He paid for my flight ticket and was the one that processed the visa for me (tourism) and he is currently working on how my visa can be extended and my work permit too.

Before I came to Dubai, I applied for this opening with a tech firm in Berlin. I completed the last stage here in Dubai and have been sent the offer but I will have to relocate to Germany because the work is on-site, the company bare expenses regards flight ticket, travel insurance, visa process et al. The start salary is 56K euros per annum (gross).

Also, I resigned from a bank as a development specialist (full-time staff not yet confirmed though, was earning 450K naira net with other benefits) prior to my trip to Dubai. I was doing well in Nigeria because I earned a total of up to 800K (with all my works combined) just that the work ethic (the bank work) is toxic to me because you will work your brain out debugging code, plus I am looking at a good place that I can start a family when I am ready and Nigeria is a no for me unless I have enough money to send my kid abroad to study.

What do I do now that I am already in Dubai? I am passionate about tech and I love the echo system. Please any input from experienced fellows will go a long way for me.

Go to Germany and build your life and career, do not let anyone deceive you Berlin is better than Dubai in terms of getting a permanent stay and also earning

Germany is not where the highest paid software guys are, but 56k gross (Brutto), about 33k net(Netto) per annum is not bad at all.

Club manager is not waht i would be doing with tech skills and experience.

I would say, move to Germany.

I understand you’re conflicted because of your feelings of debt, gratitude or not wanting to disappoint your friend and benefactor.
He must have invested time and resources to bring you to Dubai and you don’t want it to seem like you let him down.
Just calmly explain the situation to him, I believe he will understand; unless he’s someone that stands on the way of progress.

Everyone is advising him to move to Germany and forget Dubai….no one seems to remember or talk about his friend who processed his visa and made his Dubai trip possible…the friend at the moment is working hard to extend his stay in Dubai…

I think moving to Germany is good for his development. The Dubai business is a deviation from his career pathway….but he has to sit down with his friend and have a heart to heart talk. The guy must have invested a lot and he must be paid back or compensated.

Baring linguistic barriers, I think Germany is the place as it offers the right opportunity to grow and develop but he has to pay back his friend.

What aspect of software development are you into

As an IT engineer based in Germany myself, I will tell you to go to Germany. With your salary you will be Eligible for an EU blue card which is very rare and difficult to get on entry, after 3yrs you will be eligible for PR. I doubt you will get this in Dubai even if you make more money. Plus Germany is the hub of Tech in Europe, NO CAP, so think about it

First of all, why did you even consider leaving a career in Tech to chase an entertainment career. Does this even make sense to you?

Living in Berlin means you have conquered job security for the rest of your life. You can never run short of jobs in Berlin, even as a beginner learning HTML, I swear you will find jobs.

Even if you get sacked, in a month recruiters will be begging for your time. The job market there is like 100 Jobs to 20 applicants.

In fact, your 800k job in Nigeria is way better than moving to Dubai to manage a club.

I have been Invited for Face to Face Interviews by companies outside of Nigeria and they paid for the trip completely with hotel bookings.

Germany o... career wise, Germany is still the best but a club at Dubai especially when you're not from Dubai can be raided any time and you will always be at the mercy of your friend because one way or another your decisions will have to insert and accommodate him before you can make your own decisions
