The Edo chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called for an immediate and unconditional halt to the plan by the state government to demolish Benin Central Hospital and in its place build an ultra-modern motor park.


In a statement issued by its State Assistant Publicity Secretary, Victor Osheobo, on Monday in Benin, the APC described the plan as a plot to “Make Edo Grounded Again” (MEGA).

According to the party, there is no wisdom in the reason advanced by the government for the proposed demolition of the hospital which is to make way for an ultra-modern Motor Park to decongest the city centre and ultimately generate additional revenue for the state.

We label such thinking not only as weird and evil, but also unacceptable.

“This is because no right thinking government will prefer to replace a viable health facility, which it should equip and staff, to better cater for the well-being of the people, with a Motor Park.

Government can keep financing a dead edifice because Na hospital..

Ultra modern park like oshodi interchange will do a lot for Edo government and even help position Benin city.

I wanted to bash Obaseki for going so low in try to erase Oshiomole memory in Edo but it seems some Edo people are supporting his intended action so let him carry on.

That hospital has been there for ages, he can relocate it but not bad,but make that place a motor park is uncalled for.
Stella Obasanjo hospital is there let him develop it.
More over Edo State or the entire Benin. City lack enough primary health centers.
I will surport him to demolish the state house of assembly by Ring Road & relocate that complex to somewhere else & turn that place into an ultra-modern motor park, that will be cool by me.

There is a dire need for such park as it would decongest traffic at the city center, improve safety and security, and generate much needed IGR for infrastructural development.
Edo is lacking in terms of infrastructural development; this has affected the state negatively in terms of attracting investments, whether foreign or local.

One major challenge the State also has is that BEDC!
