Useless politicians, nothing is working in our universities, they have become glorified secondary schools due to lack of funds. Yet this man is talking nonsense. Politicians have blotted allowances, one of the highest paid in the word, yet the education sector is grounded. Some Nigerians who are not even familiar with the demands of the varsity unions will ignorantly be faulting the unions emotionally. I blame the docile students who cannot hold the government responsible for this shameful display 2 Likes |

Honestly, ASUU members are just holding Nigerians and mostly Nigeria students to ransom, in this cause of their so called strike, most of them are doing another thing fetching them money in another way, while the students they suppose to build their future are roaming around all over Nigeria. FG should also do the needful to stop all these shenanigans 1 Like |

Tough talk. This same dialogue for more than 30 years. Does not fix the problem. The reality is government cannot afford to run universities or has other priorities Nigerians need to ask themselves if they would sacrifice petrol subsidy going into university education. The problem does not affect Buhari,Tinubu, El Rufai or Atiku their children school elsewhere |

The education has been going down for years now,it's nothing new. We still have a lot of university products still doing exceptionally well in their chosen field both in Nigeria and abroad. I totally support the no work no pay policy |

Look at the rubbish coming from the mouth of a supposed minister of education, even if it is for state. These idiots know what ASUU wants, but would rather ignore, and let ignorant Nigerians drag ASUU instead. How come our education budget is so small? Our health budget too? One of the smallest in Africa, and yet we claim giant of Africa. Our lecturers use money from their own personal pockets to bring glory to the university. University of Ibadan is top 500 in the world. The government would be quick to take glory despite only transmitting a very shameful budget. Yet, lawmakers who do absolutely nothing other than say "yay and nay" and gallivant all over the world earn massive amounts in allowances. A professor earns 350,000 naira, and yet has absolutely no access to research grants. It is only in Nigeria. And we wonder why many of our people think "school na scam". 2 Likes 1 Share |

“Our members have been denied payment of new Minimum Wage Consequential Adjustment arrears and backlog of earned allowances in addition to other violations of our rights and privileges. Our universities have been forced to shut down due to the insincerity of the government to keep to its promises.” This has always been. The crux of the matter. ASUU and its fellow mad hatters are fighting only for their pockets. 1 Like |

If every other ministry, Department and agency of govt are embarking on strike the way ASUU do, I wonder how this country will move forward. ASUU should be considerate and go back to school if they really have the interest of Nigerians at heart. 1 Like |

Realist12: ASUU has always been selfish? Do you have an idea how poorly treated our academics have been treated, even when we had a PhD holder as president? You will find a senior lecturer whose job includes teaching, researching, supervising theses, earning about 120,000 (without bonuses). This lecturer has children, has a wife, and all, and yet he has to use his own money to carry out research, and get published in a reputable journal, because his promotion is largely based on that. We want our country to become advanced, and yet we are ignoring our eggheads, and treating them like trash, while our thieving politicians who contribute nothing to society are praised. We can't become like Japan or South Korea or Germany if we don't invest in quality but affordable education. We are not ready to progress in this country. For your information, many of ASUU's grievances have remained unattended to since 2009. Yet, they keep calling off strikes as soon as some commitments are made just for the sake of the students. The government should stop playing hide-and-seek, and attend to ASUU with sincerity of purpose to put an end to incessant strikes. One of ASUU's demands is for university autonomy for at least 5 years to reposition our universities. Successive governments have shown that they do not value education, and this is evident in how low the standards of our education has fallen. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Best method to use on these selfish lecturers whose agitations are not in the interest of the students they exploit. They will eventually get tired and return to classes. The reason they are kicking against IPPS is because it's exposing the corruption in the higher institutions where a lecturer could be teaching in up to 4 government institutions of higher learning depriving others of opportunities even after imposing handouts, materials, textbooks, sorting of courses on students and sexually molesting female students. |

Education system in Nigeria is already dwindling. Even after graduating, no work. Crime rate will keep on increasing sporadically. Truth is, not everyone is inclined to start a business or an enterprise, some will have to be employees. That's the harsh reality of life 1 Like |
