PoliticsMelaye Denies Booing Buhari At Budget Presentation by 6Ebisco(op): 7:40am On Jan 06, 2019
Senator Dino Melaye has denied being part of the lawmakers that booed President Muhammadu Buhari during the 2019 budget presentation before a joint session of the National Assembly on December 19, 2018.

Melaye, who represents Kogi West Senatorial District on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said he was absent at the House of Representatives chamber, venue of the budget presentation on that day, let alone partake in jeering the president.

Recall that some lawmakers, mainly of the opposition PDP, jeered the president during the budget presentation. But they were countered by their All Progressives Congress (APC) counterparts, who cheered the president.

Apparently disturbed by the development, Buhari had to pause to caution the lawmakers, saying “May I remind Honourable members that the world is watching us, and we should be above this.”

Since the incident, there have been reports in the social media that the booing was led by the Kogi senator.

But Melaye, in his first reaction to the social media reports, said in a statement by his media aide, Gideon Ayodele, on Saturday evening that those that kept calling his name on the incident lied against him.

Our correspondent reports that Melaye’s denial came 24 hours after he surrendered himself to the police following one week siege on his Maitama residence over an alleged case of culpable homicide, an allegation he denied.‎

“The attention of Senator Dino Melaye has been drawn to a malicious reference to his person on the social media as one of the lawmakers who booed President Muhammadu Buhari during his 2019 Budget presentation before a joint session of the National Assembly on Wednesday, December 19, 2018.

“Before now, he had refused to refute the mischievious social media fabrication for what it is – a cheap lie – Senator Dino Melaye was not in the National Assembly that day.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Distinguished Senator Dino Melaye was absent at the televised 2019 Budget Presentation session and hereby challenges anyone with contrary proof to come forward with such.

“By his nature, Distinguished Senator Dino Melaye is not one who speaks and cannot defend his action at the same time. Whatever he says or does, he stands by his actions no matter whose ox is gored,” ‎he said.

Politics2019: Tinubu Said Nothing When Hausa/fulani Killed Yoruba People, He’s A Betraye by 6Ebisco(op): 1:17pm On Jan 05, 2019
A leading chieftain of the Yoruba apex social-political organization, Afenifere, Senator Femi Okurounmu has revealed how National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, and factional leader of Afenifere, Ayo Fasanmi have been betraying Yoruba people.

Okurounmu said that when herdsmen were on rampage in Yorubaland maiming and killing innocent farmers on their farms, nobody heard Tinubu and Ayo Fasanmi utter a word.

The former lawmaker maintained that Afenifere is not polarized but still much intact.

According to him, “There is only one Afenifere, and that authentic Afenifere is the one being led by Chief Reuben Fasoranti to which Chief Adebanjo, my humble self and other progressive elements and eminent Yoruba belong to.

“This Afenifere group is the one that genuinely serve the interests of Yoruba people.”

Okurounmu, who spoke in an interview with Sun, insisted that “The group being led by Ayo Fasanmi is a renegade group. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former governor of Lagos State created this group and Fasanmi and other few rebellious elements that belong to this group are Tinubu’s puppets.

“Tinubu is their political master and leader, and they are always serving Tinubu’s interests and not Yoruba interests.

“You can only hear Ayo Fasanmi, a 94-year -old man speaking out only when Tinubu’s interest is involved.

“You will never see Ayo Fasanmi utter a single word when Yoruba interests are involved.

“How many Nigerians even know Ayo Fasanmi. Does his name even ring a bell like that of Fasoranti and Pa Ayo Adebanjo?

“On several occasions in the past and even in recent time where Yoruba’s interests are threatened or where Yoruba are being persecuted, it is only the authentic Afenifere under Pa Reuben Fasoranti that has been speaking out defending Yoruba interests.

“Few instances will suffice here. About two years ago when some Hausa and Fulani were killing Yoruba people in Ile-Ife, was it not Afenifere led by Fasoranti that spoke out and defended Yoruba interests?

“Another instance of Tinubu and Ayo FAsanmi’s betrayal of Yoruba people was when herdsmen were on rampage in Yorubaland maiming and killing innocent farmers on their farms.

“Did anybody hear Tinubu and his puppet Ayo Fasanmi talking? No, they kept quiet because Fulani herdsmen involved in killing Yoruba farmers were kinsmen of Buhari, an ally of Tinubu.

