A good step.

But, they also have to privatise NNPC , allow marketers to set the price.of fuel,.and depot owners, and allow the transporters too to set their prices

Or the privatisation won't take

If our big mouthed corrupt politicians do not have stakes in them, they won't allow them to function as they should.

Hope we will not begin to witness yearly increase in petrol price as we are now witnessing with NEPA.

Shey when Atiku suggested this, Garbage Shehu & his company of dimwit defenders of this oppressive regime on NL came for his head and accused him of trying to sell the country to his business associates.

Well what say you now, is the President also trying to sell us to his Fulani friends & family association?

Let’s watch and see if the Emefiele led CBN will also help whichever lucky northerner purchase the refineries as they did for etisalat and a certain now deceased Mallam! grin grin grin

Thrives, they shouldn't give up majority stake, the should sell it completely. Before you know it, they be tongue twisting and playing politics still with the little stake left just like they doing to nepa

The best decision by this useless government. I doubt any investor of integrity wants to be in partnership with this corrupt government. The country should identify investor capabilities such as Indorama and BUA Group

They need to scrap NNPC, an organisation called Nigeria National Pertroleum Corporation that can't extract, explore, transport and refine oil and gas after 45 years operations.

GOd Bless Atiku Abubakar, when he said that commercializing NNPC is the best way to go, many Nigerians lambasted him but today it is the way this government is going, AA would have managed our economy far better than what we have currently.

I knew I would see useless and ignorant comments like this. Atiku wanted to sell NNPC. This government is considering selling stakee/ privatizing refineries.

Do they sound same to you.

How can you surrender your main agency for generating revenue to the private sector.

It this ignorance or just to make agenda agend.

with commercialization of NNPC within 18 months prices will fall to within that rage, even if he will subsidize it will be in a free market not dictated by government but by forces of demand and supply.

Fulani FG does not want to compete with Dangote refinery, they are Northern oligarchy posing as Dngte , soon they will still share Nigerian refineries in the name of privatization. they will be owning all refineries in Nigeria soon.

I always look out for your opinion on issues here. They are always devoid of sentiments and nearly factual.

Nigeria has stayed in this abyss for long because we do not understand the concept of ideology. Is it Capitalism or corporate socialism in the guise of privatization ?
If it is capitalism then the forces of demand and supply should regulate prices. Corporate socialism means the electricity discos and subsequently, these private individuals who will control our refineries would most likely not see any development because of lack of competition which regulation of prices and subsidies promote.

Your Atiku wanted to sell NNPC. The entire NNPC. Are you for real. Who would do that?

This government wants to privatise just the refinery.

These two are not the same.
