internationalman: I no dey kuku work for there, I have just read far and wide about it, and I have been to the US myself a few times. I just made up my mind not too pay any agent to file anything, because na them dey cause problem. read about your case, ask questions from people that had the same or replica experience as yours, note down things and also get contact details for people that can help your case You would be fine, and also you would be knowledgeable about how visa process works. rather than pay one mumu agent, that you are probably smarter than, he would do nonsense work by lying and putting fake documents in your package. And still, collect money from you you people should run away from snake-oils men (A.K.A visa agents) run away from visa agents, they are evil. 1 Like 1 Share |

Timiofak: What'd you mean by fake documents.? Most of the documents they asked for we didn't have but we forged them and they approved of if and that's why we are at the visa processing stage There's a reason we forged them though |

On the other hand, I didn't even go to any embassy when I wanted to go to Israel. Everything came to me. [Israel another nice country. Can i pm you] |

nanotechy: First I'll say sorry about the visa denial. Second never say Thailand of all places, it boasts a stable economy as a leading tourism destination. What I can pick from what you shared is that you don't have detailed info about the TH visa procedure, learning on the process. I can imagine the stress you went through to get the NDLEA clearance certificate with their exhaustive demands only to be denied at the final stage. This is majorly due to the clearance certificate not legalized at the TH embassy in Abuja. Most South East Asia, Gulf and few European countries usually request authentication or legalization of any certificate issued in Nigeria before if can be valid overseas, whether it's education certificate, marriage or child birth certificate. I won't shy from the fact that Nigerians need to tender additional documents before obtaining immigration or clearance documents. Even at the point of entry, we are sometimes subjected to additional checks and verification by immigration. Hopefully we can all work to improve our national image and eliminate these travel hassles. |

Zeekyee: Thanks for caring. You are mostly right except with the suggestion that somehow our national image is to blame for all this.It has very little to do with our national image. South American countries are leaders in drug trafficking but other countries do not humiliate their citizens in this manner. We are cursed with evil and idiotic 'leaders'. Imagine a country still debating ranching vs nomadic cattle herding. |

I had my interview on Tuesday and I was refused visa ,I think it was entirely my fault as I answered all the questions with monosyllabic responses … I didn’t try to convince the vo… he asked what I do and I said ‘video editor ‘ he asked my purpose for visit and I said vacation lmao… could I have done better? Yes ofcos as I have travelled to many countries including Uk and Canada before.. all I wanted to do was spend 2 weeks vacation in us since I had never been there before. I’m married with a 4 year old kid but hubby was going to allow me go for vacation alone to blow off some steam after working so hard. I was denied based on the fact that i didn’t have strong ties which is ridiculous, would I leave my 4 year old kid behind and abscond? I intend to reapply and even if I get denied again, it won’t be because I didn’t do my best cos I knew I could have done better… the feeling of inadequacy makes me so sad and hunts me 2 Likes 1 Share |

Got my U.S F1 (Masters) visa couple of months ago. That was my first time application and I was somewhat indifferent about the possible outcome. Regardless, it came handy and here I am paying some damn bills and not earning shit! Studying 17hrs a day just to catch up with deadlines- funding with stipends is almost nothing, cause you pay certain fees and house rent (sometimes out of your pocket) and at the end of the day, you have nothing. Probably a rough start to career pathway but never come here without a solid financial background to keep you afloat. Many students are out of status and looking for who to marry! Regardless, here isn’t really EASY! I sometimes question my presence here, not just because I hate the weather, but the bills you pay and the study workload gives you no breathing space but to deliver. I’m not whining. Come here only if you have a solid plan or live like a fugitive. Not discouraging you, just a heads up that probably have been exhaustively addressed overtime. Goodluck. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

monfizzy: Yes, it is because you were once denied a US visa. There will be a question asked on the form which says have you been denied US visa before and if you say yes, that will automatically turn the application to a manual approval. Any such question when it is answered yes, the system is programmed not to give automatic approval as a British citizen or ESTA qualified applicant. Your form will revert to be reviewed manually. The CBP officer will then check why you were refused as a Nigerian citizen back then and will check other things and if satisfied, will approve it manually and you will get your 2 year permission to visit the US. Note that you must declare the visa refusal and if you don't, you will likely be excluded from visiting the US for a long time. 2 Likes |

Timiofak:Lol.. it was from the 3500 I paid 350 for her passport n another 350 for her visa thru an agent in Atlanta.. she refused doing it herself.. would have saved us extra 350 Then I booked her flight on United airlines for 240k So by the time she returned back to California No money again.. And she was only a casual worker n lost her job when she returned home as she didn't even tell her boss she was travelling to Africa. On my part... I even was sending her 100dols for about two months to help pay for her car loan as she was jobless then.. Anyways...that's past jare. Life goes on |

morgang: You have only been here for a couple of months and you want to start balling like lionlee or MackyNaija? Don’t be deluded, they were even in more mess than you are when they came in. The start is not always rosy. Face book squarely since that’s what you are here for. The monthly payment is called stipend because they know that it’s not salary and most times not a living wage but it’s enough to take you through your program if you are not planning to send money to someone back home. You could as well list out what you have seen differently from Nigeria in terms of educational provisions, and opportunities beyond your program. In the end, we look forward to a greater future. 1 Like |

Predstan: Lol I casually scheme through my post and I still can’t find where I lay emphasis on “balling-out”! My post is a mixture of ranting and advice to those who care to listen. I’m pretty much equipped and taught with sophisticated academic standards that I ever had compared to naija. As regards my stipends, it doesn’t cover the rent, hence leaves me with personal financial burden! However, this is an adventure with a seemingly rough start which I believe, shall end in praise. |

morgang: That rant about the standard of living and generally adapting to a new environment is actually some struggles that every successful person in life should go through. It helps to reshape you into someone that can manage success and appreciate the smallest gift of living a better life. Imagine you were paying tuition(out of state), that will even be more complicated but eventually, we will scape through and look back to those days. If your 20hours are not occupied in a week, you may consider doing some jobs to compensate your stipend. Rent is very important and a a constant flow of that amount should be guaranteed every month. 2 Likes |