“Rather than speaking out against this evil for posterity sake, 94 year old Ayo Fasanmi kept quiet because he wanted to please Tinubu.

“Fasanmi at his age when he should speak out the truth kept quiet. He didn’t want to offend Tinubu the man who is sponsoring him and his group.

“Even when Chief Olu Falae was kidnapped on his farm by these Fulani herdsmen, Tinubu and Pa Ayo Fasanmi didn’t utter a word of condemnation because President Buhari, his friend’s kinsmen were involved.

“How then would any rational person refer to Fasanmi and Tinubu as genuine Yoruba leaders? Ayo Fasanmi is an impostor. Since 2003, he and some renegade members of Afenifere have pulled out of the organization at Tinubu’s prompting and since then Tinubu has been using Ayo Fasanmi as a willing political tool to serve his personal interests.

“Afenifere as a group has come a long way starting from the days of late Chief Obafemi Awolowo in the 40s. The group under Awolowo first started as Egbe Omo Oduduwa before it became Afenifere later, still under the leadership of Chief Awolowo.

“But after Awolowo’s death, other prominent and eminent Yoruba that have led the group include late Chief Adekunle Ajasin and late Pa Abraham Adesanya. It was after Adesanya’s death that Pa Reuben Fasoranti emerged as Afenifere leader, and he still remains the bona fide and authentic Afenifere leader.

“Nigerians should disregard Ayo Fasanmi. Fasanmi is Tinubu’s creation and puppet. Tinubu uses him for his personal and political interests.”

PoliticsBuhari Approves N161bn For Nigerian Tertiary Institutions by 6Ebisco(op): 3:41am On Jan 05, 2019
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved N161 billion for the 2019 Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Intervention activities in Nigerian universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.

The Executive Secretary, TETFund, Dr Abdullahi Baffa, made the disclosure in Abuja on Friday at a news conference with journalists.

Baffa explained that the approval of TETFund 2018 Intervention Guidelines of N161 billion represented the education tax collection for 2017, which was a boost to the higher education institutions in the country.

Baffa explained that each public university would get an allocation of N785,832,700, while each polytechnic would be given N536,703,502 from the N161 billion.

He also noted that each college of education would get N510,084,900 of the amount.

‘‘The approval of the 2018 Intervention by President Muhammadu Buhari in December 2018 heralds the commencement of the 2019 TETFund Intervention activities.

‘‘The approved N161 billion has been allocated to eligible institutions for 2019 Intervention activities in accordance with the provisions of the TETFund Act 2011.

‘‘Consequently, each public university will get an allocation of N785,832,700; each public polytechnic N536,703,502; and each college of education will get an allocation of N510,084,900 respectively,’’ he said.

Baffa added that detailed breakdown of the allocations would be released after the fund would have communicated the allocation letters to the institutions.

He, therefore, called on all institutions that are entitled to come to the Fund’s head office to collect their allocation letters from Monday, Jan. 7.

The executive secretary further said the fund would focus on providing essential physical infrastructure for teaching and learning, providing support research and publication and instructional materials and equipment.

He said other area of focus was funding to support academic staff training and development, as well as funding to support the maintenance of educational standards in the institutions.

‘‘In 2018, the fund fully implemented the 2017 Revised Guidelines for accessing Intervention funds by beneficiary institutions to ease the processes of submission and approval of projects proposals for the various Intervention lines of the fund.

‘‘This contributed significantly to beneficiary institutions delivering their 2017 Intervention projects within the specified project cycles.

‘‘The internal controls introduced by the fund in 2017 resulted to high level of compliance with the guidelines for accessing funds by beneficiary institutions throughout 2018,’’ he stressed.

Baffa added that as at November 2018, the total education tax collection stood at N200, 793,193,208.54, which showed an increase of 25.47 per cent over the previous year’s collection of N154.9billion.

PoliticsNew Year Prophecy: Pastor Adegboye Snubs Atiku, Reveals Who’ll Takeover From Buh by 6Ebisco(op): 9:16am On Jan 04, 2019
The Senior Pastor of Worksword of God Church, Gabriel O. Adegboye, has released his prophecies for the New Year.

Adegboye, who is also the Convener of Save Nigeria 2019 Movement and a former presidential aspirant, said there is no hope for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, winning the 2019 election.

In a list of prophecies he forwarded to DAILY POST on Friday, he also stated that President Buhari will not hand over power easily if he loses.

