I thought the Itsekiri's royals mother side is of Benin descent. Same reason they want to bypass Tsola because he is double Yoruba on both sides.

He's talking historically.
The people that make up itsekiri are believe to be from Ile Ife, but adopted a benin prince name ginuwa to be their king.

So the language is a mixture of Yoruba, Benin and a little bit of Portugal due to their contact with the Portuguese.

Ginuwa was a full blooded Benin when he arrived the present day warri with the eldest sons of all Benin chiefs.

They agreed that the first son of every Ogiame born by his Benin wife should only be crowned. The people of warri has the right to change their tradition without interference from outside forces.
