No, let me explain to you.

It was during the Constitutional Amendment. That the Senate passes it doesn't make it law. For the independent candidacy to become law, two-thirds majority of both the Senate and House of Reps must independently assent.

Then it is sent to the 36 States & FCT, of which at least 24 States must say YES to it. It is now returned to the National Assembly who forwards same to the President. His signature makes it law.

The Senate and House of Reps independently assented to it, and it was sent to the States. That's where it is now, as only Abia State has said YES and returned same to the National Assembly.

Why are you arguing this)
I opened the thread here on nairaland and I am telling you how Constitutional Amendments are done.

None has been signed because only Abia State has returned their votes. I am telling you and I am 101% sure of what I am telling you.
That link you shared initially was wrong. Why did they vote for it again from your first link on March 1, 2022 if the President signed in 2018?

In that case I guess the sources are very inconsistent.

He did sign the Not too Young to run bill then but rejected independent candidacy, that's why it came back again.

It is left for the States to do the needful.

NASS just voted in favour of the bill in the last Amendment voting which they are waiting for State Assemblies to act on.

So, as of today, there’s no provision for independent candidacy in the Nigerian (electoral)law.

Even if senate passes an independent bill, the house of representatives must agree to the bill, and then, the both houses would pass the consensus bill to the Executive to also agree and accent to it before it becomes a law.
So, don't come here to tell me that the Senate passed a Bill, and you start to rejoice about it.
What about the response of the house of representatives.??
..
Then, in the Bill you were talking about, it was not an independent bill. It is a bill that is part of the Constitution Amendment. And the process is even longer.
After the Senate and the House of Representatives finished passing the bills and agreeing on a consensus,, the bills are passed to the various states houses of assemblies.
After which the Senate and the House of Representatives gather the bills again before passing to the Executive.
And all these must happen before the expiration of this current Legislative regime,, if not, the next regime of legislature would start the whole processes all over again,, from the very beginning.
..
So, with the situation of things at the moment, there is nothing like independent Candidacy anywhere in Nigeria yet.

You're welcome.
At least,, now that we are in the era of general election,, it means that the whole processes had been suspended already