Here are his 2019 prophecies:

1. NIGERIA AND POLITICS

The PDP Presidential Candidate has to seek for God’s help now because there is no headway for his presidential ambition.

It does not matter who wins the presidential election, President Buhari will not hand over willingly.

The coming general elections and the outcome is not peaceful at all.

I see President Buhari being forced out of Aso Rock Villa by a superior power for his refusal to do the needful. Violence erupts and things go out of hands, so be careful.

God has ordained a particular man of God to be appointed to pilot the affairs of this great nation with supernatural wisdom to restore normalcy in the land.

The next president of Nigeria is not among the candidates seeking elections into the office of the President, which makes it difficult for the presidential elections results to be widely acceptable.

2. BOKO HARAM AND GENERAL INSECURITY

God gave me secrets to stop the operations of Boko Haram with the support of Nigeria Armed Forces.

For years I have been saying the same thing. I have answer to the insurgents.
God said to me there is no way Boko Haram can be conquered without Him.

All my yearly declarations since 2011 are the same on security. Imagine how many lives and property Nigeria has lost to insurgents.

Military personnel and sophisticated war equipment got lost and wasted over the years. It is the Lord’s battle and nobody not even foreign military support can eliminate Boko Haram without God’s involvement.

This year is a year determined by God to take over Nigeria and very shortly
power will change hands in this country.

The claim of Nnamdi Kanu that President Buhari died on the 17th of January 2017 was not true. President Buhari did not die. God did not say so. On the 20th February 2017, God told me that on the 8th of May 2017, President Buhari would travel and probably may not return again, but with the prayer of all lovers of the President, God tampered justice with mercy. I can authoritatively declare that there is President Buhari in Aso Rock Villa.

“God does not run by propaganda and He does not support secession in this country. I encourage Nnamdi Kanu to
stop dividing what God has joined together. I declare indivisibility of Nigeria now and always.

Nigeria is not a zoological garden and Nigerians are not Gorillas (animals) as
Nnamdi Kanu portrayed it. Nigeria is God’s own country and this will be proved this year. It does not matter who support Nnamdi Kanu, his agenda is anti-God and cannot see the light of the day.

I appeal to President Buhari, not to do what will provoke Nigerians and the
military into staging revolution in this country.

Finally, all I see is that Nigerians have failed themselves, especially the political
elites, so God is taking a very drastic decision this year to save this nation from revolution and unending crises.

MY APPEAL
1. To all advisers of President Buhari; Allow him to take unilateral decision in the interest of this nation, so that he can end well.

2. I appeal to His Excellency, President Buhari to bow to the wish of the people
honourably and not allow certain people mislead Him.

3. Mr. President has built enough trust and confidence of all Nigerians over the
years, nobody should come and destroy this legacy of his Excellency through
selfish counsels.

Most of the people that will not let President Buhari do the right thing were not with him in 2003, 2007, and 2011 when he went through thin and tank to become who God has made him today.

So, nobody should make him offend the God that has been faithful to him throughout all his numerous challenges, God bless Nigeria.

Politics2019 Presidency: What Fani-kayode Said As INEC Names Buhari’s Niece, Amina Zakar by 6Ebisco(op): 10:08pm On Jan 03, 2019
Femi Fani-Kayode, the former Minister of Aviation has reacted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, appointment of President Muhammadu Buhari’s niece, Amina Zakari as its head of Collation Center for the 2019 elections.

DAILY POST had reported that by her new appointment, Zakari, who was once the Commission’s Director of Operations, will be responsible for announcing the result of the presidential election.

Reacting Fani-Kayode wondered if the 2019 general election would be free and fair.

He tweeted, “Amina Zakari,Buhari’s neice and a member of his staff when he was Chairman of PTF has been appointed Chairperson of the INEC Advisory Committee & Pres. Election Collation Center Committee.

“Do you still believe that there will be a free and fair election in Nigeria on Feb. 16th?”

Crime60-year-old Man Nabbed With Over 12 Female Underwears, Used Sanitary Pads In Ond by 6Ebisco(op): 3:16pm On Jan 03, 2019
A 60-year-old man, suspected to be a ritualist, has been apprehended for allegedly stealing female pants, bra as well as already used sanitary pads in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The suspect, whose real name has not been identified as at press time, was caught by some commercial motorcyclists commonly referred to as”okada riders” at Danjuma area along Isikan road of the state capital following his suspicious movement within the neighborhood.

