Nope

Aros a re ruled by Akampka kings to this day of the Nnubi dynasty

They sold Eegboes as slaves for centuries

I thought you said Eegboe enwe Eze

Anywhere you find Kings it is due to conquest of Igala, Edo, Akampa etc

mumu man u had to quote me twice, have u heard any ibibio or efik man bear the name Akuma Nnubi ehn? that it is a typical Igbo man's name ode!

lol what kingship could settlers like Igala and benin bring into Igbo land when they were severly beaten by nsukkas and upland Igbos while the benins were kept at bay at agboh...98% of the kings in Igbo land today were installed by the british for indirect rule.

the only true kingship system which existed in Igbo land before the british came was the obi of onitcha, eze nri, eze aro, agbogidi of nnewi, enachioken of abiriba.

Always remember your history, u were conquered by fulanis, nupe, the worst em them was the females from dahomey that sold your weak asses.

We don't have issue with your Bini fairy tales.
In Igboland, Bini stories are known as fairy tales.
Our ancestors were amused by them. They couldn't understand why a fat not so brilliant man with Entourage of wives should be rulling a people and the people happily accepted.
It sounded unreal to them. They couldn't phantom such possibility.
It sounded like madness grin

Hence when some one tells a stupid non-plausible story, we say they are saying "Akuko Idu n'Oba" grin.

We don't tell you how stupid and weak we find your Monarchical system, because we generally mind our business.

But since the likes of Reno and you cannot feel good about yourselves unless you pokenose into Igbo history, we will henceforth tell you the ugly Truth we normally don't.

Ndo.[/s]

The bolded is a big contradiction to all that have happened to this thread

The Onitsha monarchical system was patterned like Benin own...
So anything u say, it also applied to the Igbos living in Onitsha there..

Different people and their system of government..

Many kingdoms practiced the same system of government practiced by the supposed inferior Benin kingdom like Oyo, The British, French, Russians...

So if u still don't understand while we did it, maybe its because ur ancestors didnt evolve to such stage yet

Igbo enwe Eze means lots of things. You have to be Igbo understand it.

1. It means there are no single king that rule all Igbo people.

2. It means that kings in Igboland are titular heads and not authoritarians. They were mere ceremonial entities and never really dictated for anyone.
The lands belonged to families and not to the King.

Akuma Nnubi is said to be an Akpa man and died shortly after the war, and so the Mantle went to Nnachi group.
Till today, the real identity of the Akpas or who they were is still not clear. To me, Akuma is a typical Igbo name still borne by Igbos all over Igboland till today. It means Wealth Knows. Full meaning should be "Aku ma onye nwe ya". Wealth knows who the owner is.

Either way, Akuma died and the current line of Eze Are the Nnachi group .

. "The first king (or Eze Aro) of a unified Arochukwu was Akuma but after his death, Nnachi son's Oke Nnachi took over and his descendants have the throne to this day."

Patterned inform of regalia and some other stuffs.
That's all about it.

Obi of Onitsha is not an authoritarian who dictated for Onitsha people.
There was Nze na Ozo
There was Ofo na Ogu, etc.

They borrowed the flamboyancy of your Monarchy but not the power of the Oba.

And mind you, the Bini Oba is a direct offshoot of Yoruba Oba, who civilized the bush Ogies of the Ogisos era and relegated them to the background and rule over them and their decendants till today.
I remember that the decendants of the Ogiemein are still in court today fighting to overthrow the Yoruba Oba rulling in Bini today. When you remember that Onitsha Igbo ancestors were in Ife and know a lot about Yoruba Obaship, you can begin to connect the dots.
So who knows, if we go to the root of it , it could as well be that Onitsha borrowed the Monarchy from Ife and not Bini, either way, Onitsha Monarchy was modified into acceptable Igbo tenets of democracy and Republicanism.
How about that?

Make up your minds

The reality is that The Aros sold millions of you and are ruled by foreigners
When the slave trade ended the population of slaves expanded but the kings remain Akamkpa

98% of Igbo land was egalitarian while 2% fraction had a kingship system of government. the rulers have always been Igbos, they bear Igbo names and observe Igbo custom and traditions since time immemorial but yolobas still remained the only defeated tribe in southern nigeria which are still ruled by fulanis from futa jallon lmaoss.

Nze na Ozo
Agbalanze
Otu Ozu
Ijele
Music style

Ufie
Egwu ota by Agbogidi

Languages.....i said 99.9 % Igbo and this is coming from their neighbors who intermarried and interacted with them for centuries.

The same way Ikenga cult from Igboland was downloaded in Bini as "Ikegobo", it's called cultural diffusion.
It's a Natural process, it doesn't have to mean that anyone conquered anyone.
Only people suffering from inferiority complex go about manufacturing fantasies of conquest when a neighbor borrow a culture from them and modify to suit themselves.

Details of the Benin Expedition

On 9 February 1897, the invasion of the Kingdom of Benin began. The British invasion force of about 1,200 Royal Marines, sailors and Niger Coast Protectorate Forces was organised into three columns: the 'Sapoba', 'Gwato' and 'Main' columns. Flotillas of warships (including HMS Philomel and Phoebe) and gunboats approached Benin City from the east and west.[14] The 'Sapoba' and 'Main' columns reached Benin City after ten days of fighting. The 'Gwato' column (under Captain Gallwey) took the same route as that taken by the previous mission and came on the scene of the massacre, finding headless bodies of the victims.[15]

Does Eze sound like Edo world to you?

Igbo enwe Eze yet we have word for Eze that remains same from Igbanke in Edo State, to Isobo in Cross River, and from Umuezekhoha in Benue to Ikwerre in Rivers State?

Where is your Brain?

Igbos had Ezes but they were stripped of powers and rendered ceremonial.
So yes we have Ezes, yet they were and are not Ezes in the real sense of what a King entails.
Hence Igbo enwe Eze is hard for a non Igbo to understand.

In Igbo we say: Eze bu ilo/iro meaning a King is an Enemy. We bear this as a name too to remind us why we don't want kings.

The ancient Igbos knew that the Idea of King with King powers is not beneficial to the people, so they either made away totally with kings, or retained kings but only as ceremonial vestiges and in priestly roles, to keep their powers well checked.

So yes! Igbo enwe Eze! cool
