell in her memory. She closed her eyes and deep in her mind, she started seeing images of her dead parents and twinsister's bleeding body lying on the floor, that bad day.
Suddenly, she remembered. She had heard Hakim mentioned the man's name that day as the man who sent him to kill her parents. Feeling angry, she violently smashed the phone on the wall and fell on a sofa, sobbing hard, momentarily forgetting about the dead body.
Few minutes later, she became calm and stood up, then she walked towards the dead body, ready to go and dump him faraway. She was calm outwardly but inwardly, she was a rattle snake, ready to destroy anyone who tried to stop her from revenging.
Chief Williams' House
Miri alighted from the car parked on the untarred road and glanced at Chief Williams house where she wanted to go and threaten the man a bit. She was about to start walking when her right thigh with the bullet wound commenced smarting again. She stretched her right leg forward, ignoring the pain. She thrust it thrice until she felt the pain lessen. Assuming there was no bandage on her thigh, the wound would have expanded more.
With the smarting now lessened, she walked towards the building and stopped at the fence. She made sure no one was watching her and not in a position that the street cameras would be able to capture her. She grabbed a jutted out brick on a part of the fence and lifted herself up. She placed her left leg on it and jumped. She fell and rolled to prevent getting injured. She got up, dusted her dress and glanced at the two story building. So many happenings in a day, she thought.
She brought out a pistol from her backpack, strapped it back to her back and shot at cameras in the compound. Unfortunately, the pistol had no suppressors and the Chief's boys started coming. Miri took them unawares and opened fire at them. They were all dead in no time. She grinned and walked into the building.
Chief Williams jumped out of his bed where he was earlier snoring when he heard gunshots. Fear clutched his heart as he rushed to the window nearest to where the gunshots were coming. He opened the blinds and sure enough, all his thugs lay lifelessly on the lawn outside but he didn't see the killer. He gasped, turned and screamed when he saw Miri looking at him with a pistol in her hand pointed at him.
'Well... well. Look who we have here,' Miri said and laughed hysterically at seeing the chief looking afraid, and lowered the pistol.
Chief Williams, after seeing the pistol was lowered started fuming angrily,'why did you kill the boys?' he demanded.
'Because you refused to carry out my orders,' she replied as she started circling him, tapping the pistol on her palm playfully.
'But you said within 24 hours!' he shouted.
'When I give orders, it must be quickly obeyed!'
'Including me that you are working for?' Chief Williams shone his eyes. He wondered why she was so bossy and rude.
'I dont f**king give a damn about anyone!' she swore, getting angry already.
'Okay, the base and men are not yet ready, even you won't get your fee,' the Chief spoke, himself also losing his temper.
Miri infuriatingly rushed to him and wound her arm around his throat and pointed a gun at his head. 'what did you said?' she demanded furiously.
'I said your fee, the house and the men are ready,' Chief Williams managed to say as tears came out of his eyes because of Miri's choking grip on his throat and neck.
'Better!' she said, smiling and released her arm from the choked man's throat.

NASCAO (National Agency for Surveillance Cameras Administration and Operations) Headquarters, FCT, Aceland
The electric bulbs in the silent conference room cast yellowish and dreamy lights on the seven people sitting round the wide table. The fans hanging from the ceiling whirred steadily, adding to the dreamy outlook of the room.
Mr Simon, the NASCAO chairman looked round at the six people infront of him, sitting in groups of three at each side of the wide table. To his left hand side, nearest to him was Dr Everton Clark, the Technical Operations Manager, next to him was Mrs Susan Albert, the Surveillance Cameras Software Developer and next to her was Mr Dapo Johnson, the Surveillance Cameras Installation Supervisor. To his right hand side, nearest to him was Dr Blessing Chinoyerem, the Vice-Chairman, nearest to her was Mrs Ngozi Okoronkwo, the Surveillance Cameras Efficiency Monitor and lastly Mr Dare Fadare, the Surveillance Cameras Security Supervisor.