After being caught, he was handed over to the men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, by residents of the area who had earlier beat him blue and black.

While giving a vivid account of the incident which threw the neighbourhood into pandemonium, one of the residents who gave her name as Adeola Oluwasegun, said the suspect was initially mistaken for a lunatic before he was exposed by “okada riders” who she guess have been trailing him from a distance.

She narrated that, “We first saw the old man roaming the streets like a mentally unstable man while holding a small bag and we were thinking he was begging for food or money.

“Later, we noticed some Okada men shouting thief from afar and we did not know they were after the old man who they called ritualists.

“By the time, they would dragged the bag from him, he was caught with dirty female underwares lilke bra, pants, cloth and sanitary pads.

“Many residents were angry and they gave him the serious beating of his life. In fact, they nearly lyched him to death before he was whiskey away by some elderly people.”

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer, Ondo State Command of the NSCDC, Oladipo Samuel, disclosed that the suspect is already in the corps’ custody, adding that investigation has commenced.

“Truely, he was handed over to our men yesterday and he is helping our team of investigators in the office with very useful information.

PoliticsDino Melaye: Buhari’s Supporters Tell Senator How To End Police Siege On His Hom by 6Ebisco(op): 6:41pm On Jan 02, 2019
Members of Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) have advised the Senator representing Kogi West senatorial district, Dino Melaye, to end the police siege on his home by turning himself in to the operatives.

BMO, in a statement by its Chairman, Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary, Cassidy Madueke, on Wednesday, said this would be the best way to end a siege that is capable of sending wrong signals about the Nigerian political elite to the local and international observers.

There has been a police blockade of Senator Melaye’s Maitama-Abuja home by operatives out to effect a warrant of arrest for what the police spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, says it is a case of “Criminal Conspiracy and Attempted Culpable Homicide” against the federal lawmaker.

The statement reads: “For starters, as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dino Melaye swore to an oath to uphold the laws of the land, but for more than five months, he has failed to honour an invitation over the alleged shooting of an on-duty Police officer Sergeant Danjuma Saliu by some armed men in his convoy on July 19 2018 in Kogi State.

“This is inspite of pledging on national television few days after the incident that he would show up at the state police command to show that their account was ‘false and illogical’.

“In that interview, the Senator insisted that the police account was wrong and infact accused the police of shooting at his convoy of 20 vehicles on his way to a scheduled event.”

BMO is concerned that rather than allow the law to take its course, the Senator is resorting to pontificating.

“It is sad that at a time that Nigerians expect Senator Melaye to show a good example, he has opted to play up religious sentiment by quoting a passage in the Holy Bible that has nothing to do with the situation at hand.

“The issue at stake is the near-fatal shooting of a Police operative by men who were said to be in his convoy, so there is enough reason for him to clear his name as a federal lawmaker.”

The group wondered why the Senator failed to honour the police invitation to at least clear his name even when he had between July and December been involved in legislative duties and other activities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

“There was ample time for the Senator to clear his name especially after the Police sent a formal letter of invitation to the Clerk of the National Assembly dated July 23 and which was duly acknowledged and is now in the public domain as proof that due process was followed.

“Infact three months later, the Senator joined some leaders of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to stage a protest at the Force Headquarters.

“Pictures from the protest showed Senator Melaye, shirt unbuttoned, in a virtual confrontation with mobile police men right in front of the national police headquarters in what could be interpreted as a subtle message to the Kogi Police command.

“The other subliminal message is that members of the political elite can get away with what an average Nigerian dares not do,” it said.

BMO also hailed the police for their patience, professionalism and maturity in handling a situation that could have been tagged as a clamp down on government critic.

The group added that “It is instructive that it took the police several months to make a serious attempt to arrest the Senator, and even at that, they ensured they had a valid warrant of arrest before making a move.

“Now these operatives have in the last few days been obstructed from performing their duties under the guise that the Senator is not in his Abuja residence while the PDP and its leaders are using the opportunity to play to the gallery by seeking to ridicule one of the nation’s critical institutions.

“It would be imperative for the Senator to hand himself in for investigation and for PDP elements to allow the Police to do their job inspite of Dino Melaye’s profile in the opposition ranks.”

Politics2019 Presidency: Emulate Goodluck Jonathan, Concede Defeat If You Lose – Atiku T by 6Ebisco(op): 5:48am On Jan 02, 2019
Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to emulate his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan, who, in 2015, walked the talk of ‘political ambition not worth the blood of any Nigerian’ when he conceded defeat in the last presidential election.

