While I have no grudge against the drink and I also do drink alcohol moderately, I beg to totally disagree with the way and manner the article presents its case for the health benefits of this drink. This is not a properly written article.

Odogwu Bitters is a recreational alcoholic based drink. It should be left at that. If left at that I will not mind. However, it would be very dangerous and a disservice to the public if we promote the consumption of this drink based on false claims and pseudo-science on its health benefits. None of the research works were properly cited. Additionally, just because garlic is added into alcohol does not immediately mean such a combination is fully beneficial. Such joint action combination could be synergistically toxic to a large degree. Something could be good for blood pressure but harmful/toxic to other organs.

If this drink is to be proven to be beneficial health wise, then it should be subjected to full research in its complete form. Proper double blind research in its pure form with adequate controls. Otherwise, let us leave it that it is an alcoholic drink with herbal extracts with the likely effect of improving libido. Simple. High libido does not equate overall health.

My advice to the public is DRINK ANY ALCOHOLIC DRINK AND EVEN WATER RESPONSIBLY.
