You are too negative and limited in your thinking... You need to change this mentality. I mean this with all due respect.

Leadership can never be denied! Leadership, true leadership births a nation that can never bow to external forces! Do some research please.

Quit making excuses for the lack of leadership quality of your failed elders! They failed not because their hands were tied, but because their consciences were corrupted by greed and lack of patriotism!!! SIMPLE!!!

Note: I don't deny the presence of external influences all round, but when you see leaders with vision, nothing will hold them back!!!

Let's use Mali as an example. France still thinks it owns Mali that's why they have 5000 soldiers there as we speak. They are about to lose MALI though and they have tried all sorts to hold on. Fighting colonization is not easy. Follow african news and you will start to understand what's going on.

This year alone there have been at least 5 attempts to murder African heads of state for failing to do the will of European states. It's all in the news. Read the news and follow african politics.

Useless talk!!

South Africa, Kenya, Ghana and other seemingly British colonized countries around the world are at least stable. Why is Nigeria so different Extended white rule in Nigeria, would have been better

This con3 needs massive structural reforms.. .

The country does not need structural reform.

You can reform from now till eternity, the mentality and ideology remains the same. If you reform Nigeria today, same people will still be in the corridors of power with same intent- that won't change. The political godfather's will still be same. So what's the use of restructuring when the human resource have no will or zeal to deliver. Look at a small Bayelsa State, with it's low population and allocation, what has it achieved in 20 years? So even of it becomes a country, the norm will still be the norm.

the Canadian natives (metis, inuit, aborigines, cree, Mohawks, etc are still suffering till this day as their land was taken from them by the British.
But Nigerians are craving to be in canada. Many Nigerians are working and buying house there. I tell you the diffence is clear. You failed to say anything about people who blame oyinbo and after stealing here they rush there and Dubai to buy properties.

SHUT UP. HE IS SAYING THE TRUTH. Oyinbo asss licker.

The British ruled for 80 years, exporting our resources, and at the end we did not have a single power plant or university or expressway or industry.

Kainji dam was our first power plant, commissioned by the Balewa administration in 1964.

Prior to that the British merely imported a few industrial generators to power the GRAs they were living in, while the rest of Nigeria used lanterns and candles.

Nigeria was a near total bush in 1960 at independence with mass illiteracy and malnutrition.

What did your 'perfect white man' do with the trillions he made from our exports in 80 years?

You are VERY LUCKY we gained independence in 1960 which led to mass education investment by the black govts.

Or else by now you would be hunting cockroaches and tapping palm wine in the bush like your illiterate grandpa did under colonial rule.

Like they did in South Africa ? Ok after 80 years rule, black have been ruling for 61 years, old was discovered 3-4 years before, so now what? Explain 61 years to redefine the ugly situation, 61 years to make Nigeria a true great nation, 61 years is enough to reestablish itself as a force.

exactly my point!! That is the issue! You see Nigeria was never set or ripe to have gained independent from the British!! The fundamental problem will still continue unless a systemic structural reforms r done , especially the Constitution .. . Our early leaders shouldn't have asked for Independence ; they were just greedy and despirate .. so unfortunate

So, what exactly is your point in all these??! We should all hands up and give up all hope of progress, of freedom, of economic liberation??!...

That's too defeatist... There is a way out! It is called progressive and determined leadership! A leadership that is people-oriented! One that will unite the people and inspire them to economically revolt!

I have seen it happen... It is not a pipe dream!

The post-colonial government in Nigeria is a continuation of the colonial system but in a very crude and unsystematic way. They are worse than the oyinbos. It's the government against the people. It has always been and will always be until the people wake up from their deep slumber.

How many power plants were in the UK then? Romans plundered Europe for centuries how many Europeans blame Rome today for poverty? Abdulsalam should tell us how many children his gateman has and his driver then let's find out how many children their equals in developed countries have so that we see who has more mouths to feed. Russian President, Vladimir Putin,
“Africa is a cemetery for African leaders” especially when you talk about many African politicians who have acquired questionable wealth and dirty riches through kleptocracy, corruption, plunder of public resources and consequently seek to lavishly spend it abroad or hide it in offshore bank accounts than at home.

America’s Donald Trump believes that “Africa is a shit hole” especially again from the way many African leaders openly steal from state coffers and plunder public resources while their majority voters die in abject poverty.