Atiku, an ex-Vice President, gave the advice on Tuesday in a statement issued by his media Adviser, Paul Ibe, in Abuja.

His counsel came as a reaction to President Buhari’s New Year message in which he said the 2019 election should not be a do-or-die affair.

Atiku said the President will be judged by his actions, not rhetoric.

While urging the incumbent president to lead by example, Atiku said: “It is not enough to preach peace when he (Buhari) cannot publicly condemn the violent behaviour of his supporters who harass, molest and publicly humiliate his opponents and their supporters.

“It is not enough for the President to condemn do-or-die politics if he cannot control the activities of overzealous aides, including the country’s security chiefs, especially the Inspector General of Police whose activities lately gives him away as a partisan player in negation of his constitutional role.

“Go beyond lip service and urge security chiefs to be politically neutral during the election. Their loyalty to the constitution doesn’t include putting themselves at the service of the ruling party at the expense of free and fair elections.

“Jonathan lived by his noble words and statesmanship when he conceded defeat without hesitation, thereby contributing to peaceful conduct of election.”

Politics2019: Goodluck Jonathan’s Message To Nigerians by 6Ebisco(op): 8:46am On Jan 01, 2019
Former president, Goodluck Jonathan has urged Nigerians to use 2019 as a new opportunity to elect better leaders.

Jonathan said this in his new year message posted on his official Facebook page.

He further urged Nigerians to hope for a better Nigeria and embrace unity in the new year.

The message read: “I do not intend to give a long message this New Year. All I just want to say is that there is hope and a future for Nigeria. We do not just have a New Year, we have a New Opportunity.

“A New Opportunity to be better leaders and better followers. To be better citizens who join hands with our fellow Nigerians, irrespective of region and religion, to bring Nigeria ever closer to the dreams of our Founding Fathers.

“2019 brings with it its own challenges, but if one sentence should summarise our collective national attitude to those challenges, that sentence is this-Nigeria will survive and thrive, by God’s grace and our collective fidelity to the Nigerian Dream.

“On behalf of my family and the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation, I wish you and your family a Happy New Year. 2019 is the year of better things for Nigeria. GEJ.”

PoliticsAkwa Ibom Speaker States Position On Gov. Emmanuel’s Re-election Bid by 6Ebisco(op): 12:14pm On Dec 31, 2018
Mr Onofiok Luke, the Speaker, Akwa Ibom House of Assembly says Gov. Udom Emmanuel needs another four years in office to complete the urbanisation of Eket town.

Luke stated this while interacting with youths and women in Eket Senatorial District at Qua Iboe Primary School in Usung Inyang on Sunday.

He pledged support for the re-election bid of the state governor, explaining that it would enable him complete ongoing projects.

The speaker explained that the bulk of money that accrued to Akwa Ibom was from the Eket Senatorial District.

He alleged that there was a game plan for the Eket district not to be developed by the opposition in the state.

“If past governors of the state, from Uyo and Ikot Ekpene senatorial districts governed for eight years respectively, how much more a governor from the producers of wealth in the state.

“We also want Gov. Emmanuel of Eket senatorial district to also serve for eight years,” he said.

Luke urged the people of Akwa Ibom to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to enable them vote for all the PDP candidates in the state.

Also speaking, Mr Monday Uko, the State Commissioner for Youths and Sport said that the youth of Eket were grassroots mobilisers who would vote massively for the re-election of the governor.

“Please let us stand with Gov. Emmanuel so that he can succeed in office for a second term,” Uko said.

Politics2019 Presidency: Atiku Fires Back, Reveals How Buhari Smuggled 53 Briefcases Of by 6Ebisco(op): 8:39am On Dec 31, 2018
The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has revealed how he (Atiku) prevented President Muhammadu Buhari from smuggling looted funds into the country in 1984.

Atiku stated this in reaction to an earlier statement credited to Buhari Support Groups, BSG, accusing the former Vice President of plotting to ferry looted funds into the country ahead of the 2019 elections.

Atiku, in a statement issued by his Senior Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, noted that the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, had eight years ago, accused Buhari of smuggling 53 briefcases of looted funds into the country.

Atiku advised Buhari to take a trip down memory lane before making allegations they could not substantiate.