Mr Simon cleared his throat audibly and started talking, 'It is with due honour I called this meeting. Just this morning, I got a call from our office in Nyar State asking us to look into some problems affecting their system recently. It was learned that their system was hacked into, by two different sources and all efforts to track their locations had proved abortive as the sources were not even trackable, if there is such word in the dictionary. They also complained of some missing footages in their database which they said they knew it was the handiwork of those that hacked into their system. They were sure it was the work of the assassins involved in the recent deaths of important men in the state. I'm sure you all heard about the recent murders of icons in Nyar, including the death of the famous Chief Martins. Yeah, no matter how hard they tried, they just couldn't find the footages of the incidents. Yet the cameras there are fully working. And the Police is pointing accusing fingers at us, because without the surveillance, they won't know how and where to start investigations. And we are now under pressure to resolve the issue because I got a call from the President not long ago, asking me to find a way to solve the matter on time. Now, the question is, could this be the work of some cyber-criminal or an assassin?'
Dr Everton stood up, he was a rather short and bookish man with exaggerated features. But for what he lacked in height, he had in build. He was wide and burly with a chest that reminds you of a petrol or water barrel.
'Let's look at this closely,' he said. 'It could be the work of a cyber-criminal truly or some experienced assassin, but who knows? In my own opinion, I think the main action we should take now is to tell them to transfer their data to us, so we can look into it from here,' he concluded and sat down.
'Any other opinions?' Mr Simon asked but there were none. 'Alright guys, I've already told them to transfer their data to us and they've done that. So I will want you guys to start working on it now and find a way to catapult the hackers out of the system, protect the system against future attacks and if possible, find their location. And please do be careful too, you don't want us having to look into some disorders in our own system as a result of a mistake later on, do you? Please, work on it successfully and let's clear our nation from these scallywags. Good day.'
The MoonsClan Village,
Rabbi walked up to the entrance of the village and knocked on the old metallic gate. The weather was chilly and freezing with a determined vigour. The pale sun overhead did nothing to the cold. The cold was enough to make a man go bunkers but it had no effect on Rabbi. As he heard the gate door being opened, he looked up at the sky and smiled.
A tired looking man popped out of the opened gate like a dolphin and bowed to him. He then stood up and stepped aside for Rabbi to enter into the village.
Pablo rushed to the entrance to the room and flung himself at Rabbi's feet as he entered. He bowed, his forehead touching the floor and kissed his feet.
'Welcome back master!' he greeted.
'I am back! The owner of the house is back! I've been gone for too long and I'm ready to re-effect my leadership of this Clan,' Rabbi drawled.
'No one can and will take your Clan from you, my lord,' Pablo said. 'Please, come and sit down while I get some cold water for you.'
Rabbi walked to a corner of the room and sat down on a bench. Pablo was about to go and get some water for him when he heard Rabbi yell.
'Where's Tacha?' he asked. Tacha is the nickname he choosed for Ann, after a popular Nigerian celebrity.
Pablo's heart skipped a beat. Oh God, what has he done? He had granted Ann's request to go and revenge her parents' death without seeking the consent of Rabbi. He had thought he would have stayed longer on his journey as he usually did, long enough for Ann to finish her mission. And Rabbi hated doing something behind his back. It was even against the law to do so, the penalty was instant death.
'I... I...,' he stammered in fear and fell on his knees and started rubbing his palms together, requesting for mercy which he wasn't sure would be given to him.
'You allowed her to go to Aceland for her to revenge her parents' death, didn't you?' asked Rabbi.
Pablo was not surprised, he knew Rabbi would have known anyway. Afterall, wasn't he the master of the Clan?
'And you know the penalty for doing things without my consent. You really have the nerve, to do things behind my back. I regretted ever making you the second in command,' Rabbi ranted, brought a gun from his holster and fired a shot at Pablo immediately.
Pablo fell into a huge, lifeless heap.
