Let the scouts do their jobs. I dont know any names but Im sure they will come up with something. It doesnt have to be a big name.

fletcher is 27 not 29, d real problem is they are saying he has ulcerative colitis! real nasty disease that is difficult to cure and has seriously debilitating effects on the sufferer, and then d drugs sap d person's energy (guess this explains d frequent unexpected dips in fletcher's form)
Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Premier League Champions 2010/11 by mbulela: 2:39am On Dec 14, 2011
What is ulcerative colitis?

Dr Ian Arnott is a leading specialist in ulcerative colitis. He is a consultant gastroenterologist at the Western General hospital in Edinburgh and the Royal College of Physicians' associate director for the UK-wide, NHS-funded inflammatory bowel disease audit.

"Ulcerative colitis can be a very disabling condition and leaves people weak, tired, frustrated and lacking energy. It can change people's lives completely. They can't be very far from the toilet so aren't able to go out very much. Patients tell me that when they go to a nearby town or city, they know exactly where every toilet is, because they often get very little warning about needing to go to the toilet. It can mean that people have accidents with their bowel motions. It's an embarrassing condition — it's a difficult subject to talk to people about.

"It is a serious inflammation of the large bowel, which is better-known as the colon. Where it should be pink, smooth and nice it becomes red, weepy and unhappy — it looks like you've taken the skin off your knee. The main symptoms are diarrhea, blood in stools, stomach pains and feeling rotten. It goes up and down. You will have good periods of remission when you feel normal — that can be a month or even a few years — and bad periods when you feel dreadful and can be forced to go to the toilet six, eight or ten times a day around the clock, including two or three times a night. If you can imagine having food poisoning and that going on for weeks on end, rather than days, that's what it's like.

"It's quite a common condition. If you take ulcerative colitis together with Crohn's disease, which has similar symptoms, they are known together as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). One in 200 people in the UK develop IBD, so around 300,000 have that. Young people aged between ten and 40 get it.

"It's not a curable condition unless you have an operation. With surgery you take the colon out completely. People often need an external bag to collect their faeces, though some people get an internal pouch which lets them go to the toilet normally. So you wouldn't have surgery unless you had to. However, one-third of patients end up having an operation to remove their colon at some point in their lives.

"The cause of colitis is unknown. It's genetic to some extent, but less than with Crohn's disease, but something unknown in the environment comes along and sets it off. It could be food, atmospheric pollution or stress — no one really knows what it is. It could be all of them."

Fletchie's gist comes as a shock; must be very gutting for the young man and saddening for MUFC as a whole. . . . .probably this why there was so much reluctance to feature him. I hope Berbatov doesn't have his own surprise news coming up too.

Anyways, I guess this along with the many injuries gives us a chance to really promote some of this so much hyped youngsters we've been hearing about. I still maintain, no panic-buying in January; see the season out, buy with brain and start on a fresh page!

Feel sorry for Fletcher
Hope he recovers soon
Just realise we shouldn't all take good health for granted

That is d issue. I know United fans have grown accustomed to winning all d time and want nothing short of that at all costs. But I still think it is smarter to give our highly rated youngsters a chance, after all we will eventually have to them play one day, else they will leave like Rossi, Pique, Shawcross e.t.c. If they don't work then we go into d main transfer window with a better picture of first team squad and d potential prospects in d reserves, allowing us to make better and more informed decisions then.

Why go scouring d south American, Siberian and Scandinavian leagues for higher risk and potential dud signings and then miss out on d real quality this summer. In January d biggest available players are d Charlie Adams, Cahill's, Carroll's and co. Are these really d sort of players we need for d long haul. With d Euro 2012, no team with any half decent participating player will be willing to sell in January.

