Supreme court cannot just scrap Sharia law. Cases are handled on individual basis. Anybody wrongfully sentenced to death by Sharia law can take the case to the SC and that judgement will definitely be overturned. kponkedenge: |

Inheritance is a delicate issue that must be handled with care. Imagine an Hausa girl inherited vast wealth and land in Sokoto. She eventually married a Yoruba guy. Do you think, the Hausas will welcome the guy to take away everything the Sokoto girl had inherited. Inheritance is a delicate issue. It's as delicate as Kingship. All aspects as regards it must be considered diligently 3 Likes |

I know someone who is also a victim of this. He and his brother were kids at the time of passing of their dad so their uncles took everything away from them. They are grown now and hope to fight them in court. jericco1: 1 Like |

I wish we had voice note I have much to day in this topic, but then alot of feminist and people that dont know shiut about igbo culture will comment....well the igbo woman gets more than the male gets in the actual sense. How? ok there is something we call "idu ulo' this are done for women who are about to be married and the gifts from.the parents are unlimited I.e she can get loads as much according to her parents pocket...plus if the father also will properties to her she can still inherit. she would get married to another man, and still inherit ......Now I'm not comparing but read this very well and mention me if you have any issues with regards this topic and most people talk blindly and just vent on topics they know nothing of. I am igbo so if you are a feminist, non igbo please stop speaking and do researches before talking. best regard kelechi. 5 Likes |

If that law was abolished totally, the Young cute lovers that committed suicide the last time wouldn’t have done that. Only God knows the other number of lovers that had toe the path of suicide due to OSU that the media did not cover. 3 Likes |

banio:Oga, once an inheritance has been passed to the beneficiary, whatever happens to the inheritance is no problem of anyone. What if the sokoto girl decides to sell it to an urhobo man? Does that invalidate her right to her inheritance? This is 21st century. Yorubas are by far, the most liberal and civilized tribe in Nigeria. 1 Like 1 Share |

wizzakosh: Goke7: You are a yoruba champion of 'female emancipation' in Igboland, pointing crooked ewedu-stained fingers on another custom. So we ask you, are yoruba women not in need of the same 'emancipation' that you pose to administer in other regions? Why have you marginalized your yoruba women from attaining the highest cultural stools in yorubaland? Are you cursed with hypocrisy? 3 Likes 1 Share |

This sharia/supreme court won't stop poke nosing in igbo traditional matters, first it was removing a democratically elected governor in IMO state n now they have moved into changing igbos culture let me wait and see if they will go to Rome n force the Pope to ordain women as priests or bishops... Now I understand why they say that 'nothing good comes from the north' 1 Like |

fergie001:The way you guys justify injustice in the name of archaic culture/tradition is the same way Islamic extremist justifies their callous act using sharia. While Islamic terrorist are a slave to their stone age Sharia, you and your ilks are in shackles of your repugnant discriminatory culture/tradition. Funny enough you folks will be the first to call out the north on Sharia, but you turn a blind eye and even justify your own discriminatory culture (Osu caste system, subjugation of women etc). Laws, Cultures, traditions are made for men and not the reverse. 2 Likes |
