She actually started from the church, precisely the teenage/youth choir. Her total switch after winning the MTN Project Fame shocked her church and her pastor who suggested she went for the audition. Unfortunately, the church she has known all her life heavily influenced her secular music, which is why she struggled.

If any Christian musician is switching, it is best to adopt the folk genre. Simi did and is getting stronger.
