Positive report from sonnetpete based in Northern France who is receiving Atlantic bird 7 using a 1.2 meter offset dish, http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/fringe-reception-general/194438-atlantic-bird-7-a-2.html#post1005736

From the Footprint map of Atlantic bird 7 posted below, you shall note that the footprint does not cover France.

The signal quality of Atlantic bird 7 is much better than Nilesat 201 and so far positive response from members in fringe ares around east africa.

Try it out and keep us posted. Footprint maps never gave the real picture on the ground,

@ obnelly and all AB7 is not nailable here in lagos with 2.4 people with 4mtr should try because ab7 is on nile 201 and is elude to us here.
Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Dlee1(m): 7:54pm On Oct 23, 2011
@ All, have any one noticed something about the footprint of AB7? If you watch the footprint closely, you will find out that the footprint meandered away from West Africa. The footprint covered the whole of East Africa where the big brother has no or less customers and in West Africa where they have multitude of their customers, the AB7 footprint meandered away from it simple because they are afraid of loosing their customers and thereby deny us what we suppose to be enjoying freely. I strongly believe that they will not allow any good english speaking channel to cross West African beam on that AB7. I know they are not happy with the existence of MultiTv but they cannot do anything against it. Can you imagine that they are against don**le which this honourable forum is against too and at the same time they never want us to enjoy what other are enjoying freely. No wonder why some people call them Dsthieves.
Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by obnelly: 8:32pm On Oct 23, 2011
Dlee that sounds odd to me, from international forums people are making good comments from france and belgium on this bird.please have you tried to track the bird?Dont jump to final conclusion without doing nothing,if we can get some astra uk ,hispasat,astra19 ,hotbird and astra 1G beams in Nigeria nothing should stop us from this new bird, dont judge by nilesat 201.just try and lets see.

people with motorise please you can feed us to know how far we can go on that new sat.

The fact is that ab7 and all satellite at 7west, that is nilesat 101/101/201 is owned by  egypt, and egypt is a middle-east country and also an arab country.another fact is that the egyptians designed  all satellite at 7west, to be received only by the middle-easts  an all arab countries in africa/asia, i believe that the egyptians is only trying to reach to their brothers the arabs and the middle-east parts of africa and asia, the old bird nilesat 101,atlantic-bird 4a and 102 did not cover all the middle-east parts of africa and asia that includes south sudan and somalia, the error has been corrected from nilesat 201 and atlatic-bird 7 satellites. what do i mean?, any country that don't speak arab or part of the middle-east will be out of the footprint.on the other hand,if you take another close look at ab7  and nilesat201 map, you can see that kenya is lucky to be in the footprint why? cos they extended the footprint to somalia and south sudan which is part of middle-east, and it is impossible to remove kenya out of the footprint and still maintain coverage at south sudan and somalia. it has nothing to do with dstv.it is a middle-east issue.

Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Onto01: 3:19am On Oct 24, 2011
Hi gurus in the house ,i noticed most of the free to air sat. Are position towards the right side of dstv(esp w3,sirius 4) but i saw a dish on a viewing centre's roof positioned towards the left of dstv, facing the sky like w3a.pls what can this sat be and am sure they might got some interestin stuffs like airing live matches(since it's owned by viewin centre).pls what sat can it be?
Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by gadotor(m): 7:03am On Oct 24, 2011
@obnelly How about nigeria who has also more moslims than somalia, there is something wrong with you conclution,if a country is a christian base, then they need more of the channel then somalia, why is kenya getting it,hance because of it,s tourism but not they want to get to somalia.thank you

@ALL what worries me is what the atlantic bird 7 nwa beam i.e, north-west africa footprint they have on their website is meant for. from it's look, a 60cm dish will track it but will it come alive? what will be on it? please prove me by visting the atlantic bird website

Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by twinskenny(m): 10:27am On Oct 24, 2011
Like kungu said, if someone in france with 1.2m offset dish can nail this bird, judging from the foot print some of our guy in the north suppose to hit it with 2.4m and more so our brothers here in lagos shud hit green on 3m good fiber

which one is that?
Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Ibaku(m): 12:03pm On Oct 24, 2011
@twinsk,that footprint above cuts across north-west africa ( nwa ) region. lets wait untill they are done with the middle east-north africa ( mena ) region. Sometimes its not really about the dish size.
Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Dlee1(m): 12:24pm On Oct 24, 2011
@ All, anybody looking foward to track any channel on AB7 in Nigeria that is having its beam on ME NA (Middle East and North Africa) for now with anything less than 3m solid pan is wasting his time. We will only look foward for channels that is going to migrate on North West African beam on that same satellite if at all that any good channel will migrate to NWA beam. Thank you.

@All,
My migration from Badr back to Nilesat was finally concluded over the weekend. As some here will recall, this journey started a few weeks ago but was rudely interrupted with the demise of my stargold lnb just at the point of finishing the installation. I tried several other lnbs including digisat, echosat all to no avail. Thanks to Dejsam in Kano who sent me another stargold 4-way lnb, I'm back to business.

From BADR >>>>>>>> moving back west to NILESAT.

Pictures coming sooooon!

@ auchs, how are you bro? I guess you're doing good. The two satellite are on the same position. Just 0.2 difference. Just try and blind scan the satellite at the position where it is now.

@kungu What hd decoder are you using.thank you
Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Nobody: 3:34pm On Oct 24, 2011
@ d lee
I did a blind scan but i didnt see any of the tp posted by mr kungu. I think the difference you posted above may be the cause because i taught I could get those tp by blind scanning. Another reason may be the size of my dish. This satellite may elude me if care is not taking with my dish size. Moreover, I still need the best tp of this bird to adjust my dish for this bird. D lee I stopped over your office but you where not on sit. Thanks.
