Governor Babagana Umara Zulum on Wednesday revealed that Abadam and Guzamala Local Government Areas in Borno state are still under the control of Boko Haram sect.

This revelation by the Governor corroborated the statement earlier credited to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Abdulkarim Lawan who told Journalists recently that 99% of communities of Guzamala Council area where he hail from are under the control of Boko Haram.

Terrorists on the rampage in Plateau, Niger, kill 52, abduct hunters, others

Fifty-two persons have been killed in separate attacks on communities in Plateau and Niger states.

While 18 persons were confirmed killed after gunmen attacked the Ncha community in the Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, gunmen on Wednesday attacked two communities in Niger State and killed 34 persons.

The Niger State incident appeared to be reprisal as a few weeks ago some special hunters and local vigilantes killed scores of gunmen who were e terrorising the communities.

The gunmen launched Wednesday’s attack on Nakuna and Wurukuchi communities when the villagers were on their farms harvesting produce.

All the houses in Nakuna, with a population of about 200, were burnt down by the gunmen, who invaded the community in search of vigilantes.

According to Yahaya Mota, who lost 10 members of his family to the attack, 20 other bodies were discovered in the bush.

Bandits have abducted an unspecified number of traders when they attacked their convoy along Kaduna-Birnin Gwari Highway.

It was gathered that one trader was feared killed by the bandits when they blocked the highway closed to Unguwar Yako Forest around 11am on Wednesday.

Daily Trust learnt that the victims were on their way to Kaduna and Kano states.

A resident at Buruku town who craved anonymity said, “They attacked the convoy and abducted an unspecified number and one person was said to have been killed. The people were on their way to Kano and Kaduna.”

A health worker in Birnin Gwari also confirmed the attack saying one of their staff wives was among those abducted.

Efforts to speak with the police spokesman in the state, ASP Jalige Mohammed, failed as calls to his phone were not answered at the time of filing this report.

EXCLUSIVE: Photos Of Tax Receipts Issued By Boko Haram To Farmers, Herdsmen In Borno Controlled Territories

Some of the tax receipts issued by the Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), to farmers and herdsman in the North-East states have been obtained by SaharaReporters.

The receipts were issued to residents of some farming communities in Borno State under the control of the terror group after collection of levies and taxes from them.

SaharaReporters had in several reports in 2021 reported how the insurgents had been taxing residents of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe State.

Sources said failure of the residents to comply with the directive attracts the death penalty.

SaharaReporters also reported how ISWAP established two Wilaya’s (Caliphates) at Lake Chad and Sambisa forest to sustain its war against countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Boko Haram terrorists have abducted an unspecified number of mobile policemen at the police mobile training school in limankara Gwoza local government area of Borno State, the hometown of Senator Ali Ndume, the Chairman Senate Committee on Army.

Information available to The PUNCH revealed that the insurgent fighters attacked the training school around 8:22 on Thursday the 13 of January in the night with gun trucks and shot sporadically into the air before kidnapping the mobile Police instructors

Many residents of Kautikari, a town in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, have been feared dead after militants from the Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province attacked the community.

A resident told SaharaReporters that the terrorists, who came in no fewer than 10 gun trucks, stormed the community around 8:00pm on Friday and immediately began to set houses ablaze.

“They are burning many houses as we speak and it is night, you should know the terrain of this place. We don’t know the number of casualties yet three people have been confirmed dead already.

“They came in this evening and started shooting sporadically. Most of the villagers have run into the bush,” the resident told SaharaReporters on phone.

Banditry, killings and abductions for ransom as again taken a centre stage with a huge number of bandits. on Friday, invading Dankade village under Zuru emirate in Kebbi state killing at least 16 civilians, a one-armed policeman and a soldier.

According to the Kebbi State police command PRO, DSP Nafiu Abubakar, the bandits were engaged by Police and the military forcing the bandits to leave their targets.

The State police command PRO told Vanguard that the bandits, through another route, invaded Dankade village where they killed at least 16 civilians, including a policeman and a soldier and yet-to-be ascertain a number of civilians were also abducted by the bandits.

He added that “bandits also set a number of houses ablaze. “The Kebbi state police commissioner CP Musa Baba has since mobilised armed officers and men to the scene of the incident for an on the spot assessment of damages and restore normalcy at the affected village.

An unconfirmed report from another source who doesn’t want to be named claimed that at least 50 people were reportedly killed in the Dankade attack, this came barely one week after the second batch of FGC Birnin Yauri students regained freedom.

Kaduna State Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, said no fewer than 1,192 persons were killed, 3,348 kidnapped while at least 891 people were injured due to banditry and other violent crimes in 2021.

The Commissioner of the Ministry in the state, Samuel Aruwan, made this revelation while presenting the annual security report for the year under review to the Governor and other officials of the Kaduna state Government on Tuesday.

He explained that the Central senatorial zone of the state comprising Brinin Gwari, Chikun, Igabi ,Kajuru, Kaduna North and South Local councils is the most affected regions.

He also noted that at lease 45 Persons were raped by armed bandits with 29 of the victims being minors.

On receiving the report, Governor Nasir El-Rufai condemned the violation of human lives and sent condolences to families of those affected.

The Governor called for an urgent national effort to strengthen security agencies in the fight which will include the provision of more sophisticated weapons and the recruitment of more troops.

The Governor further called on the federal government to create a theatre command in Kaduna State as done in North East, to enhance a more wholistic kinetic military approach in the fight against insurgents and all forms of criminality.

Heads of security agencies, Federal and State lawmakers who were also at the meeting unanimously commended the armed forces for their efforts and sacrifices.
