Wow! So the guy was a Polo star as far back ast the late 80s? Interesting.

Yeah he was one of the best players to have played the game of polo in Nigeria.His handicap was +4 when I watched him last and I heard he attained a handicap of +5 before he retired.

Kids made polo hockey sticks from a tree referred to as igi agun ma ni iye and always tried to copy his style of play and that of Dawule baba while running and shouting their names.

I still have fond memories of the games he played in which the man at the commentary box never stopped saying Dapo Ojora with the ball as if he was the only player on the polo field.He was that good.

Dapo Ojora was a legend in the game of polo in Nigeria .

as the only child of my parents, I thought of suicide when I lost mom because she was the only family I have.

This gentleman had an accident and stopped socialising and practically became reclusive, I'm assuming a lot of other things about him would have changed as well,along with rumours of financial difficulties and perhaps some problems with his marriage..its a cocktail of pressure for anyone. Some people can't cope and do something impulsive in a bid to end that suffering.

The signs are usually there but we tend to believe people can just 'man up ' and get over it. A lot of people are going through mental suffering and anguish but have to pretend as if they're okay because of them say them say.

Depression and despair will not discriminate, rich or poor, anyone can fall prey.

RIP to him and I hope there will be some therapy available for the people who found him and those he left behind.

Dapo Ojora,Hussein Jammal. a.k.a moon and Dawule Baba were the polo players that made me attend most of the polo tournaments held at Ibadan polo club in the month of January of every year from the late eighties into the early nineties.

Dapo was a delight to watch during those tournaments.He had the finest ponies from Argentina and played with style.

I dont know Dawule Baba personally but I watched him play polo with other stars like the late Dapo Ojora at Ibadan tournaments held in the month of january of every year from the late eighties to early nineties.

Oh okay no worries. His house is opposite mine plus his first son is a Good friend. His last child (17YEARS) won the Peugeot Automobile of Nigeria tournament MVP 3-4 years ago at fifth chucker in Kaduna...
