DSTV is not a government agency it is a private owned business federal government has no right to dictate the price of their services!

Will government also subside their operational cost??

IF YOU CANT AFFORD DSTV THEN GO FOR OTHER CHEAPER ONES! PERIOD.

It's a private business in a regulated industry. In such a scenario the regulator can ensure fairness in pricing and healthy competition to protect consumers from predatory practices.

Forcing prices is a big error
For starters, these guys pay for content in USD, we all know the exchange rates.

Does Nigeria have 247 power supply?

C'mon

Why/how are the reps "approving" prices for a privately owned company?

What are you talking about? MultiChoice offer the same Pay as you go in some African countries. Why can't they do the same in Nigeria?

The company will surely dance to their tones.

The cost of doing business is factored into their prices. For instance the NCC sets a floor and ceiling for Telco pricing so that they remain competitive and sustainably in business.

If there's no regulation DSTV can arbitrarily hike their prices whether or not external factors change just increase their revenue to the detriment of their customers, who are equally affected by dollar fluctuations.

Stop blaming DSTV for "Price hikes".

The highest bouquet has always been
fixed in the region of $50.

$50 during Obsanjo era was about N5000.
Today that same $50 is N25,000.

So, technically speaking, has DSTV increased?

Why are they not talking of bringing
Exchange rate or price of rice down❓❔

Some people are anti progressive... Black man mentality.

It is not black man mentality anything. It is simple economics. Nigerians love to bury head in sand sha. 1 year ago $/NGN was 360, but now its 460 (interbank), yet you expect a company that pays USD to Disney, Paramount etc for content to charge the same thing?? In 2020, diesel was as low as N155, now its N290, but you think costs can reduce

Yet you will be there expecting your company to increase salary because cost of living is going up! It is that lack of rationality and economic sense mentality that is more of the problem.

What do you say about DSTV prices in SA? In my opinion, I think prices of goods and services are suppose to be reflective of the current economic situations.

then what of operational costs for the company? I mean, if you are using economic situation as a yardstick, in the nigeria context, it means that the company are also struggling to get their services across to you which in turn affects their finances, shey make them reduce price of their service because economy hard? what about them? who compensates them for the deficit?

Good development, them just they chop our money since,

You go pay for subscription one month, possibility say na one week you go watch cos there is no light to enjoy your money and all they could do is go away with the rest.

Pay as you go is good like prepaid meter.

Is it DTSV problem there is no light? Nigerians love chasing shadows and scapegoats instead of facing who is causing their issue.

Same way indigenes in Niger Delta blame IOC's for lack of road, water, education, electricity. And yet, we are supposed to have LG, SG, FG and NDDC. But nobody faces them.
