Tats:

Its not an automatic Visa to the US. You need to apply for an ESTA online for a 2-year permission to visit the US and in the form, you will need to declare the US refusal. That would mean that your application would never be auto approved like for most British Citizens and it will revert to manual review by a CBP officer for approval.

Hmmm why’s it so...coz I was once denied?

Okay. So I created this thread just to read about the challenges people faced, while trying to travel out of the country.... Let's hear your story..

US Embassy sha. I have traveled to 5 countries in Schengen area, one Asian country and studied in a European country. I was to travel to UK for the London book fair, and already got a visa. The Schengen Visa was free on a referral from secretary to the Ambassador to the country who gave me a note when i just introduced myself. I am an academic and a writer (my articles and N/p opinions have severally featured on the front page of this forum, posted by people that don't know I'm on Nairaland).
I had a full scholarship and decided to give it a bite. Face to face with the visa officer!
After answering some few questions, she said I was preaching her as if I was giving lectures and how could i leave my young family for 4 years. She entered the inner officer, came out and handed me the colored paper.
Second attempt, the Indian American guy was looking at me as if I was different from the picture on his computer. Two questions which I answered and he started talking in a hush tone. The second time I complained I couldn't hear him, he handed me the coloured paper.
Third attempt, I answered just two "irrelevant" questions and the VO, as if he was ordered beforehand to grant the visa approved it, rapping quickly and calling the next person.

I dont want to remember cry....mine was in 2005 USA Embassy.

I went there, when it was my turn, the lady was really Nice and kind hearted, she asked me a simple question after going thru my complete papers.....WHY DO YOU WANT TO STUDY IN THE UNITED STATES?

COME SEE sweat, stage fright caught....i started stammering as if I just lost my vocal cord....i couldn't be coherent. That was how I lost the chance. She stamped NIV received on my Passport.

But I never try after then

God go punish those agents just last year my sister in Germany paid 750k to one to add me on the list of those that will attend conference.

The guy started acting funny after the due date reached nah so my in-law(another sister of mine) who is a Naval Commander currently....tracked him and got him arrested...he vomited the whole money after they drilled him well.

So I have lost hope on Nigerian Agents, most of them are scammers.

They are currently processing my Visa to Europe and my other sibling is doing another one for USA. So that anyone that clicks, I will go.

I have Facebook friends and family members overseas that are willing to receive me in the US. All I need is to wait and pray.

I currently have a Jamaican American on facebook....she really likes me but told me how some Nigerian guys some of her friends helped broke the girls hearts later even herself too.

She even blocked me but later unblocked me after i told her I have 4 professors in the United States (USA trained) as uncles-I bear same surname with them(all of them are my fathers brothers) ....i gave her their names and details to confirm- I wrote on her facebook wall (she didn't fully block me)

I like the lady sha but I don't know how to win her over since she is already biased.

I dont know whether to tell her or not about the arrangements to travel to the States by my people.

No, I haven't. I am absolutely taking things easy and following due process. I will file for EB2 once I get a few of my PhD papers published. This is one way to save myself from more dramas. I have had enough with these Western women. Once you are Nigerian, some will straight up tag you 'paper hustler'... grin grin[/quote]

Office my ass, probably Uber, Doordash or Amazon. Those are the only kind of jobs giving referrals fees.

I was denied visa to Thailand! Thailand of all places. I had important conference and was told I needed a drug clearance certificate from NDLEA. I was in Naija for a few months so I paid a lot of money to apply for this stupid certificate in Portharcourt. At some point, I was invited by NDLEA to Lagos for interview. The entire process took at least 2 grueling months. Fast forward to a few weeks later when went to Washington DC to apply/interview for the Thai visa. I was told by an unsmiling Thai woman that the certificate I had with me needed endorsement by the Thai embassy in Abuja! I've never been more angry in my life. I told the woman, 'it's your people...put a call to your embassy in Abuja and have them verify..'. The woman said they have no connection whatsoever with their Abuja embassy. I sent a friend to the Thai embassy in Abuja but the was bounced at the gate because 'the person responsible for endorsing NDLEA certificates was on a 2 weeks vacation'. I was initially angry with the Thai people until I was told that it was my country Nigeria that requested for these Asian countries to request NDLEA certificates from naija citizens. It was supposed to be the most important conference in my career. I was funded by the US military and was supposed to speak in 2 different meetings. Thanks to Skype, I was able to speak in one remotely. It saddens me that there's no hope for Nigeria because we are lead by half educated idiots at every level.

grin grin grin I would argue that you simply reaped what you attempted to sow. You tried to scam your way to a visa and got scammed by a smarter scammer. There is precious little difference between the two of you.