The statement added, “Our attention has been drawn to a statement by President Muhammadu Buhari accusing the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Atiku Abubakar of planning to smuggle in looted funds into the country just before the February 2019 elections.

“This new accusation, like their previous allegations, is another infantile outburst that tells more about the accuser than Atiku Abubakar.

“For the avoidance of doubt, history shows that rather than smuggle in looted cash, Waziri Atiku Abubakar has a record of preventing looted funds from being smuggled into Nigeria.

“In 1984, it was Atiku Abubakar, as head of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Command of the Nigerian Customs and Excise Department, that stopped the ADC of the then Military Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari, from smuggling in 53 suitcases of looted money into the country.

“Young Nigerians and Millennials who may not be aware of this incident, will do well to Google it. Only the guilty are afraid. It is President Muhammadu Buhari who has a history of smuggling in looted funds and not Waziri Atiku Abubakar.

“In fact, Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna state governor), a favourite of the President and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, said as follows on October 4, 2010: ‘In 1984, Buhari allowed 53 suitcases belonging to his ADC’s father to enter Nigeria unchecked at a time the country was exchanging old currency for new.’

“Only recently, Mr. Abubakar’s plane was searched, his accounts have been perused and his businesses have been thoroughly investigated with a fine tooth and nothing remotely corrupt or illegal has been found.

“In desperation, the Buhari administration released this statement to cover their shame on a day that the US based International Strategic Studies Association reported that it is the unprecedented corruption around President Buhari that has led to the recent setbacks in the war on terrorism in the Northeast and the heavy loss of lives amongst the military rank and file. May God save Nigeria from a government that values money over lives.

“We therefore urge Nigerians to note that it is Muhammadu Buhari who has a history and a record of smuggling in looted funds and it is Waziri Atiku Abubakar who has a history of preventing such from happening.

“And while they are at it, we urge them to tell Nigerians those behind Etisalat, now 9Mobile and Keystone Bank, now Polaris and how they suddenly possessed such wealth overnight.”

PoliticsOmokri Unveils Strong Member Of Cabal Allegedly Controlling Buhari Govt [PHOTO] by 6Ebisco(op): 6:15pm On Dec 30, 2018

Funtua, who is the Chairman of Bulet International Construction Company, is reportedly said to be a close friend of President Buhari, and his ears on national issues, including appointments.

He tweeted: “This is the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. He is bowing down to receive instructions from Samaila Isa Funtua, a member of the cabal controlling ⁦Buhari⁩.

“If you thought ⁦Aisha Buhari⁩ lied, I hope this photo convinces you.”

PoliticsDon’t Be Deceived, APC Won’t Hand Over To You, Obasanjo Tells Igbo Leaders by 6Ebisco(op): 6:08am On Dec 30, 2018
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo saturday asked the Igbo leaders across the federation to remain focused and united, saying the All Progressives Congress (APC) would not honour its promise to hand over presidency to an Igbo indigene in 2023.

Consequently, Obasanjo urged the Igbo not to allow any person from any part of the country relegate them to the background, noting that the Igbo occupied a place of preeminence in the emergence of Nigeria.

He gave the warning at a stakeholders meeting held at the residence of former Minister of Aviation, Chief Mbazuluke Amechi in Ukpor Nnewi South Local Government Area, Anambra State yesterday.

At the meeting, Obasanjo urged the Igbo to bury all their differences and work together for the actualisation of the Atiku Abubakar/Peter Obi candidature, which he said, was in the best interest of Nigeria and Nigerians.

He, particularly, urged Atiku’s running mate “to reach out to Mbazuluke Amechi and other eminent personalities in Igbo land to drum support for his candidature.”

Obasanjo equally, said the Igbo should be weary of the promise of the APC government to hand over power to them in 2023, noting that it was dangerous to take the APC government seriously

He, therefore, prayed for a successful outing for Atiku and Obi in the 2019 presidential election, tasking them to do the right thing for Nigeria and Nigerians if eventually elected.

Obasanjo urged the Igbo not to allow anybody relegate them to the background as they occupy a place of preeminence in the emergence of the nation.

He observed that Obi and his principal “have great work to do for Nigeria,” noting that they “have become a beacon of hope to all Nigerians who have had it so rough in the last four years.

“It is incumbent on Obi to think out of the box to take the nation out of the woods caused by incumbent clueless administrators. With Obi’s pedigree as a governor, he was hopeful that things will work for Nigeria under his leadership as vice president of the country.