But if the much vaunted youngsters arent ready, ( like SAF obviously thinks) pushing them in now could do more harm than good to their development. If they are ready SAF is not one to hold youngsters back, NEVER. If they can identify the right players in January at reasonable prices then they have to buy. if not them we are walking a huge tight rope as we're down to the bare bones.

they are ready. . . .we don't play them enough for them to form any team chemistry with one another.
fergie should look at barcelona and how they bed in their young players.
Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Premier League Champions 2010/11 by Effiko(m): 1:45pm On Dec 14, 2011
how will we know if de youngsters are ready ?? is it by buying shares 4 dem on de bench ?? . . . i really think SAF should at least try sum ov dem out
Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Premier League Champions 2010/11 by MrTA(m): 2:07pm On Dec 14, 2011
Its really difficult with youngsters, not all of them have the same development trajectory. Fryers looks like he could be ready as he's looked solid every time ive seen him. Pogba and Morrison haven't looked like much in the first 2 outings but its still early days. They could be special but if they are thrown in too soon it could also harm them and set them back. Morrison i think is ahead but Pogba doesnt look ready to me, in the limited time Ive seen him anyways. I imagine the coaching staff who see them regularly will know better.
Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Premier League Champions 2010/11 by chamotex(m): 3:28pm On Dec 14, 2011
The only one I can point out to be ready is Morrison. To me, if that kid gets game time, he could turn out to be something special . . . not immediately but in the long run. He is confident and fearless.

I dont think Pogba is ready but I can see him holding is own in a 3 man CM.

Another option will be to recall Ryan Tunnicliffe from his loan spell at Peterbrough. He sorts of remind me of a young Roy Keane.

We also have Matty James . . . played well for Preston on loan last year before Fergie recalled him after Darren Ferguson was sacked.

Davide Petrucci is another exciting prospect but he hasn't had luck with injuries.

Those are the midfield youngsters we have as options.
Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Premier League Champions 2010/11 by montelik(m): 3:29pm On Dec 14, 2011
I am not saying they should be starting every game. I am saying now that injuries are costing us players in positions, what is d harm in naming these guys on d bench, just in case. And then bringing them on when d game is in a comfortable position. Give Pogba, Fryers and Morrison d open bench positions created by d injury crises and if opportunity arises, play them and see. Ideally if we had a fully fit squad I wouldn't want to see these guys near d first team (they should be out on loan playing regularly), but now that the situation isn't ideal give them a chance. Sometimes you have to drop them in and then hope they make d improvement after. Fletcher was not by any means ready when he was brought up at d start of 03/04, but eventually his actual play caught up with his ability. If you can't even put these guys on d bench during an injury crisis, what message does that send to them. It will just make them leave like Guiseppe Rossi did.
Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Premier League Champions 2010/11 by mbulela: 4:45pm On Dec 14, 2011
what is the update on Pogba's contract talks?
I hear he has not been anything special this season unlike last year (according to folks who see reserve games).
anyone seen Reserve gamesand can comment further?

Have you heard of Lalabanjo Alakori? He's currently on loan at Foresthill FC. I heard he's the best thing since choco milo and milk. grin
Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Premier League Champions 2010/11 by RuuDie(m): 5:53am On Dec 15, 2011
I think slowly we are gonna see some of these guys being drafted in. Fryers almost certainly has one foot in the first team already. . . . .the others (especially the midfielders) better start preparing themselves for first-team action because as long as that the injury list keeps adding up, we've got nowhere else to turn to.
The only man I would have loved UTD to have bought, be it at January, July or whenever is Scott Parker and he is already off the market. . . . . .Ryan Tunnicliffe seems an appealing prospect - because, seriously, we need some 'zobo' eyed men in that middle, I mean real, raw steel!

Morrison was not in the reserve team that beat Liverpool 4-0 tonight . . .I'm only guessing it means he is in the squad for the weekend.
Even Gibson came off injured

We have to beat QPR and then relax and watch City go against Arsenal. I will be an ARSE fan on sunday grin especially after we beat QPR.

The issue is, who will play in the middle, Carrick, Park and Giggs,[sub] some pple will blow a gasket now[/sub]. grin Except Fergie reinvents something new.

Those 3 points are gonna be precious.
