Seriously,I always love it when people like you pick issues with me,you're just helping me with unpaid adverts.

Now let me put you straight,I don't buy cars to resell in Lagos.I'm a customs lisenced agent who helps people clear their vehicles through customs at seme border, also I help clear goods(containers),make sure they're scanned before entry into Nigeria etc.

If any of my customers decide to resell these vehicles after importation into Nigeria,I'm not privy to that information. My job stops at the border immediately I've handed over your duty papers and you as the customer has verified that they're original.
Ok noted, you cleverly dodge my question cos you knew what I was going to ask next, I will let this o ne go

Sir,unlike the raggedy BMW which sells for like 300-350K in Cotonou which you tried to sell for 500K on Nairaland, you can get cars manufactured in 2012-13 in cotonou,it's just a case of cutting your coat according to your pocket, your money has to define your taste.
Ah glad you digged that one out as its one of the product of cotonou clearing agents like yourself, but just so you k now, I did ship up to 20 cars to cotonou back in the days and the only reason I did note this COS THE AAGE LINIT OF CARS THEN WAS 10 YEARS.

Do you want me to give you ten.
1.Buying from Cotonou gives you the opportunity of inspecting the car in it's natural state.Unlike bringing in a car from abroad, you've first hand knowledge of the car even if it has issues and can modify them before they get to Nigeria, you can't know if you're importing an accident car until it gets to Nigeria.

2.Mileage-unlike Lagos where you get 1999 cars with 80K mileage, cars in Cotonou have their mileages clearly indicated,if you buy a car from Cotonou and it's mileage has been rolled back,it was done by a Nigerian who went to the parks to buy and rolled back the mileage.

3.Bargaining-Aftre inspection, you've the luxury of choosing from thousands of cars and car dealers.Imagine you're in a park which covers 60 hectares and you still have like 6 parks to choose cars from,Cotonou is every bargain hunters dream come true.

4.Installmental payments-Yes,you can actually pay deposits and come back for your vehicles.Deposit agreements can last for 24hrs or 2 months,it all depends on the agreement.

5.Custom duty papers-You've the opportunity of verifying your duty papers even before your car leaves the border unlike Lagos ports cleared cars where you can hardly know if you've been handed fake papers printed for just 30,000 naira.

6.Port clearance-Cotonou port is every investors dream come true especially if you're importing expensive cars, the duty you pay on 2013 cars is the same you pay for a 1999 vehicle unlike Nigeria where you have to pay according to year or engine capacity and have I told you that demurage is 6months?.

7.Pimping of cars-Have I told you that Cotonou and border areas in Nigeria have the best workmen when it comes to pimping your car, when you buy that 2012 car and you want some special effects, there are so many french guys who will do it.

8.Since you've thousands of cars to choose from, even for a 2001 camry, you've so many options to choose from, you may even get to the parks and see so many cars, you may even decide to buy a car better than camry 01.

9.Security-if any item has been stolen from your vehicle,it was either stolen by your clearing agent or from the country it was brought from.In Cotonou, your cars are safe.

10. Time-Shipping a car in from america actually takes time, buying your dream car from Cotonou actually saves time. While you're withdrawing cash for purchase, you can declare your car in absentia to Nigerian customs, unless there's public holiday or escorts are on strike, your car gets to the border the next evening and you can move immediately your agent handsover the papers.
REPLIES TO UR ANSWERS
I 1.Buying from Cotonou gives you the opportunity of inspecting the car in it's natural state.Unlike bringing in a car from abroad, you've first hand knowledge of the car even if it has issues and can modify them before they get to Nigeria, you can't know if you're importing an accident car until it gets to Nigeria.
I give you that but at same time, you got lot of choices as well, it just depends on where you are buying from
2,,,Wel the issue of milage is on both side as I see no stopping of the dealer there in Benin rolling the milage back unless you are trying to say the guys over there are more honest, but i got a diffrent opinion to that as I dealt with them from 1999 until the Nigerian govt lifted the 10 year rule and placed it on 15 years.