In his address, Amechi described Obi as good man and his principal the country needed at a time like this.

Among others, the meeting was attended by Obi, former Minister of Power, Chief Barth Nnaji, former Minister of Health, Prof. ABC Nwosu, former Imo State Governor, Mr. Ikedi Ohakim, member of National Assembly, Hon. Chris Azubogu and Chairman, Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company, Chief Innocent Chukwuma.

At a session with journalists after the meetings, the vice president candidate of the PDP assured Nigerians that his principal Abubakar Atiku and himself would not let the nation down.

Obasanjo, Obi and dignitaries later went to unveil the statue of the former aviation minister built by the Ukpor community in honor of Dara Amaechi.

PoliticsBuhari Under Fire For Mourning Shehu Shagari by 6Ebisco(op): 3:49pm On Dec 29, 2018
The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari for mourning Alhaji Shehu Shagari, the first Executive President of Nigeria.

Shagari, 93, died on Friday at the National Hospital after a brief illness.

Imo Ugochinyere, CUPP spokesman, in a statement on Saturday, said Buhari was one of the officers who dethroned the Shagari government in 1983 and should save his condolences.

He said: “We commiserate with the Shagari family, the Sokoto State Government and indeed all Nigerians on such a huge loss of a nationalist and elder statesman per excellence particularly at these very challenging times. We also pray God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

“President Shagari was a democrat who believed in the supremacy of the power of the people and only succumbed to the barrel of the gun of people who did not and still do not believe in the tenets of democracy and the supremacy of the rule of law.

“We however urge President Muhammadu Buhari to keep his tributes in honour of Alhaji Shehu Shagari.

“The Grand Alliance leadership has directed all the over 50 parties in the opposition coalition to fly their party flags at half mast as mark of respect to this great hero.

“Nigeria shall overcome this loss by the special grace of God and democracy will once again not fail in our time.”

PoliticsFayemi Declares State Of Emergency by 6Ebisco(op): 7:54am On Dec 28, 2018
Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State on Thursday declared emergency in the water sector to ensure water supply to all nooks and crannies of the state.

He made the declaration in Ikun Ekiti, Moba Local Government Area of the state where he had gone to kick-start the turn around water rehabilitation project at Ero Dam to supply water to many major towns in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor consequently promised to take legal and institutional steps to also make the state open defecation free before 2030.

He said it was in a bid to reduce the level of water borne diseases in Ekiti and make the commodity available to residents that he declared the emergency in water sector.

According to him, the people must be saved from preventable Illnesses through provision of potable water.

He clarified that the emergency was in line with the step taken by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari had initiated similar policy under a programme called Water Supply Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in partnership with the world bank.

NAN reports that the project, which will gulp 55 million dollars, was awarded to Sagittarius Henan Engineering and is to be completed within 18 months.

The governor said the WASH programme of the Federal Government and world bank was initiated to reduce amount being paid by Nigerians on hospital bills after contacting all forms of diseases from unhygienic water sources.

Fayemi said statistics had shown that water supply to urban cities and rural areas in the country had reduced by 15 and four per cent respectively, in spite of geometric increase in the population.

The governor added that the state had already paid N700 million counterpart fund to complete the project that was approved by the world bank in 2014.

“It was because of the safety of the citizens that the Federal Government declared emergency in WASH. So, Ekiti has keyed into the programme with this project.

“Ekiti was ranked second in Nigeria as a state that practised open defecation . We shall put up institutional and legal frameworks to ensure Ekiti is open defecation free before 2030

“Part of what accounted for this high practice was because of low water supply to our homes

“We are making our traditional rulers as champions that would canvass for open defecation-free and if we are going to stop our palaces from digging boreholes here and there, we as government should provide water to our people

“We have done our feasibility studies, 85 per cent of our water in Ekiti shall be provided by Ero and Egbe dams if they operate at optimal capacity,” he said.

The governor assured that affordable tariff would be charged by government and that such would be metred to prevent extortion.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Utilities, Mr Olumide Ajayi, said rehabilitation on Egbe dam located in Gbonyin Local Government was also being co-financed by European Union and Ekiti State.

Ajayi said the two projects would supply water to over 66 towns across nine local government areas in the state.

He urged the beneficiaries to be ready to pay affordable tariffs and maintain the facilities when completed.

The General manager , Ekiti State Water Corporation, Mr Olabisi Agbeyo, revealed that this was the first time major rehabilitation would be carried out on Ero dam in 33 years.

