Re: Amcon Interview Next Phase! by Elhef(m): 9:57am On Aug 08, 2011
@ danny2010, i think you shld nt be despair at dis stage that we are. The truth is dat because the process is getting unnecessarily prolonged, a lot of people are geting discouraged. Please , let's keep praying to God that is good plans abt abt us as regrds this recruitment shall come to pass. With info dat I gathered and the indepedent research dat I had conducted on my own, AMCON will be a gud place to be. First, it's specialised bank(bad bank) dat is going to deal in alot of investment banking actvities. Being a new org, opportunies are abound for pioneer staff vis-a-vis qualitative trainings and sound career progression. Indeed for people dat aspire to be a rounded financial expert, amcon is a gud place to be.
Furthermore, it is being managed by someone dat has worked all his life in the investment subsector of the financial industry for over 20 years.
As regards d pay, during negotiations, a lot of factors come into play. it does nt really matter if someone has priced him/her self lower or higher. The hiring organisation will definitely make an offer to you if you had shown the qualities they desire during your various interactions. I had a personal experience and even a cousin. That we priced ourselves lower and when we got d job, we are offered far more than what we requested.
Please, let us all still press further and don't be discouraged. Best of luck to ALLOFUS

@elhef. Thanks for the words of encouragement. Glad to know that the salary mentioned at the interview is not a deciding factor. My second interview was great and I'm beginning to think perhaps I priced myself too high that's why i haven't been called. 3m per annum, legal officer, experienced hire. Is that too high?
Re: Amcon Interview Next Phase! by Elhef(m): 10:42am On Aug 08, 2011
@ ayandee, I think am nt in the best posotion to determine whether dat's too high or low. However, please neva post ur negotiated price on social ntwrk lyk dis again. Lot of people are accessing dis platform. Best of luck.

danny20101:

@bettymafy

firstly, the unit i'm interviewing for is not what i assumed it was about when i initially applied hence i wont get the specific experience I want
Then, i'm not too sure about the pay but from indications, it might not be what i expected. Its all speculations at the moment anyways. No one can give anyone the exact pay structure (not even the hcdc consultants). Its really up to the individual to convince the hr person among the 3 man panel at the first amcon interview panel you are worth a certain amount of compensation. Again, this is tricky cos there are so many equally or even more qualified people than you willing to take less pay. So if you are a bit pricey, that's the end of AMCON for the individual.

If anyone has the specifics of the pay structure, it would be good to share with the house. But the best i am aware of is its very similar to an average or above average paying bank (which even, i know sounds vague!)

There are a few personal reasons as well but its just my opinion anyways.

I had an interview in AMCON OFFICE but , my pricing was around 5m and the interviewers were visible angry at my request. I ask, is it wrong to ask big , when your experience corresponds?

@ danny can we talk ?
Re: Amcon Interview Next Phase! by Elhef(m): 1:56pm On Aug 08, 2011
BSF
Never be bothered with anybody's dispositions when u are negotiating. Ofcourse, you need to be mindful of countenance so dat you knw d direction of the negotiations. Whether to relax or maintain your quoted price. One thing you bear at the back of your mind is that the employers want the best @ d best cost possible nt necessarily the cheapest cost. That , the interviewers appear " visibly angry" is a psychological posture to make u shift your ground. Am still very positive. I had the same experience and they ask me to jusify why I wanted the amount dat I quoted and I did . Dat they are convinced abt the quoted amount by me is another ball game. You will definitely make offers based on their pay structures, years of experience and other considerations. It will nw be left to you to accept or reject.
WE SHALL ALL LAUGH AND REJOICE AT THE END OF THE DAY.

Re: Amcon Interview Next Phase! by Samrose: 12:51pm On Aug 12, 2011
Hey guys, its exactly two weeks today after I had my interview with HCDC. I am worried, I have not heard from them since then. Does it take this long to call people. I hear there are two more stages to go and recruitment process is to finish by end of month. what is the faith of us that are yet to be called for the 3 man AMCON interview panel?
@Danny2010 and others, please help.

On the issue of pay, I wish to advice all Nairalanders to be patient. When an offer is made all these will be made known and upon such, one can decide whether to accept or decline.

Wishing us all the best.
Re: Amcon Interview Next Phase! by Blundy: 3:28pm On Aug 12, 2011

Re: Amcon Interview Next Phase! by chazay: 9:54am On Aug 13, 2011
@ Danny 2010, please did you still enquire on the status of financial performance management? It seems this week there was less activity at amcon, we heard little from the house people attending any stage of interview. We just hope the 'naija factor' has not crept into the employment process.(lord have mercyon us
Re: Amcon Interview Next Phase! by ayandee: 10:35am On Aug 13, 2011
I mailed Amcon this week on the status of my application. I got an auto response from one of d directors that he/she is out of office on official duties from 8th Aug. I was referred to another official but i don't want to enquire anymore. I'll keep hoping
Re: Amcon Interview Next Phase! by danny20101: 6:21pm On Aug 13, 2011
@chazay, apologies I've been pretty busy with other stuff wink so i haven't had time to inquire about amcon recruitment. All i've heard is from people who call me wanting more information! I would let you know if i hear anything about financial performance mgt.

At this point, its a bit tricky for anyone to get information from AMCON staff about the recruitment because there are so many interviewers involved cos of the wide range of roles AMCON is recruiting for and I won't want to give out information that's untrue,

All i heard this week is just a confirmation of ayandee's mail. Some directors are not around so final interviews are on hold for about 2 weeks. (i heard first 2 wks of august) So those waiting for final interviews should not worry too much, there's been a pause in that.

There were still 3 panel AMCON interviews on friday so I'm sure they would continue to the following weeks for those who haven't been interviewed by AMCON at all.

@banking relation guys; AMCON interviews are yet to hold at all for this category. I understand its based on demand by AMCON that HCDC forwards the names of those on pass lists for different roles.

so samrose, try not to worry and pray for the best. I dont know much about the August finish date but I was told in May the recruitment will end June ending so till it actually ends, Also, from what i understand, if you are interviewed in Lagos, you will be in lagos office.

Cheers
