Of course natural delivery is always the best. If you have witnessed CS, you won't even advice your wife to go for it. It's actually a major operation, even though doctors make it look simple. CS will open a woman up the same way you open you chicken, goat, or other live stocks when you want to prepare them for pepper soup grin.
Like I said, natural is the best. Nothing beats anything natural. You will have your peace. But then like people have suggested, your gynaecologist is the only person to decide now because it's only his opinion that counts here. But if there's a choice to choose between the two without any adverse affect, please go for natural. Congratulations sir!

He's a private doc, one that would never answer a simple question over the phone. You'll need to come to the hospital, fill a form and lay your complaint. Two times my wife had diarrhea and we had to come to the hospital and do a blood test. And on those two occasions he recommended ORS. I've asked him and all he keeps saying is 'When we see', meaning I have to come and see him face-to-face again.

I'm not saying C -Section babies are not normal o. I'm just worried about safety of all concerned. You will agree with me that women of nowadays are not as strong as our mothers, they want everything easy. I want it easy too, I love my wife more than I love myself.

As for the twins, I didn't expect it either. I didn't want her to do a scan but after seeing the size of her stomach I had to. And trust me, even though I'm glad to be a 'Papa Ejima' I'm equally worried about the cost. grin Already, the hospital has told us to buy another round of the very things we bought before for one baby.

All my 3 kids were born through CS in 2017 2019 and 2021 respectively, they are all in healthy condition including their mum.

If you need any question feel free

Go with your doctor's advice. Labour and vaginal delivery are quite exhausting for singletons, I can only imagine how much more for multiples.
The provisional decision lies with your wife and her obgyn, not you. However the circumstances at the time of labour/delivery will ultimately determine the mode of birth.
There's also vaginal birth with epidural to consider.

Hi, guys.

Please I need professional advice on which to go for. All praises to God, my wife is heavily pregnant with twins. From the last scan the babies are weighing 2.7kg and 2.4kg respectively. That's quite big for babies that are 7 months. And the expected period of delivery is between April ending and early May. Which means they may still grow bigger with time.

So I'm sincerely concerned about the safety of my wife and the babies, especially my wife coz her belly is so big that people are wondering why she hasn't put to bed yet. Although, she's very healthy and seems less bothered. But I'm not finding it easy here. I want to know if Cesarian Section is a better option for delivering the babies or should we have the natural one instead.

Please, doctors, health professionals and experienced mothers in the house, let me learn from you. Thanks

2.7 and 2.4kg at 7 month is quite big if you're sure about the figures. Those are normally weights you get closer to term.
Anyway it's always less confusing using weeks (than months) when it comes to gestational age. Makes for better appreciation of advancement.

About which is better (all things being equal)?
I wanted NB in my wife's case but had to follow medical advice & allow CS (earlier in the month when the leading baby turned out breech).
The overriding interest should be safety of mother and babies.

But it really is out of your hands 'technically' smiley
If it's a primer like in my case I think you should prepare for CS as most medics involved in these situation these days generally don't like the stress of NB and the higher level of unpredictability that comes with it. It does feel they're looking for every reason these days to opt for CS. That it's a private hospital raises the probability of it being a CS even further cheesy

But in all things, the overriding objective is the safety of mother and babies so even if it ends in a CS it's not necessarily a bad thing, if anything, it's fractionally maybe the less volatile solution.
Congratulations in advance.

Motherhood is a lifetime commitment and task. I would never understand why a woman’s strength would be judged by just one aspect of it. Heck, she carried the baby to term herself!!

Who even convinced Nigerians that CS is for the weak? Lol. Is there any way to birth a child that doesn’t tell on a woman? Have you ever tried to stand after an appendix operation? Let alone a CS with all the stitches pulling your skin with every step. Abeg, don’t go there.

I beg you go to a very good federal hospital to deliver those babies. I am a medical Doctor and have zero confidence in private hospitals especially Doctors that are demi-gods. Let her get a referral now, better than if things get complicated.
To your question, there are certain factors that determine whether she delivers via vaginal delivery or not
1) Is this her first delivery? It will most likely be a CS
2) Is the first twin in cephalic presentation?
3) Is her pelvis adequate?
4)Medical history such as hypertension, diabetes etc
All in all I wish her safe delivery.
Peace

Why are you discrediting private hospitals sir? It's very wrong to do that.
The consultation who run these hospitals are the same people who u feel are the best when u meet them in government facilities.

