With a little advice. have lived in Gambia till 2015,Gambia is cool as long as you dont talk anyhow cos they have spies when yaya jammeh was the president. in terms of business very good. We have tons of naija guys in serekunda. I lived in Lamin and one other area which I cant remember. get a shop close to naija but make sure your stay is always up to date cos immigrations raid like anyhow. but when it comes to money my brother you would make money in any skillful way as long as it's not illegal cos spies plenty. Considering your business. what do you want go into? na question be that. I would advice you go there first and look for a teaching job which h is the easiest to get and from there start scanning to know what you can venture into because if you just go and start anything my brother you go hear am.
So should bolded bother you if you have your papers correct?

Lol, u will be surprised how great those smaller Africa countries are doing. Like someone said, tourist are usually in Gambia from novermber till may, spending their money in the country while Nigeria the so called giant of Africa rarely get any tourist. There was this black American actor who came to Nigeria just to explore Africa, I dunno who his tourist guide was in Nigeria, but they took him to port Harcourt refinery as a tourist destination, I was so embarrassed watching the video.
yeah gambia makes most of her revenue from tourism... Dem no really get natural resources... Nigeria is a sinking ship... With terrorism and kidnappings everywhere...nobody will want to visit Nigeria... And we are so blessed but equally corrupt.... The kids that have been abducted since January by bandits is a record that I see no country breaking

I am not the OP but I will answer.

First of all, Nigeria is not safe. Almost Nobody comes to Nigeria for vacations and stuff. You hardly see foreigners who come to spend money here.

Business in Nigeria is getting harder by the day. Especially small businesses. The waste management guys want to finish your money. Police are coming for security egunje, Vigilante people, Tax people etc
And you think Gambia is better..

Lol..

You can go through road, it will take you 6 days.
From Cotonu to Bamako, Mali 3 days from Bamako to Senegal-Gambia 3 days. It may reach 7 days.

Like....how much will it cost if u use road?

Nope.

You only need the residential/work permit which cost about D2,000 (N20,000) per year to process

Then you are free from their immigration harassment.

The population of gambia as a whole probably no reach kosofe, shomolu and amuwo odofin LGA and na that same small country you wan go dey do barber? The population alone is a disadvantage to you..considering dem say liberians sef plenty wey dey do barber there..

I read a certain comment that liberians and sirria loeners are giving Nigerian barbers a run for their money in gambia...i dont know you, but with 700k you can set up a very good barbing saloon in lagos.

With your 700k you can set up a good saloon in a good location in Lagos.

Has something bad ever happened to you in Lagos or why the 9ja no safe poem?

Seems you people have other intentions here cuz I noticed most people that comment on the first page have all been to Gambia before..

Any which way no weapon fashion against Nairalanders shall prosper..

I think i have said this befor
I grew up in the gambia
Truth is ehn you cant be extremely rich/wealthy in the gambia but u can be extremely comfortable.
Their security us top notch
Gambians are extremely friendly people.
Once you tell them you are a Nigerian dem go lobe you die.
All their banks are Nigerian banks
They have lots of Lebanese and Europeans retiring to live and set up businesses over there.
Before corona lock down
Tourism season around late october to march or something if you know your way around senegambia where most whites reside you could be making more than a thousand $$$ from your business expecially if u have a nicr car n be doing your own private uber sharing your numbers for tourists to book rides u go hammer.
I wont lie i never withness any car accident in the gambia .
I once came back from kololi beach alone around 3am in d morning saw heavy security on my way home they only checked my permit/passport no body asked who goes there or who goes u to snatch phone or rob me. Its a muslim country but walahi their girls are more nude than ppl acting porn no ome cares

$200 will be enough, change it to CFA francophone money. It should be about 120,000 CFA.

Power supply is 90% but sometimes there maybe problem. Senegal and Gambia shares border so you’re good to go

Thanks bro.

I will settle for either Rwanda, Tanzania and now probably Gambia. I was hoping for Germany. I have the opportunity to go, but I don't want to mess up my core African values. Go abroad, make plenty money, marry either a white woman and all your life ends there. Come back and marry a local woman, she gets there and becomes a titan.

I just weak. I want to be closer to home. Enjoy Lagos, Abuja, Calabar(my home state) and shuttle between Nigeria and any of the aforementioned that I decide to settle. I like peace.

Why not do the barbing in nigeria.
We have bigger population.

For some of you, you might not understand....there are certain point and situation in life when you will just want to be in oblivion because things are not working out ...you just want to go to somewhere nobody knows you and start life afresh, regardless of how low you will start. Society has put pressure on you within your locality that starting small will be deemed as failure.

When life hit me hard at a point, I considered going to faraway Sokoto state where no one knows me to hussle...This life no balance
