Lol.. We opened a thread exposing the fact that there is no word for 'Love' in ibo vocabulary but they quickly swooped on it, reported & got the thread deleted. As usual, all i see here is 'Love' with no one perfectly translating into an ibo word. The closest is Ifunanya- which means' to look into the eyes'. Small Love-- ibo translation small-- nwantiti Love-- ?? - erase the dot |

EraseTheDot:Seriously? Go and get busy with life. Time wait for nobody. If you want igbo people to tell you the meaning of love in igbo, ask kindly. Forming king David online. How irritating. 1 Like |

EraseTheDot: Lol! Okay. First of all, it is “Asusu Igbo” and not “Asusu Ibo”. Secondly, I just typed lyrics of an old evergreen song. I am not supposed to tamper with the original lyrics. If you change it to “Ihunanya/ifunanya nwantiti” without the requisite approvals, don’t you think we will face copyright infringement issues? |

EraseTheDot:And your wisdom failed you to understand that "ifunanya" does not mean to look into the eyes. "Ifu" means "to see" "anya" means "eye(s)" How then does "ifunanya" mean "to look into the eyes" Well, for your information, "look" is "lee/le" in igbo language. "See" is "hu" in general igbo or "fu" in tribalistic igbo common among the Anambra igbo. Now, "ifunanya" or "ihunanya" means "to see in the eye(s) since "n" is a preposition translated as "in" in this regard. Together as a noun; "ifunanya" or "ihunanya" means nothing but a figurative noun for "love" since it is unexplainable and love has to do with sight. As a clause, "ifunanya" or "ihunanya" written in igbo language as "I fu n'anya" or "I hu n'anya" means "to see in the eye(s)". And this doesn't make any sense. If you cannot unequivocally and unambiguously define "love", then you have no business defining "ifunanya". Leave alone for the language for the owners. |

Did you know that "GB" is the 8th letter of the Igbo alphabet like it is seen in Igbo. |