“As we speak, Ekiti is not owing a kobo as counterpart payment; we have paid up and this shows how committed the state was in water supply”, Agbeyo said.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has called for the investigation of President Muhammadu Buhari’s family’s alleged ownership of shares in the Etisalat Nigeria and Keystone Bank.

The former Vice President made the call in a statement yesterday by his Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu.

Atiku said that “Such a probe was necessary in view of reports that members of President Muhammadu Buhari’s family now own substantial share in Etisalat Nigeria which has an estimated $2bn of its estimated $20bn global net worth.”

The PDP presidebtial candidate said he was shocked by “reports from unimpeachable sources that the first family now plays big in the nation’s financial sector after acquiring mouth-watering shares in Keystone Bank with total assets of $1.916bn as well as purchasing about ₦3bn worth of shares in the new Pakistani Islamic Bank.

“I know that last week was turbulent for President Buhari and I apologize for adding to his woes, but he is insisting on the myth that he is spotless and anti-corrupt.

“If this is found to be true, this scandal would break every rule of corporate and public governance, since this will be the first time members of the first family will be openly involved in a once-in-a-lifetime deal that would make them all richer beyond their wildest dreams.”

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has told the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, that the state was not the same as Lagos State.

Wike said that no one man can dictate what happens in Rivers.

He said this while declaring that no amount of blackmail and propaganda will alter the termination of sale of valued state assets to Sahara Energy Limited, a company belonging to the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the state, Tonye Dele Cole.

“No amount of blackmail will change the situation. The courts are there for them to seek redress.

“Rivers and Lagos States are not the same. No single man can dictate what happens in Rivers State. We have different ethnic groups and culture”, he said.

According to Wike, the termination of sale of valued state assets to Sahara Energy followed due process.

The Governor called on those aggrieved to seek redress in court.

He spoke on Boxing Day during the 2018 Ogbakor Etche December Convention at Obiri Etche, Umugwu, Okehi.

Wike added, “The Rivers State Government was not vindictive in terminating the sale of valued state assets to Sahara Energy Limited. One company used three subsidiaries to illegally acquire state assets.

“If there was any vindictiveness, it was on the part of those who used the State Government to deny Rivers people their valued state assets.

The governor said that the Rivers State Government resolved to implement the White Paper on the recommendations of the Justice Omereji Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate the sale of valued state assets because there is no stay of execution stopping the administration.

He said that the godfather of Cole and Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, lost at the High Court and Court of Appeal when he tried to stop the implementation of the recommendations of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry.

Governor Wike said the Minister of Transportation and his business partner illegally bought over State assets with a plot to install Tonye Cole for the purchase of more state assets.

“Rivers people have come to know that only one person bought all their assets. He came and took what belongs to the entire state. Now they want to acquire more,” he added.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)EPL: Emery Not Interested In Ozil’s Salary, Warns German Midfielder by 6Ebisco(op): 10:50am On Dec 22, 2018
Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, has said Mesut Ozil’s salary will not influence his decision to play the German or not.

Emery made the eyebrow-raising decision on the highest-paid player at The Emirates, as he was out of his squad for “tactical reasons” in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup game against Tottenham.

While Ozil will be back in the team for Saturday’s Premier League game against Burnley, Emery made it clear that he won’t give the German any special treatment just because the club is paying him more than £300,000 a week.

“The player’s salary is not important for me. I don’t know the players’ salary because for me they are the same. Every player, I want to give them the same conversation or the same decision for [whether they] play or don’t play.

“And then when I decide they are not going to play because of a tactical decision, it’s [the same] with him and another. If you are asking this is different because one is with more salary and the other is less salary, for me it’s the same.

“The most important thing for me is to be OK training every day with good behaviour and good commitment,” Emery said.

Jose Mourinho is unlikely to be out of work for very long, after being sacked by Manchester United, with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, reportedly keen to bring him back to the Bernabeu.

Mourinho was fired at Old Trafford on Tuesday morning, after overseeing United’s worst start to a Premier League season in 28 years.

However, his stock remains high in Europe and according to Spanish newspaper, El Pais, he is already being lined up to lead a rebuild of Real Madrid.

It is claimed that he was infact offered a return this season twice.

Madrid have endured a difficult campaign themselves, with Julen Lopetegui replaced by Santiago Solari and they still sit fourth in the LaLiga table.
