I moved to Lagos from Abuja recently, and have been struggling to adapt for several reasons.

1. Food costs a bit more in Lagos than in Abuja.

2. A-20 minute distance by foot costs at least #150-200 here, unlike in Abuja where it's at mostly #100.

3. Water(drinkable water) in Abuja was almost free, and very salubrious. Here at the island, you buy sachet water (pure water) which is the only affordable water that boasts of some minimal degree of purity.

I was shocked when I ordered for Akara of 250 and got those nearly invisible 5-balls. I nearly refused it, if not for the beautiful girl that was leering at me.

How much is the 2 cups now? Then you grind or even if he uses mortal to pound it, what about pepper, Maggie, salt, stove and kerosine and finally groundnut oil. Can 250 buy all that?

Mega Chicken at Ikota sold a single piece for 250...

And that was as at 2019.

Right now, that piece may be 500.

Nothing is stressful there, just admit you can't cook.

Homemade akara is the best, atleast I am sure of what am eating unlike these ones you buy containing unknown mixtures.

Thats 5 akara which is actually cheap to be sold for N50 each on the Island ooo...

Lagos isn't for the faint hearted, if you're not careful, as you're making money, recurrent expenditure will swallow everything and you may not have anything to save... grin

The price of Groundnut oil has gone up the roof. But notwithstanding, the akara you bought is very expensive.

In Port Harcourt that Akara should probably be N100.