3.I agree with you but you seem to forget the people who sell cars in Benin, they aint Nigerians, these are bulk importers

4. this is not limited to just one location, it could be done in Nigeria as well if you and the dealer reach an agreement, it has got all to do with market forces.

5 When I was talking bout dealing bear in mind that I buy from the USA and Eu to sell in 9ja, my base is not lagos so no real need to put them on here,So Im comparing myself to someone who buys cars from abroad for re sale in Nigeria.

6 Well I think the Nigerian system makes more sense as to the duty you pay, don't forget we are more richer than Benin as a country. The people from that country don't import cars, its foreigners who do.

7 I can buy the aftermarket bits and put them in the car b4 I ship them to 9ja

8 I choose to use that as a yard stick to measure as I have that car on a ship right about now,Im trying to compare your cost to my cost, you can Email me your estimate landing cost and i will tell you mine,Im trying to compare notes here, not arguing so there was no need for them insult you poured on me,Im not a kid when it comes to car sales, I shipped my first car December 1999.I dont think you have thought of be a clearing agent then.

9 Security at the port of Lagos can be attained, the watch word is let ur BoA get to ur clearing agent in time as this gets to you the importer 4 days max after the ship sails so DHL is next day to Lagos, my cars takes 3 days to leave the port max all of them and nothing get stolen or removed..

10. Well it does takes time but from the Eu it dont as ships leave for west Africa every week,Grimaldi is new to the US on RoRo.

Just a quick reminder cos people like you just like to talk, you have to go to my profile post to size me up if Im one of the major car dealers on this site NO,Im not cos I dont live in Lagos, you might be Older in Age but that aint nothing, from the way you are talking you wont have been an Agent for more than 5 years max, if you venture to the port in Lagos Opp Dangote, where the porta cabin is, there is a clearing agent there Omizu ent,I started delivering cars for that guy when I was just 16 years Old. Everybody in Benin says they are Custom clearing agents lol No Nigerian is in Benin, no one owns a car in any park in benin they are all Agents same as you seee in Alaba Int mkt,I use to Import crs to Benin but to Niger via benin port but that was when we could not bring above 10 years.I have challenged you to tell me the landing cost of 2001 camry you could not answer,Im asking you again deffend urself here,Howmuch will a 2001 Camry cost in Cotonou

It clearly shows that you are one of the lagos car dealers who show up on Nairaland to discredit what we do in Cotonou.
Now,let me take time to schol you a little bit,the fact that I bear a yoruba name doesn't make me a pure Nigerian. My great grandfather came from Ketu kingdom in Dahomey(Benin Republic) to settle down in Nigeria and if you check even in Benin, you'll still get people who speak yoruba and french but I speak fa little bit of french, yoruba and english cos I was born in Nigeria,my Dad before his death was a two time commissioner in Ogun state under Onabanjo and a special adviser under Otunba Gbenga Daniel,he even facilitated the visit of Yoruba speaking Obas'from Benin to Nigeria in 2009 while my mum holds a british passports, she stays in gillinham(U.K).I'm a lisenced agent at seme, which enables me clear a car into Nigeria and I also have a car stand in iju-ishaga,lagos state where I sell lagos cleared cars.In Rep.of Benin,I've had experience of clearing cars for years, you don't need to be a tout at the parks before clearing cars from cotonou,if you follow the legal processes and also finance you kinsmen to register as agents in Cotonou,I've beaten two things,I've trusted hands working with me and they're also natives who are backed by law,add that to an office in seme and in cotononu, all you can get is efficiency.I'm also not older than you,I'm just thirty-two years old with a BSC in Economics and an MBA in view from LASU,also you may feel free to note I'm a proffessional Cisco engineer and I install CCTV and car trackers too.

So when I talk,I'm talking with experience.I had to check your profile to see the kind of man I'm going to trash issues with.so it'll not be as if I'm here to waste my time.

