It is because most of the men they are married to are average or poor men.

I haven't seen a woman married to an influential family complaining about the stress of change of name.

Sense full your head bro. Your answer is the bare truth!

Tell them.......its only stressful when your spending power is still under check.
I gave the security of NIN center here in the north 10k n after 5mins of him going inside, he back with d official men in uniform n I was escorted inside like a king. Last last I spent 17k n got my NIN slip without stress! Just make money!

You spent 17k on something technically free? Something you would get in under 30 minutes?

I didn't make money to bribe people. They should make their own.

Nah, majority of Nigerians actually believe stress and stressful situations is how we become strong o!

I will never forget a Twitter thread where people blasted a guy left right and center, for turning down a job offer of 150k because of the insane distance between the place of work and his place of abode.

I can't recall the exact locations but let me give an illustration. It was something like after Iyana-Ipaja (mainland) and Lakowe (Island). People called the guy lazy and all sorts of names.

Only a few of us were sane/reasonable enough to understand the guy's decision to decline that offer. People saw 150k and went crazy, some of us saw the toll, wear and tear such a job will have on him, because of proximity.

Two women tackled me on that thread like football grin even going as far as quoting scripture to justify their stance and why the guy was silly for turning down the job! Some Naija women like stress o!

Some stressful situations no doubt bring forth the best in us, like squeezing oranges to get the juice we enjoy BUT some are simply not worth it, they'll only create mental and physical health issues for you.

@ Topic, I am reminded of a neighbour who graduated from a Nigerian university but the school refused to issue a certificate because of change of name saga.

The details are fuzzy now but I vaguely recall it was a case of your name at Uni does not match the waec certificate you presented. Her mother divorced her step father and decided Mariam should revert to her original father's name and then yada yada yada. You sha get the picture.

4 years of her life in school just became wasted. She tried to fight/contest the issue but wasn't making headway. This kind of situation is enough to make you stick to one name alone throughout your life.

Even the banks give you a hard time when it comes to certain transactions, where your names are not adding up with data they have.

Why the need for name change?

You eye will open soon. But it's not stressful when she was doing documentation in registry? Or you thing registration for marriage comes easy? Now she got what she wants and forming its hard to change name. Lol

I blame the weak men Of nowadays. Change your name as my wife or I give you sack letter (If I be the men). Who get time for rubish...

The Argument In This Write-up Is Very Valid.
So Please, Stop Blaming The Ladies.
They Are Willing, But The Process Is Stressful.

If they say people who need 200k should change name, nobody will say it is stressful.

Your bank should change your name before NIN should do so

Nigeria is so bleeped up
Bank needs a government issued ID... Which I don't have... NiN wants bank to change it first which has not been possible

Ohhhhh

I went with my International passport as govt issued ID

That change of name is seriously a big issue.... One man went to court to get an Affidavit... They told him to go back to Newspaper company get a name publication... He did so... He came back again to get his name changed... They told him to get a Govt valid ID.... He pleaded with his soul and blood... It fell on deaf ears.. He just threw the whole documents on the Customer care attendant table and left out of annoyance

A well aged man ooo.... It was seriously frustrating

The process is not funny at all. I remember changing name to add my hubby's name only to go back to remove his name and attached his family name to my name because of NYSC certificate. The stress is not funny at all till today I can't use my NIN because it's not corresponding with my other name and document. This days the best option is just to answer your papa name to avoid Naija stress except you have something serious.

Why will you bear your husband's name and not his family name?

Girls these days are very confused people.

Same thing one girl I know is trying to do. Asking to be recognized by her husband's name and not his family name.

Her mumu never do.

Na Here the Feminists need to do a very big work..
“Paying Of Bride Price Must Be Abolished..”
Men and Women Are Supposed To Be Equal In Everything, so a man shouldn't be paying any dime for marrying a woman.
Feminists Should Move For The Abolition Of The Paying Of Bride Price, Including Settling Of Marriage Lists.
All these things makes the ladies to be seen as bought properties and commodities.
..
Are You Thinking What I'm Thinking??

Na Waa Ooo.
Why would the NIN demand that the name on the BVN should be changed first?
NIN doesn't require BVN..
Rather, it is BVN that requires NIN.
..
Why is it that our Nigerian system and our Government always making things very difficult for the citizens?
Who did we offend in this country?

My saving grace was that I had not registered for NIN. So when I went to do it, I used my husband's surname straight. Then I took the slip to the bank and updated my bvn and account.

This thing you typed here is trash.
The man is no more owing the woman's family, so why on earth would they recall their daughter?

Usually I don't like discussing spiritual matters with people who are spiritually inclined but I feel led to help your spiritual illiteracy.... Let me break it down for you in the language that you will understand.

For example:
1. You visit a car stand (Village Automobile)

2. You spot a nice car.

3. You make enquiry about the car.

4. Village Automobile told you about the price etc

5. You make payment.

6. Village Automobile hand over the car key to you.

7. You drove out without making change of ownership I.e. the car now bears your name and not that of the previous owner, Village Automobile).

8. If you don't go back to correct your error, technically, you are just renting.

9. Village Automobile one day decided to call police, informing them that his car was stolen.

10. Police will trace and arrest you.

11. You will claim "but I paid for this car....this is the receipt...."

11. Police will say, "okay, but the car document bears (Village Automobile)"

12. You will now say "errm ermmm..."police will say "my friend shut up...You be thief..come with us to the station."

13. Police will then return the vehicle back to the owner whose name is on the document, pending further investigation which can take months if not years.

14. You will be lamenting and counting your loss during this period.

15. May your spiritual understanding be enlightened.

Shalom
