Agreed..in as much as the stats favor boxing. But asides punching, boxing has no other form of attack.
But MMA incorporates other forms of attack that are equally as deadly as punching.
Punching
Kicking
Elbows
Knees
Slamming
Suffocation..
..even when pinned..fight continues..
.. anyone of the attacks can kill. That pple haven't died as much doesn't make it less deadly..

The punches in MMA are not the same with boxing o. The average boxer is a much harder puncher and can kill with one punch. About the other forms of attack, many of them are not focused on the head like in boxing, and as for suffocation, that won't happen because MMA fighters can tap out and referees will also step in to prevent that. The statistics clearly show MMA is not as deadly as boxing.

What these promoters dont want us to know is, boxing is money. Not in itself but the marketability of the fighters. AJ was starting to bore the powers that be. Why would AJ have 3 belts and be clean like that? No scandals, no sensationalism, no hype nada, just talking like an ivy league trained boxer all the time. When you compare AJ with notable champions (Ali, Tyson, Mayweather, Fury, Toney etc) you wonder if boxing was just something that helped him get out of trouble back then and was never really something he assumed would get him that far doing. That AJ kind of champion was not profitting anyone but AJ. While he was getting the endorsements and interviews, staying out of controversies, doling respect anyhow, the boxing powers were of the opinion this guy is not building any ratings, earning any publicity beyond himself (Even Jarrell Miller boosted rating by his shoving AJ....) who that kind AJ gentleman personality help? This was why he had to go, they had to ruffle his demeanour, get him to show his beast side, if it ever was there...and by whom? A Cruiser weight who was levels beyond AJ. Losing to USYK would and did bring back the hype of the heavy weight again. The only way he can win that rematch, even if they would let him to, is to get a little bad boy into his persona, make them some money/publicity anyhow good or bad.

On the other hand, there is that possibility that all these events are being orchestrated. AJ would have been a better opponent compared to Wilder and they knew that. There was a possibility that AJ would slap Fury about (remember Otto Wallin) even create an upset but then where is the money in all 4 belts being with a British (one) champion? Rather let the Ukrainian get the belt, so the Ukrainians can bring some hype to global boxing like the Klitschkos did.

Either way, boxing should be abolished. It is a sport that legalizes people receiving blows to the head which puts them in danger during and after their career .
