Good question. But on the issue of tithes i believe Reno Omokri has done some justice to it. For me personally i dont pay tithes, why? well my parents never paid tithes, no one in our parish that i know of paid tithes, there was never anything like tithe collection in my parish and even the other catholic churches that we do attend from time to time. I actually came to know about tithing during my service year. You can imagine how shocked i was that people give a part of their salary as tithes, even after offering. Alexaonfleek: |

Here in the west, we get updates on the finances of the church and it's expenditure, but in Nigeria everything is shrouded in secrecy. |

By their fruit you shall know them. So what's the correlation between tithes and wealth? There is unrighteous mammon and clean money. |

sonmvayina: You probably do not understand what Apostle Paul meant, AND I WILL Explain to you. Every laws of God should be obeyed to the very last letters, If you break one of the laws, then you are guilty of breaking every single law. e.g Even though I do not sleep with a married woman but because i not tell truth when I was 6 years old, last week or last month ,I am guilty according to the laws. So therefore I have sinned and wages of sin is death no exception. So I am guilty whether people say I am good man or I go church or I give to the poor or I do not drink or smoke or steal or whatever. Now What apostle Paul is trying to telling you and I was that Jesus Christ did not break any of the Laws and He never sinned . Christ died for us? Jesus Christ is the one who never broke the law He died for us. Romans 10: 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. Just because Christ is the end of the law for righteousness does not give me the license to continue disobeying the Law or keep sinning. I should live my life to please God and to love God means that i should keep his commandment or law and if I can't or struggle to , I ask God to forgiveness in Christ and rely on Christ. No one is perfect |

I don't like to weigh in on conversation like this as I find it absolutely ridiculous.. I've never seen any church that go out of their way "literally" to plead n beg members to pay tithe n first fruit, cos if one gives grudgingly, it's as good as he/she never even did (a futile effort).thus people should give if and when they want to give.(willingly). If Mr freeze wasn't so fixated at the affluence n opulence of this men of God maybe he'd have found other better things that needs his "thoughts n ideas" maybe he'd have been a "dangote" by now..Maybe he wants men of God to be suffering or something I don't quite get it .. Blasphemy against a prophet of God is not taken lightly.. Let's be guided.Live n let others live.shalom 2 Likes 1 Share |

Righteousness2: The church is not the building but the people of God. Those who truly serve God. So the first fruit should be shared among the members since they are the church if it must be collected. |

The essence of tithe and firstfruit offerings are; (1) School fee and legal consultancy fee Galat6:6, Malac2:7, (2) House rent, shop rent and ground rent for farming or mining use of land Psalm24:1, Malach1:14. Those who go to school and pay school fees, pay legal consultancy fees, buy bible from the market so as to read (Isaiah34:16, Daniel10:21, Reve1:1-3), pay house rent and shop rent and ground rent and taxes levied by government; such people do not owe the true God tithe or first fruit! Ezek45:9-10, Isaiah3:14-15. What such people owe the true God is freewill offering to a neighbour who seems to be in need: 'Is this not the fast that I YHWH have chosen? WHEN YOU SEE the naked that you clothe him and that you do not hide yourself from your own flesh (make yourself unaccessible to a fellow human who is on the look out for you because of a need for help) Isaiah58:6-7. |

Freeze pls shut up. I pay my first fruit last year at MFM, and God make me a millionaire the same year, when others are grieving cos of economic impact of covid-19, I took care of both my nuclear and extended family members completely. Financially 2020 is the best year for me since I was born. I'm packing my envelope already to give my first fruit offering this year, cos I don't want to slow down the rate God is blessing me. Story...those that will donate will donate. You can cry all you want. Those using their money to patronize prostitutes are there preach to them. Those using the money to fund Boko Haram are there preach to them. Those that are funding child trafficking are there please preach to them.
