.

So u are among those that think there are Christians in the power... besides, is it not numbers that’s is used to pass bill? once the number of those that favour is more than those that are against ..... the rest is history...

BabaRamota1980:

The churches brought this upon themselves.

There are many muslim communities just like Zakzaky group in North. They mind their business and never get involved in govt issues. Zakyzaky stays in govt business all the time. Thats why he is in trouble now.

Jonathan set a bad precedence when he will have these pastors meddling govt business. They got too comfortable and started commenting on what govt is doing or not doing. When you are a tax exempt organization, stay away from govt the best you can. Put a long distance between you and govt. Govt has all the rules and ways to fvk up anyone, if they choose to. These churches did same thing Zakyzaky did, started fvkng with govt. So now govt wants to fcvk with them too. Its unfortunate but its reality.

There is a pastor in America called Pastor Dollar or something like that. He used to condemn govt and live large and flaunt. One of their legislators got on his case and wanted to probe him and his church. The Pastor got the message at that point.

If CAMA can bring out same result in Nigerian pastors it will be great. The money they waste on acquiring jets and building for-profit private institutions should be better used in promoting wellbeing and supporting needs of communities and people. At the end of it people benefit when churches come to their aid in time of distress and need.

I don't know how u think u are making sense now

Rubbish mode of Leadership....What kind of bill is our Govt passing to us foolishly when there are other pressing issues to be saliently attended to? angry You can imagine what happens when a Minister is the one solely-controlling the affairs of a Church.... My greatest worries is the Christians on Nairaland angry saying packaged trash in the form of comments.... Must you comment even when the brain has eloped from it's required position.... All they want to do is to clip the wings of church leaders... Gibberish Politicians and remotely-docile Citizens.... Welcome to Nigeria.....Abasha! Iranu!...Tueh!

The bill has been signed into law. No going back. CAN is free to challenge it in court.

Only Igbos will support CAN.

CAN is one of the most useless organisations in Nigeria.

An umbrella body of strange bedfellows. Anybody can open a church, even idol worshippers, as long as they send stipends to CAN.

ICAN has more authority over its members than CAN has over its own because ICAN got legal backing to sanction erring members.

Buhari is here to attempt to destroy Christianity. Although God will eventually stop him but for now he has divine backing to make life uncomfortable for those who chose to be more focused on their personal comfort than the well being of the masses in the pews.

I am just thinking aloud. Is this new law not affecting Muslims too?

Why is MURIC not protesting? What if this law was introduced during Jonathan regime? How will MURIC react if Jonathan signed a law that gave government the authority to remove the Imams of any mosque?

Would CAN oppose this law if it was enacted during Jonathan's regime?

The fact is that religious inclinations has blocked the rational thinking of most Nigerians.

My honest take is that people should have the freedom to practice their religious beliefs without discrimination or government interference.

If you are a Muslim or Christian, do you call those who practice traditional religion derogatory names like pagans and idol worshippers?

Religion is really the "weed"" of the people!

Would CAN oppose this law if it was enacted during Jonathan's regime?

@bolded, CAN would have still protested...

I am also surprised at MURIC's silence on this...

The MURIC I know will protest this if it were to be jonathans administration.

Things no just dey alright for this country anyways...

We are just deceiving ourselves, we dont love each other, the hatred plenty.

Please this is a very sensitive matter and I want to appeal to all to watch the type of comments we make.

This is the type of matter that is capable of plunging the country into endless war. If we have lived in peace together all these years without such obnoxious law, the need for it now is questionable.

Imagine a christian president appointing an Imam to lead the mosque and vice- versa? Mr President has been ill advised or he want to deliberately plunge this country into crisis.

Check it out , all the countries that has been confronted with religious and tribal war, how well have they fear? Mr PRESIDENT YOU ARE WRONG ON THIS MATTER. WE HAVE MORE THAN ENOUGH CRISIS TO CONTEND WITH ALLOW SLEEPING DOGS TO LAY.

diz is exactly why d country needs to be restructured in totality we aren’t receiving the same privileges common sense would suggest diz and fix the anomaly... in the north they have a sharia law that supersedes our constitution and humiliating our collective reasoning..

And to the useless National Assembly they are a bigger disgrace than the executive... bills all over the world even in some cases non democratic nations seek public opinions before enacting bills...

The question now is who did they consult? Because if they did no one should and would complain now.. it appears diz regime is better known for shooting themselves accidental discharge and inconclusive reasoning
