Cristiano Ronaldo's hopes of ending the campaign as top scorer in Serie A faded away on Wednesday as he failed to find the net when champions Juventus slumped to a shock 2-0 defeat away to Cagliari.

The 35-year-old Portuguese star is on 31 goals for the season, four behind Lazio's Ciro Immobile with only a home league game against fifth-placed Roma left to play.

Cagliari, who are 13th in the table, shocked the newly-crowned champions in the eighth minute when 20-year-old striker Luca Gagliano reacted quickest, stabbing home Federico Mattiello's pass across the box to net his first goal for the club.

Things went from bad to worse for Juve in first-half stoppage time as Giovanni Simeone smashed a right-foot shot across keeper Gianluigi Buffon and in at the far post to put Cagliari two goals up.

With a first-half goal chalked off for offside, Ronaldo had plenty of chances as Juve dominated, but he found his efforts smothered by the Cagliari defence.

When his team mates did manage to get a shot on target they found keeper Alessio Cragno in superb form as Cagliari held on to win.

CR7 is even tried With such hopeless team even messi would find difficult to score 30+ goal which CRISTIANO RONALDO has done it

The pausing of the league affected many players performance. Both Messi and Ronaldo. Even in Nigeria, it was the same thing. Footballers had to face other hustle

2 young guys on my street that used to be in one football academy were home for 3 good months. They started doing online dating on dating sites like Bit Mistress. One even uses Cossy Ojiokor pics as his profile to attract white men because of her big chest. Now, they are always buying designers clothes like Hushpuppi. They recently bought a lexus ES350.

lolz....cr7 fans boys don dey give up??
i think cr7 can still do it because he loves challenge and still have the last match to score 5 goals, abi no be cr7 the machine again??
am happy my guy immobile is way ahead of him in the golden boot race in italy and Europe at least we go hear word...
after winning the league cr7 said that he would win it but unluckily for him, his goal dried up because his goal tally would be weak without those soft p.k he do receive...
he can still score 5 p.k against roma because cr7 is a goal machine and immobile would be watching..
the next move for his fans is to blame sarri and the bad juve squad, even if cr7 bea leaves him, his fans would still blame sarri...bunch of jokers..

If he had scored this 31 goals in that lower league called La Liga, he would have been the highest goal scorer
La liga always produce the best unlike premier league where no entity like Herderson is the best player. Go and ask Hazard, he will tell you better. Ask Higuain about the competition in Spain and Seria A. He scored the highest in Italy ever and not reckon with in Spain. They are too docile in Seria A, not pacy like la liga. Là liga has been producing the European Golden Boot winners since 2008. Even in Champions league excepts may be twice that they didn't win in 13 years. What is now your point?

another joker....ur cr7 was once in that same lower league called la liga and messi won that award more than him..
so its seria a that juve have won straight 9 times and no club from that region have won the ucl in the last 10yrs that is now bigger than la liga because of cr7 abi??
incase u dnt kno, if ur cr7 score 32 goals in spain, messi would score 41 and give assist join because anything cr7 can do, messi would do better e.g the ballon d or and the European golden boots won in both league and Europe...
next thing is to blame juve bad players and sarri, even if cr7 bea dumps him, his fan boys would still blame sarri...

It is all over mehn. Immobile is taking the Euro golden boot.

CR7 has done greatly already at 35. His 31 goals equals Juventus' best tally by a player in a single league campaign in the Serie A but that Immobile dude is just too lethal and clinical from the penalty spot (scored 14 out of 15 penalties this league season alone). His 35 goals is not gonna be surpased this season again plus he may even add to it on the final matchday. Perhaps CR7 may bag a hattrick in their final league game but it won't be enough.

And well this Ciro immobile sef, perhaps he borrowed some "goals scoring" anointing due to this previous encounter below... grin

Despite a chunk of his goals coming from the spot.. he should be happy that Ciro Immobile is winning it because Ciro deserves it cool

Some people want to paint Ronaldo 's sojourn to Italy as a challenge, when in actual fact the Italian league is basically a farmer's league...

Apart from Juventus, how often do Italian clubs make the finals of UCL or Europa?

The least that Ronaldo can do with the immense advantage that Juve has over other clubs is to be the highest goal scorer and best player every season

But he has been outscored by a 38 year old Quadilateral or whatever his name is and now by another average player...

For someone that his main strength is only to score, it is a fvcking disgrace!

All I know is that La liga is tougher than Seria A cos Spanish have won more UFCL in the last decade than Italia.
Cr7 tried sha but simply, he couldn't make it for now
