The amount of battery and number of appliances on the inverter will determine how long it will run at night.

The only disadvantage is the high cost to setup. 5KVA solar generator that would run 24hours even in low sunlight can get you 25KVA diesel generator.
Some people will do it for less but if you are buying the recommended components such as Power MPPT voltage regulator and quality battery it will cost you more

It's worth it though, power frequency of solar power is usually smoother than even the power generated from PHCN. This means that any appliances on solar power can never get damage from power surge on normal usage

I don't like keeping the regular pets as my pets lol. As for monkeys, I'm kinda of a trouble maker lol so I can relate more with the animal, watching them do there mischievous things always makes me burst laughter .

I don't know how the generator emit heat to turn water to steam, maybe by burning of coal or burning some other mineral resources, but what I do know is that it's certainly an expensive process. The efficiency of this type of generator is as efficient as 47% compare to solar power which is just 24% in capacity factor. The advantages of solar over steam generator are:

*Energy source is absolutely free from sunlight
*It has few mechanical parts, hence little to no maintenance is required over a long period of time
*It generates the most steady frequency. Induction appliances and any form of appliances work better and last longer on a steady frequency
*It generates very little sounds. You can only hear sound from a spinning fan only when the inverter is delivering more than 50% of its capacity
*It's the cleanest form of energy

Disadvantages:
*Storage/battery is expensive and would start to disintegrate after 1000 circle or 5 to 10 years except the system run on NiCA battery which can last for 30 years but it's even more expensive, nevertheless, the solar panel can last for more than 30 years under normal conditions
*It takes lots of space. 5KVA solar panels arranged intermittently will take a garage space meant for 3 to 4 cars, therefore, solar garage is advisable (just use the solar panel to roof your carport)

how much do you think it can cost to build one that can only serve 3 bedroom and parlour flat.. I don't have heavy appliances the heaviest there is 2 air conditioner
