Poor management. And lack of advance visual effect...the camera is not top notch...selling and buying of food by the touch line...the league is not serious a beg.

It's weird how a country of 200 million people and yet there's no diversity in sports.
Sport leagues and events generate billions of dollars to the US and European economies. Nigerians preference of European league contributes to growth of European economy.
Why do Nigerians prefer Toyota to Innoson? why do Nigerians prefer inflated Chinese firms and Julius Berger firm than their own ? it simply makes no sense . Why is a Nigerian's life long dream or goal is to migrate to US,Canada,Australia,Sweden,Norway,Germany,Netherlands,Japan, etc. ?
Don't ask this question again sir. Even your brother go vex if you ask am this question. E fit catch you winch.

Toyota has second hand market from abroad. Innoson doesn't. The average innoson costs over 5m. While u can get Toyota toks for 1.3m

Because everything about it is poor, poor stadium, poor infrastructure, lack of advanced digital technology, inadequate sponsor, poor organization, poor refereeing etc

A league that smacks of poor play by teams and corrupt referees: is that a league?

I grew up watching the local league when it had quality. What we have now is crap.

Away Team never wins .... even with the 22 odds on bet9ja..

they hardly play draw...

then as for the home teams with 1.05 odds to win..... what can one do with odds like that?

Do we have modern stadiums? A thriving local football culture? Can we even watch the matches on TV?

The European competitions we watch aren't that way by accident, they have crafted a unique image and attracted the best players to their leagues.

Nigerians are the only ones that can stop the misguided love for foreign leagues.

Just imagine the number of employment that can be generated if local leagues are well planned, organised and marketed.

The Ministry of Sports should deliberately drive this. The federal and state governments should commercialise the stadia and airports. Government should provide security. They should partner with a good competitive local TV station that can be on cable, etc

The problems may be many but they can be surmounted. Let's start building our own people and circulating the cash among ourselves.

The problem is the people managing the league. They don't package and sell it well.

There were times Nigerians preferred foreign musicians to local ones. Then some people came in and changed things.
I still prefer foreign music with exceptions to Burna Boy and a few scattered tracks from other artists.

But you're right about those in charge of the NFL. They're only interested in lining their pockets with funds meant for the leagues. If you ask majority of those playing in these local leagues, they'd tell you they're doing it cos it's a sure way of getting picked by scouts so they'd leave this country which is only popular in killing off ones dreams and talents if said person isn't strong enough.

It has been my observation that Nigerians are versed with European soccer leagues like English premier league and Spanish premier league ,and perhaps Italian and German. I find it weird because most countries I've visited usually prefer their own sport leagues. For example , Lithuania is a basketball nation and they have their own basketball league( Lietuvos krepšinio lyga) which they enjoy . In fact, most people there are not versed with America's NBA league because they prefer their own league .
Most people in Brazil and Argentina prefer their own soccer league ,despite the fact they probably have some of their top stars in European league.
Most people in North America prefer American leagues. Even though soccer is not one of the most popular sports in the US, most North American soccer fans still prefer American soccer league and the stadiums are usually filled.

Why don't Nigerians like Nigerian soccer league, and what do you think can be done to improve so that it becomes a household league that Nigerians can enjoy and frequent ?

Because it is not well packaged and there's no matchday experience. I once went to watch Kano pillars play at sabon gari stadium I didn't feel safe because of the marijuana they were smoking at every corner of the stadium and most of them carried dagger.

Excuse me do you live in the same Nigeria as the rest of us? Because if you did you wouldn't be asking those questions.

Nigerians love suffering and hardship, when you even want to fix our major issues you get called oversabi. If you went to live in a sane country for 2 weeks you would never want to come back here.

Everything is corrupt here.

1. The players don't get picked on merit, they get to buy their ways. Hence you get to see very funny players on the fields grin

2. The stadium aren't conducive. I once followed a boy to watch a scrabble game in a stadium... It is well fa grin

3. Television coverage is almost black and white

4. Tracking the players' move on the field with up to date technology is a nightmare. Na anything referees say be final final

5. Its not safe. Ayei boys can decide its on the field they want to have it out with the rival team....people can't shout biko grin grin
