It won’t be right to suggest that Tinubu has no primary or secondary education. He surely does, at least, judging by his ability to talk and engage in a largely cerebral manner. The real issue is around his inability/failure to reveal the names of his past schools. Why is it difficult to tell the world where he had his primary and secondary education? Something is obviously not right and we don’t need anyone to tell us otherwise.

When an individual begins prevarication on an otherwise easy task, just know that something is fishy. Information around educational background is usually one of the easiest tasks that individuals can engage in. An acclaimed First class graduate from a prestigious institution like the Chicago University, is perhaps the last person who should struggle to provide basic information on his past academic journey. No one has asked necessarily asked that certificates relating to each of the levels of education be submitted.

The ONLY ASK are the names of the primary and secondary schools attended by this acclaimed First class university graduate (by his supporters) but it appears difficult to supply. It is even more intriguing when one realises that this so called First class graduate did not study beyond his first degree, meaning that he does not have to travel further backwards (just two steps backwards actually) to give the names of his past schools but it is difficult to do.

My father would be 89 year in about 3 months and he will give you a graphic description of his educational journey from his primary school at St. Stephen’s primary school, up until he bagged his PhD at the University of Exeter in 1977 at the age of 44. (Whenever he shares his experience at the primary school, you would think the events happened only a few years back). He will also gladly list all the short courses he attended and where. And he wasn’t even a first class student!

How come our Chicago trained, first class accountant cannot give the names of his primary and secondary schools? The answer is simple: there is something shady about that past. Don’t blame me, don’t blame anyone, for reaching this conclusion. Anyone that stands for public office, especially the highest possible in the country, should know he would be scrutinised and his first line of defence is never to give his interrogators any lead to pursue. Sadly, this is not the case in this situation. Something is obviously not right and I shudder at the thoughts that it may just well be another baggage Nigeria must contend with for another set of 4 to 8 years. Why is this country just damn unlucky?!

Understandbly, several supporters of our dear presidential candidate are already up in arm, blowing hot and cold, attacking and cursing anyone who dares to make issues out of the situation. Let us not mind them. Many of them have become like programmed robots who can no longer engage with reality in an intelligent way. They will defend any nonsense for as long as it their candidate. They will tell accuse you of hatred and envy without pausing for a second to think about the concerns their candidate may be raising. To them, the definition of a patriotic Nigerian is to be stupeeed and never question anything about this “God-given”, “God-sent” messiah who has the midas touch to change nigeria within a short time. Anything outside that understanding and acceptance to them, is an anathema.

Well, this is another round of emerging affliction that we must learn to contend with as a nation. We will surely survive it
