You are the complete illiterate here. Despite your acclaimed years of exposure, you keep making mockery of your education. You do not know the meaning of what you are using to mock Innoson. First go and read what rebadging means then come back and engage me.

For sane minds, Innoson as a start up car manufacturing company do not at the initial stage have the resources to invest in the highly capital intensive project of Research and development or modelling in the industry. He could not afford the trial and error which big companies like Ford, Mercedes, Volkswagen use in manufacturing new models of cars. Can innoson afford to recall 10000 cars at once and destroy it because of design error like we see often from big manufactures? He will fold up even before he starts. So as a smart business man, he went into partnership with a Chinese company whose models are trusted, in order to use their specification to manufacture something similar under his company name. By Innoson doing so, he achieved the following.

1. Reduced cost: No huge fund in R& D initially. Only small amount is spent on researching about smaller parts. He goes straight and manufactures without huge loss.

2. A model that is already a success: No trial and error in the market because people will love it.

3. Economics of scale. In a price sensitive market like Nigeria, he could at least compete with tokumbo cars.

Innoson builds his vehicle in Nnewi with a market trusted specification and a model which has 90% acceptance in the market. In essence he is legally leveraging on the more technically advanced R & D department of Baic or whoever he is in partnership with. Today he has established his own Innoson Academy and in the nearest future he will touch the sky.

This is quite different from importing CKD vehicles which was manufactured in China then reassemble them in Nigeria. There is enough video evidence on the internet to prove that actual manufacturing is taking place at Nnewi.

Long story short, he is still reassembling. I totally support that, why are your brothers on here mocking Nord for the same thing? 98% of IVM sale have been to the government, not even the ones blabbing here screaming amaka this amaka that are actively patronizing the brand, instead they are going to tour the factory and take pictures in their German and Japanese cars.

Chinese and trusted models in the same sentence, seriously? even you should know how funny that sounds. If not for our corrupt leaders that has sabotaged our education system, we wouldn't be cheering car reassembling in the 21st century and making it out to be a sign of tribal superiority. Person wey curse this country with mediocrity no nice oooo.

A branch of a Chinese company (there's literarily a Chinese man in the first set of photos you posted). The whole product line is literarily listed as belonging to Chinese manufacturers.

God bless you for this enlightening piece. The hateful and ignorant bigots from the waste are so jealous of Innoson. They always feel threatened by Igbo exploits which makes them to always try to measure up with Igbos but they often end up making a fool of themselves.

How can a sane person compare a showroom company like Nord to Innoson? Nord is just like Coscharis, Elizade or Chagoury but the only difference between them is that while these ones import full body specs, Nord on its own imports CKD that are reassembled on arrival. The fact that Nord has hastily bought another land when they are staying in an empty warehouse shows they have no intention of going into real manufacturing like Innoson but are probably a front established by a well connected politician who wants to corner some deals under the guise of locally sourced cars.

Nord in its present form can't add any significant value to Nigeria whatsoever. However, in contrast, Innoson will boost Nigeria's drive towards industrialization. Innoson will create massive jobs directly and indirectly. Innoson will earn forex for Nigeria while saving capital flight. Innoson will help the military. Innoson will promote the image of Nigeria and put it on the map of car manufacturing countries.

Through its academy, Innoson is developing local technology that will help it to survive and become a global player like Toyota and the rest.

Innoson is one of the best things to happen to us in recent times and no amount of hate, jealousy or bigotry by these waste people will diminish his exploits.

See why Innoson is different, he may copy others vehicle design but fact is, he build the body of his vehicles and manufacture some parts

You do know there is a difference between welding rails or frames of cars and actually designing a car right? Do you think all the cars are imported in full body conditions from China? Riddle me this, where do you think the engine comes from genius? The infotainment system? ohhh that's right, you know nothing about engineering and manufacturing.

I would be very curious to know what parts exactly does he manufacture locally, do your research before you make up baseless statements as facts. Down to the exhaust pipes every single thing is imported, that's the deal as he is a subsidiary of the Chinese company, they want to increase actual production in their country and have it exported as it's an avenue to grow their own G.D.P. (This is how the world works). And yes the same is the case for Nord, so don't around here with that tribal b.s.

It's nothing but a front for a Chinese company with a Nigerian name plastered over it to garner local support.

Pretty not worth the effort arguing with the likes of you. There is literarily the head office in lekki, and an expansion planned for Epe to do exactly what IVM is doing ( which is reassembling Chinese cars exactly to the specs of the original manufacturer). Doesn't seem like anything anyone should be blabbing about as they both basically Chinese companies with a Nigerian as their front man to penetrate the local market. But hey, it takes someone with a working brain to see that.

As for what will happen in the coming years, it will end in tears for both companies, tell me anyone you know lusting after buying innoson or Nord? The average Nigerian will buy KIA 10 times over before giving these companies a look.

How many times a year do you think the government buy cars? unless there's a more general willingness of Nigerians to purchase these cars, this one gamble too big for the Chinese.

So, it is at the Lekki showroom that this ones were coupled?

A company that is yet to open fully, or even establish its first plant is now already talking about expansion?

Dude this guys are just into full time importation, let's not decieve ourselves.

The guy is right. This is what Theguardian said about Nord plant in Epe few days ago.

With a mission to roll out a wholy Nigerian model of cars, for Nigerians and assembled by Nigerians, the current Nord assembly plant is located on a 2,100 square meters of land space in Sangotedo in Lagos, while and another one recently acquired and occupying 3,400 square meters of land at Epe is currently undergoing construction for the assembly complex in readiness to meet the growing automotive market and increasing customer demand.

Exactly, it's all import. The show room in Lekki is to attract some needed attention to the product and then proceed to the plant in Epe to do exactly what Innoson is doing. Basically, Chinese companies rolling the dice and testing the waters of the country's automobile market.

To see some people cheer these products as Nigerian made is just shameful and shows you how low we have fallen when cars banned in many parts of the world due to safety concerns are now seen as our national pride. Next we are reciting the Chinese national anthem and some fools in this country won't know any better as they will be too entrenched bragging about how superior their tribe is over the other.

I agree with you it would end in premium tears for Nord, considering they're in this as a front to import CKD and market. However, as for Innoson, I see the company going places even in the near future.

1. They're already grounded with factories in place and also operates in a city that has clusters of auto parts manufacturing companies.

2. Innoson is not only getting massive patronage by Eastern states governments as well as some others in Nigeria, but foriegn countries are already placing orders while lots of reputable brands like Shell are ordering too. Likewise, it may interest you to know that Innoson vehicles are already a common sight in the East, particularly here in Owerri.

3. Innoson is already expanding and because they're struggling to meet demand and they now have an academy that will ensure that their technological advancement is localized.

4. Innoson are already operating in highly technical and specialized fields like aircraft repairs and the likes, which means their expertise is top notch.
