Sanchez01:Basically your point is that since some reseachers said that sperm cells don't swim therefore scientific results aren't reliable? That's just ridiculous. There's always a margin of error allowed in scientific research The sperm cell not swimming stuff you're mentioning is tricky because you're talking of microscopic organisms. If you read the report well you'll understand what the researchers are saying is not so profound. I still insist it's illiteracy that makes people think the Earth is 6000 years old. Every self-respecting science enthusiast knows carbon dating isn't perfect, but it's what we've got and reseachers know where to draw the line. If the title of the thread was to be more accurate it'll read as estimated 250 million year-old fossil or something, it's not a definite figure 4 Likes |

ParpahSeventy: My friend there is fact and there is opinion/faith/belief. Fact is not subjective. The Bible says the world is flat, science has proved otherwise. This is not about what one is told, fact is demonstrable. Faith by definition is asking you to believe what hasnt been proven. What you accept by faith may or may not be true what is fact is scientifically proven, demonstrable and evidenced or else it is not fact. 1 Like |

ParpahSeventy:The difference is clear for shit's sakes. Religious people have what is called faith and let me define it according to the Catholics "Faith is a supernatural gift from God to believe beyond reasonable doubt that God exists...." now look at the bolded that should simply tell you the difference, science demands that you use your rational senses to find proof and use reason while religion doesn't. 1 Like |

Sanchez01:Such foolishness exhibited by you too. The earth's age has been a source of argument between those who believe that the big Bang Theory happened and the people who believe the universe is has been the way it is. They are both approximates and you can't really stand and say one is correct. You are calling someone ignorant you of all people who rubbished a research yet does not have a single dime to even conduct one. Shame on you. As someone who believes in reason, I believe that there are some things that we will never really understand or know. For example, understanding what nothingness means or understanding time. And one more thing remember what science means, The systematic study of the things around you it is a study not a belief. 1 Like |

isthatso:Question I have for you is this, apart from what you read on Google, watched on TV, and probably read in books do you have any other facts to prove these millions of years? Am sure your biggest answer is NO. You read, they read, you were told, they were told, you are all acting on faith, so labelling them illiterates because they don't share your faith is what am trying to point out to you, you went ahead to say African minds, all African minds flow with same wave, that is why even with your so called "intelligence" you still displaying the "African mind". Those of you ranting about radio carbon dating, I can bet my life savings that you can't do Jack out of it. 3 Likes |

ParpahSeventy: My friend abeg carry on with your ignorance. I really dont have time for lost causes and closed minds. Do you have to rely on what you are "told" for your brain to kick in. If you really have a functioning brain you should ask questions, you should have an inquisitive mind. The reason why Africans dont invent or discover anything is because we dont question what weve been told, we dont ask questions, we are not inquisitive, we just accept. Children ask questions but Africans seem to be the ones who by the time they finish school stop asking questions and accept what they are taught in schools and in church/mosques without asking themselves if it makes any sense or logical. The proof of the pudding is in the eating, look at your continent, does it look like a continent of people who engage their brains? It is even Foreigners that come and discover things in your own continent.........Nonsense!!! |

[s] SegFault:[/s] No one asked you this and stop running in circle. Whatever theory is propounded is not the problem but WHAT YOU BELIEVE. Again, stop appealing to accomplishment, it is distasteful. Just because I am not a movie director does not mean I can't critic movies. The same applies to other fields, particularly when it involves disturbing and gross exaggeration as with 250 million years. Tell you what appeal to accomplishment does: it makes whoever exhibit shallow and tend to make them come off as market women. More importantly, it is an undertone of a dogmatic mindset. I am given and open to learning but believing others can't challenge what is because I haven't done it is myopic, lacking in refined taste and unintelligent. No vex, if you feel the barrage is hitting hard. Shallow discourses put me off. I was getting into this before now but not anymore. Your rebuttal is not necessary 1 Like |

Humanoid01:It is called radiocarbon dating. Plants are made of carbon (CHO). When animal eats plants, these carbon are transferred to humans. Remember energy can neither be greater nor destroyed but..... There are two types of carbon C12 and C 14. The former is stable while the later is unstable. I.e the later losses half of it's life after a specific period of time(half life of an element) for C14; it's about 5700 plus years. That means after 5700 plus years, C14 losses half of it's life. For example 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 etc. This half life is now used to compare with the stable C12 to get a ration. That ratio is the estimate. Those looking for accuracy shuold no, we have 95% percent significance in science. Hope you picked one or two from this. |

SegFault:I am not refuting science, what am trying to say is quite simple, Faith, you believe that God exists, billions of people believes that God exists, if you don't believe that exists it's left for you to find because a scientist should carry out research on a subject matter before concluding. Back to my point, with all your scientific evidence, how many of them have you proven to be true? Can you prove to categorically with your own eyes and everyday happenings that the sun is the center of the universe? All what you "know" you know by faith, if those researchers comes out and change the trend tomorrow, you follow suit, simply because you know by Faith. 1 Like |
