VISA Approved today in Abuja 12pm

I didn’t see the Korean VO that’s talked about. Just one bald white male attended to most of us.

I am grateful for the community here. The information posted here and the transcripts helped me to prepare well. I feel getting the visa is easy if one is confident and have a good application. Tbh when I listening to some other interviews before my turn I could tell the outcome from the conversation. Most people don’t prepare well for the interviews and it sometimes obvious from their answers, so can’t really blame the VOs for refusing.

Thank you all.

That Bald VO is so cool. I pray many of us going for interview in Abuja gets to be interviewed by him!

VIsa Denied Today Abuja Around 11am
Me and My Wife carrying our baby: Good afternoon Sir
VO: Have you travelled out before?

Me: You mean me or my Wife?

VO: Any of you

Me: No , but my Wife Yes.

VO to my Wife: Which country did you go to?

My Wife: United Kingdom

VO: While typing already not interested in our response from his face. What did you travel to do? At this point I had become unstable.

My wife: I went on a care Visit, I went to take care of my sick brother.

VO to me: Why did you choose University of Arkansas?

Me: I chose the University because the industrial engineering programs has a added concentration on Operations research and manufacturing which are my core areas of interest. Apart from being among the top ranked universities in the US( I sha chop mouth here)

VO: Where are you working now:

Me : I work as a specialist Engineer in my company name: I quickly brought out my reference letter to give him , he said don’t worry.

VO : what area of engineering do you work?

Me: Telecommunications

VO; Nodes his head? What will you be doing after your program:

Me: My company is currently expanding into a few Africa countries and we plan to build over 5,000 telecommunications towers for the 5G technology in Nigeria. I intend to lead a technical role and it opens more opportunities for me.

VO: nodes his head still typing

VO: who is sponsoring you?

Me: my brother in-law mr Xyz

VO: what does he do?

Me: he is so so so in so so bank. I brought out the documents but he didn’t want to see them

VO: Keeps typing and typing and typing while we watch. Then the rejection line with blue paper.

I sha feel I didn’t answer my question as I planned due to fear. Almost 6 people ahead of me were denied due to that first question of travel history.

Is Well make una respond

Bro, you don't force documents unto them, you wait to be asked for it. Let's not allow this travel history thing disorient us. Nobody started travelling before he/she was born, there's always a first time and during my interview, two applicants without travel history got approved.. There are a host of other factors that these VO's look out for.

Thanks to those assisting to supply answers. God bless you!

I graduated with a second class lower distinction (2.6) in English, and had my masters in the same course. I wish to go study same course for PhD but from what I’ve read here, it seems like the requirements are way beyond my grades. Any help?

Also, do you think it’s necessary (for me) to write the English test of proficiency?
My question may seem funny but e get why. Please help. Thank you!

A PhD in that field of yours is viable, but has its limitations. What was your masters grade? Did you work on a thesis?. Sometimes your most recent grades are what schools use to judge and grade your mental uprightness. At this point, you should be taking any probable exam that can embellish your profile.

Good evening everyone.

Please is it possible to defer admission and resume in the next term after getting visa for a particular term.

For instance, is possible to get Visa in spring and defer to fall without entering the USA?

I just got admitted. I haven't started visa processing. My admission is for fall 2022 (August to December) and I got my admission in less than 2weeks that I applied.

Did you submit official transcript for this, please?

And also, which of the schools?

Thanks for the help.

Yes, this is possible. Your visa is valid from the date you were given till the expiry date that’s on it. You can defer to the next available term in as much you get an updated I-20 that shows your new program start date, then you can travel to the US anytime with your acquired visa before your program start date. This is my opinion. Others can enlighten on this if they know better

Once again, no VO will deny you Visa simply because you haven't traveled outside Nigeria before. Let us stop spreading this narrative. Every application is given a holistic review. My visa was approved last month despite not having any travel experience. Also, I have read countless transcripts here of people who got their visa application approved with Zero travel history too.

Basically what the VO wants to determine from your interview is that ;

You are a genuine student
You will come back after your studies (No immigration intent) and
You have available funds for tuition and other expenses.

One area I want applicants to focus on is their DS-160 form. In my opinion, this is the single most important aspect of your application. Make sure you use it (especially the work history and job description part) to sell yourself. Also, study everything that you have filled in your DS-160 properly. The moment you say anything during the interview that contradicts what you have in your DS-160 submission, you are going to get denied immediately irrespective of how minute the inconsistency is.

Finally, official information from the embassy is that you only need your Passport, SEVIS fee payment receipt, DS-160 confirmation page, appointment confirmation for your interview.

All those documents that you guys go to interviews with including academic qualifications, reference letters, letter of leave of absence, photographs, etc are all inconsequential. No VO will look at any of them. In the words of a certain VO, "they understand how easy it is to 'fabricate' some of these documents so they do not rely on them". They actually just want to hear you talk.

Even your statement of account is rarely requested. It is important to note that you must not offer your documents until and unless asked. Foisting your document on a VO will signal desperation and that is the easiest way to get denied.

I hope this helps some of you prepare for your interview.

you omitted i20 which is important to bring to the interview. Bringing along other requirements is very important as one can be denied visa of he or she doesn't have a document to back up a claim.

Thank you so much for the prompt response, well yes I worked on a thesis.
I had an equivalent of 3.4/5.0
What are the possible limitations in my desired course of studies? An alternative is a PhD in communications though…
I want to believe you mean the GRE +Toefl and maybe Duolingo… I would do those asap. Thank you!
