OMOJOHN001:
Stupid Question.

If a father that buried your child placenter is not in the position to name the child, then that wife must be crazy.
TUEEEEEEHHH

My father name all his children, then my mom also gave us the name she wished, but it was my father that named us,all the first name we are using. my mom do call us by the name she gave us and our dad do call us my the name he gave us.

Even in yoruba land, that's not a question to ask.
Even when a child is given birth to and the father is not around they do call the father to ask for the child name.

Arrogant and Maybe cheating is what will make a woman to be dragging naming of a child with her husband.

Maybe it was another man that even owns the child who knows, TUEEEH
This is 2020 anybody names a child even in the Yoruba land you are using as an example.
Go siddon abeg the man for still carry the belle too since na him work alone.
Rubbish.
A woman who names her child must have been arrogant and cheated too you sure say you dey alright so?

My point id anybody names a child and not the exclusive role of thr father.
what's your moral upbringing? It's important one has a foundation at early age to be able to handle some issues we face in future

which women takes marriage as an achievement?

naming a child isn't a big deal nor does it replace the man's place
but if that's what you're concluding you need to work on your self-worth as a man.

if the man were smart, he would work together to make the naming a joint effort;
millions of names out there for them to come to an agreement on.

if YOU are not careful, your ignorance will destroy you.
Well said

Names plays vital role in the lives of children. So the mother should name the child because only her knew what she went through before the delivery of the child. The husband can give a second name to the child.
Man is the head of the house,he paid her her diary, his house, the child's name and surname all belongs to the man...which Kain yeye wetin he pass through undecided

Inside life

Freedom? what kinda name is that for God's sake? is the baby in bondage?

Since some people don't even understand naming, let them both name the child:

Victor - First name
Freedom - Middle name
Bondage - Third name

Oshi==== people and pettiness.

So the Husband was sleeping throughout the pregnancy, ehn?
Some of you sef.
The Husband is the HEAD of that Family, whether Religiously or Culturally and he has the right of first refusal.
He would give the child his firs name and then the Mother can add the middle name. Even Cousins, GrandDads and GrandMas can add their own, it should not cause any disagreement

Even Jesus was named by his Father, Abraham named his Sons, Isaac name his Sons, etc
Let me ask out of curiosity: Who gave you your own name? Your Father or Mother?
I will not be surprised at your answer because it may be responsible for the way you are reasoning. undecided grin

I was brought up in a christian family and attended christian schools.
I won't say that was the source of my morality now because I have deviated from some things considered moral according to the religion.
I am liberal in my ideology so there are some things I may believe in or morally agree with that is not in agreement with christianity.
The source of my morality is my conscience and what I personally view as right/wrong as long as it does not infringe on the rights of others I believe in the principle of live and let live.I believe in tolerance so I don't dictate to others or how they choose to live their lives.I avoid trouble and loathe violence I believe in diplomacy/round table discussions and team work that is a part of own moral code.

See the little things that cause quarrel in marriages.... Tomorrow now you will hear ,shebi na you give am the name ?

My wife always ask me to give my child a name first (English name).

She will then give the child a second name of her choice (Igbo name).

Stop showing muscle on minor issues in marriage.