Now back to the matter at hand, prices for 2001 camry varies and it's determined by quality and engine specfications.

Some with V6 engine cos they're scarce can be gotten for 1M,1.050M,while fabric can be 950-1.050-1.1M,depending on neatness and that's even after adding custom duty payable to Nigerian customs.

For example, shown below is an 01 camry XLE a dealer wants to sell for 900K naira and it's that way because camry XLE is scarce.Another pix shows a camry with V6 engine been checked at the border by a custom officer, after it was cleared by their office at seme.Like I've stated earlier, cotonou is all about money cos it'll determine your taste.

I don't want to start having arguments wuth you, like I've told it's lagos dealers like you who are always out to discredit agents who bring in cars from cotonou.

Now,the 950K-1.050M qoute I gave is for actual purchase+custom duty payable to Nigerian customs for a 2001 Camry with 4plugs,which means 950K has covered evrything from Cotonou to Nigeria,so it means no extracharge is added apart from my agent fees.when it comes to VIN check,a park in Cotonou is 40-50 hectares of land with at least 300 car dealers to a park which mean you can get like 30 sets of 01 camry within two hours if and when you need them,so you're free to check their VIN,even ii always advice my clients to check like five cars, they copy the VIn if they want, check when they get back to Nigeria and come back to buy anyone without faults, what're VIN numbers for?

Now I'll want join issues with you, you've a business and one thing I don't like is when people pock their nose where it's not needed, just today I've cleared 3 vehicle's through the border with one heading to PH.Do your business the way you want but don't come online and start discrediting another man's business, there are millions of prospective buyers in Nigeria and they are free to buy from any market. We have so manuy of you who come to Cotono and they do the 30K fake customs paper, before you know it a Cotonou car has been turned to a lagos cleared car, when the time comes,we will start exposing them,we also have so many of your type, the lagos dealers who bribe custom officials and they re-edit custom papers of the cars which have been cleared bfore for those just coming into Nigeria or do you think we at Seme don't know the trick lagos car dealers pull at the ports, where you even declare four cars as three.Leave my business alone and face your's.

Meanwhile anyone who want to come on here to scam other Nigerians shall B xposed by any means end of so next time you snap a car always post the VIN or else we will remind you. However its worrying to know you know the tricks up in the ports of Lagos, I never go to the ports, I just buy and my Agent clears car and my dealer sells them and I give him his cut end of,Im not a clearing agent of any sort,Im just fortunate enough to live abroad and have the opportunity of buying cars from the original owners with full service history most of the times so stop thinking Im a custom clearing agent as you put it lol

I can now see why I shouldn't join issues with someone who is so shallow minded like you are cos you seem to be enjoying this show.

So you actually expect me to post VIN of every vehicle I clear through the border or sell in Lagos on NL,are you so foolish that you can't realise that many of these cars aint mine and that the owner must have inspected them one time or the other before purchase or do you expect me to start posting VIN of every car which passes through my custody without the owner's consent..Seems you're the only eagle eyed man in this world who can see VIN on cars posted in NL.I don't even ship cars into Cotonou neither do I sell cars there, there are six or seven parks in Cotonou and each covers 50-60 hectares with at least 300 car dealers to a park,so tell me how I can get VIN of every car in cotonou, seriously are you that daft?.

I don't even know what you're trying to prove, this arguement has been on for days and no Nairalander has shown up to write about me scamming him/her,so I wonder why you're crying more than the bereaved. How many dealers on NL actually post details of VIN on nairaland or maybe the mere fact of not posting VIN is what an idiot like you're will call a scam.

I don't collect money to take people into Cotonou, neither do I help them bargain for cars, all I do is help them get this cars out of the border through the payment of custom duty and I want to belive I'm just one out of hundreds of agents at the border trying to make a living,so I don't think there's anything hidden in the whole process,if you buuy a car from cotonou, you can easily work to the custom's office at the border, declare your car and pay duty.

