One thing should be noted here, (and i say this with repect to Intelsat NewDawn) all these new satellites will continue to furnish the parts of the world which had been hitherto enjoying the best of fta with the best and those areas which were suffering fta wise when it comes to the goodies will continue to suffer. I await my being proven wrong. That is why I don't give a hoot about any new satellite despite all the noise and xcitement that may be generated with the shifts up down left right with displacements of transponders in the name of new satellites. When are we going to enjoy the use of 65 and 90 cm dishes? , |

@gadator: Ol' boy I am surprised that it would require a private response to a publicly requested post about the type of stb and tracking frequency kungu used to packing AB7! Even if he doesn't reply, gadator my man, I have confidence that you will hit the bird with your Strong stb if you've got a 3m solid dish while using any of the tps he posted. Don't worry. What matters is the requisite dish size for with time others will flood the forum with tracking freqs especially when lyngsat gets active with the sat. And as u usually conclude, Thank you. |

Patience, patience is the key. Those of us outside the foot print will have to be patient to see how events unfold with the launch of AB7 and the M.E beam. Same, I will say about the N.W Africa beam, the day is still too young. The controllers know what to do. Let me ask concerning fringe reception, how long did it take for those receiving sky signal on astra to start doing that? In Gh where I live, what we get was AB4a, no signal from Nilesat is received here but the others received are better. |

gadotor: Good Morning Gadotor, The images i posted are from 2 different satellite receivers. The first pic i posted on Atlantic bird 7 are from the officially MBC HD Technosat hd t-786 satellite receiver, I use the MBC HD Technosat hd t-786 satellite receiver which comes with a smart card to access the MBC HD channels on Nilesat 201 frequency 12188 H DVB-S2 27500-3/4 QPSK The Other images i posted are from Dreamworld 750 HD receiver ( DW750 HD ) Best feature of the receiver, Card sharing, You tube, What i love most of DW750 HD is the blind scan which only takes an average of between 2 to 3 minutes flat on both polarities V & H frequencies from 10700 to 12750. Fastest blind scan satellite receiver i have ever had. Supports all manner of media files. |
Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Kungu(m): 6:17am On Oct 25, 2011 |
obnelly: ood Morning obnelly, From my experience on fringe satellite reception, i have noted that an offset dish of same size to Prime focus will out perform the prime focus dish on Ku band. When initially i tried to get nilesat 104 ( Atlantic 4A ) on a 2.4 meter prime focus dish, i could only pull in 4 transponders from the lower band. Once i upgraded to a 2.4 meter offset dish, i pulled in 25 transponders. Point to note from the reception reports on Atlantic 7 sat in Europe, is that the type of satellite dish used is Offset. |

Kungu, thanks very much.can you shed more líght to how you converted your prime focus dish to offset?I Think prime focus shld be better of because most signal is concentrate at the center and the whole dish is fully illuminated by the satellite while in the case of offset most of the signal is at the bottom of the dish and i think just few parts is illuminated by the satellite. |

sathob: @sathob: I hia u my broda. but mark my words, channels which will be available for the NWA beam from AB7 will be ones from Sudan, S. Sudan, Somali, Eritrea, Ethiopia, and the likes broadcasting totally in arabic. The ones that will be so irksome you'd always want to switch channels. I pray they prove me wrong , |
Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by odilibe(m): 10:59pm On Oct 25, 2011 |
lovala:U are right , but the countries in the NWA beam coverage is likely to rent transponders @ AB7 NWA beam. . the funny part is that the NWA beam has only (12 transponders) while MENA beam has (44 transponders) huge gap. , however the 12 transponders from (NWA BEAM) is for ku band broadband services. what does this mean?Internet services etc. there will be no tv channel on the NWA BEAM |

@All I am skeptical when it comes to new satellite launches bringing 'good news' to us FTA lovers. Look at the hype brought by the dormant New Dawn satellite. Same can be said about AB7. Nothing to smile about for the majority who were dreaming of easy hunting. |