It's good to advise the young man to go to a teaching hospital for delivery cos they have pediatric & blood bank services which may not be provided in the said private hospital but to say you have zero confidence in private hospitals, it's demeaning to say the least.

Even in the so called saner climes everyone wants to go to, you don't refer normal pregnancies to secondary or tertiary centers. They are usually taken care of at primary care centers.

The fact that our teaching hospitals provide primary care in addition to secondary & tertiary doesn't make it a standard.

A patient having malaria shouldn't be seen in a teaching hospital.

Poster i am on the same table with your wife, please let her register in a general or teaching hospital, twin pregnancy is a high risk pregnancy and needs hospital with good neonatal care unit just incase they come earlier.

If the twins are sharing the same placenta and sac they are likely to come between 34-36 weeks, if they have separate placenta and sac its between 36-37 weeks, twins do not get to 40 weeks.

As for me i am going for elective, my doctor mentioned it as early as at 12 weeks and i gladly accepted. Reason is that one of the babies is breech while the other is cephalic, it could lead to complications during labour.

There's a very high chance you'll be going for that first scan hoping they'll confirm it's a double gestation.

Breech at term & or in labor is an indication(absolute) for c/s. Not a breech remote from term. Your baby can turn before term. So in that case, if there's no contraindication for vaginal delivery why shouldn't you be allowed to labor?

Welcome to the Daddy twins club in advance, my wife birth our twins through C.S too. Just make sure you are using a very good hospital, i would recommend Maternal and Child Center in your Local Govt of Residence if you reside in Lagos. She will deliver safely and soundly by the special Grace of God...

Funny how kept hammering on how the women of today are not has strong as our mothers, do you know how many of this "our Mothers" lost their lives in the process of giving birth? Many because of Obstructed labour, Cephalopelvic disproportion, Uterine tear and the likes, just because they want to prove a point of being a complete woman. You're taking advice from people who feels a woman having C-Section is lazy and less of a woman, her Obstetrician knows the best way for her to deliver those babies, please leave that to the discretion of her physician, and I'll also advice you take your wife to a Federal hospital (Teaching hospital or Medical Centre), the cost of treatment are way cheaper that Private hospitals and you get the advantage of having specialist in the case of Obstetrians and Trained Midwives that'll attend to her, Private hospitals are only after their money, even if you wife can deliver par vagina, they'll tell you CS because of the money they intend to make from you.

By the way, Congratulations in advance to your family, may God keep them and provide everything you'll need to take care of them.

Its my preference, even if both are cephalic i will still opt for cs, two babies with two different placenta is not what i will risk, not after all the stress they will say placenta refused to come out, twin birth is very complicated

What do you mean by this?

I hope you're not implying a C-section is easier than a vaginal delivery?

A vaginal delivery heals in some days to weeks, but a C-section heals in over a month!
That's exactly what I mean. I was told it's less painful and safer albeit more expensive. My fear is due to the size and it's her first time.

Madam, try and type with sense.

What concerns laziness with birthing a baby? So, you think other women who birth children via C-section are lazy or what are you even saying? If you don't know, know this now, CS or vaginal delivery are both okay to birth a baby. Do you even understand the healing process that comes with CS?

I could like this comment a thousand times.

This stigma associated with CS has actually caused the death of some women while trying to put to birth via the vagina.

The strength of a woman shouldn't be attached to her ability to give birth naturally or not.
Funny thing is the pains from CS heals slower.

Vaginal birth or CS, the most important thing is a healthy mother and baby at the end of the day.

The discrimination for birthing through CS is common even among modern women.
A colleague gave birth in November last year and a fellow colleague (mother of 3) said she'll put a call to her to ask if it's a VD or CS and that she hope it's a VD.
The person in question, when I visited, she narrated that she gave birth through VD..... as I got home, the lady told me that she lied as her MIL was there and told her not to tell people it was CS. I just weak.

Madam, CS isn't for lazy people, my friend was 7CM for over 12 hours and the water broke very early. She had to go under the knife to save herself and the baby and the baby's head suffered for it.
I was lucky to have dilated successfully and baby crowning of which my mum told me if they say CS go for it without delay.