Seriously,I don't even know why I keep replying you,you may have your opinions but when a man I've never met in adam suddenly wakes up to label me a scammer, what ccomes to my mind is this-
Whatever you call me,I'll always make it but if you are making a false accusation without any proof/evidence of where and when I scammed someone,my Father in heaven will punish you and your future generation,in the mighty name of Jesus christ, every where you go or try to wotk,it's be blocked by the forces of heaven until you stop your attitude of pulling down another man's business,I stand on Christ solid rock and I declare that you'll always labour in vain if you can call me a scammer without proof/evidence.I have done business with so many people when it comes to cars, even people who I've never met have flown into to buy cars through me,right now even HCODE,a popular hip hop artiste in surulere actually bought a touareg which I once advertised and still uses it,likewise many other people,so what is your problem, what do you actually need from me apart from the explanations I've given you and every other Nairalander.

Seems you're just out to discredit agents who do honest in Cotonou and the border, joining issues with you seems to give the cheap popularity you crave for.The same man who posted a BMW and never wrote the truth about the AC or the car's condition until some people started raising eyebrows now calling someone a scammer, you must be a very big fool and I wonder what even prompted me to reply all these silly chats at the first instance, cos at the end of everything, you're entilted to your own opinion which must have been formed by a brain filled with indian hemp and other cheap drugs,I wonder where you even work in London, seems you claim to reside there, I might even invite you to gillinham in december.

Customs arrest seven for forgery

Author(s): Jewel Stephen

Officials of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone “A” of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) said they had arrested seven people for allegedly forging and falsifying customs documents.

Speaking in Ikeja on Friday, the unit Comptroller, Nuhu Mahmud, said the suspects, who comprised one female and six men were arrested by customs officials following a tip-off.

He said that three of the suspects specialised in issuing fake customs documents, while the female worked as their typist.
Mahmud said that the other suspect specialises in selling the fake customs papers.

The Unit Comptroller listed the items recovered from the suspects as two fake seals for Customs serial numbering, two fake seals of the Comptroller-General and fake exit permit stamps of Customs.
He added that Abdullahi Dikko, the Comptroller General of Customs, had created a forensic unit as part of efforts to ensure that activities of criminals were curtailed.

“The team in the forensic unit is responsible for investigating and tracking all persons that are associated with all forms of cyber crimes and related activities,” he said.Mahmud, who could not quantify the amount being lost to cybercrimes, described the crimes as economic sabotage and urged people to be cautious of business proposals and determine the authenticity of documents.
Mahmud advised Nigerians to desist from accepting ridiculously cheap offers from the Internet to avoid being duped by fraudsters.

Wale Adeniyi, the Public Relations Officer of the Customs, pointed out that there was always a security mark that would distinguish original customs documents from fake ones.

Adeniji gave the assurance that those arrested would be prosecuted to serve as deterrents to others.

It might be a slow process but surely, smugglers and fraudulent people who print fake custom documents at lagos ports and and borders will soon be caught.

Don't allow your agent smuggle in your vehicle into Nigeria neither should you allow him/her to short pay customs.Don't believe agents who will rather tell you they have ways of lowering prices or quote low prices when you make inquiries, like we've stated earlier the same custom officers who helps you smuggle your car into Nigeria might the next officer impounding your car.

For those who never believed us that there are fake duty papers coming out from lagos ports can now see that we've been vindicated, buying from lagos port is not a fail-proof process, always verify your custom duty documents.

For those buying from cotonou into Nigeria, always make sure your file jacket contains the following papers shown below, thanks.

When you are buying a car in cotonou you pay both the duty and the cost of the car at once its the car seller that collects the duty from you so its included in your car cost and their duty is the same for all cars, then if you are bringing it into nigeria you will be REQUIRED to pay nigeria customs duty also
like Lexus Rx 330 in coutonu how much to buy how much fro duty and is there any other money to pay over there in coutonu how much is it, please give all in sf not in NIRA. Tx
