IMHO I think that the concept of hell fire is not compatible with a Just God. How can somebody live for 70 to 80 year and be subjected to an eternity of fiery torture? I don't believe that there is hellfire, but if i did it would be a wicked thing for me to have kids knowing that there is that chance no matter how remote that one or all of them might be sentenced to hell. |

@ Dorox I love your comment, very funny though. It is a shame that Nigerians are one of the most religious people on the planet, and yet our land languish in sorrow, poverty and all sorts of barbaric activities of mankind. I fear a lot of non-secular people didn't even bother to educate themselves on how their religion started. I bet you sacred people point fingers and call some organization cultic, look inward to the history of most religion, I bet you will be surprised. Remember as a kid your Parents threaten you with Hell if you do anything wrong and in most cases it worked but as you got older you didn't believe it entirely and then you learned later in life that its just a Story to try to stop you as kid from doing the wrong thing, now that you are grown up and you have been Educated and read all there is about religion and how it s been used to control the minds of many for millions of years. Just look at all the different Views of the one thing they call God, which I believe is and Imaginary Person for grown ups, just as Fairy's are to kids when they loose a tooth. I read how People in 3rd World Country's pray to God for help but you must remember if you want some thing done by an imaginary person it will never happen, you have to do it yourself. |

The fear of hell or the lack of fear of hell is irrelevant. In my opinion hell is a redundant issue as it has no rational or tangible effect on human existence. Whether it's real or not is a theological - Scientific argument. People should live their lives to the fullest, impacting positively on the lives of others with love, kindness, equity and plain old common sense!  |

Hell as a place of torment is not real. God told our first parents who should be the greatest of all sinners since they were perfect that their punishment was death (Genesis 3:1() Remember when Jehovah created the earth, everything he saw was good! There was nothing called hell. The word hell is a mistranslation of some bible words such as hades which in Greek language means grave and also Gehenna which was a rubbish dump outside Jerusalem which tey used sulfur to burn rubbish. The king james translation always translated this as Hell which is wrong. God is love. the wages sin pays is death! Also read 1 Thess 1:8,9 The Lake of Fire means the second death. Death is the opposite of life(Eccl 9:5). The lake of fire stands for everlasting destruction. There is no resurrection for those in the Lake of Fire. From the posts on this thread, it has become clear that the concept of hell is having the expected effect. We have people expressing a confident fear of an unknown place based on poor and contradictory information. Just take the time and think for a minute. Where is God? He used to be in the sky (which is why Jesus ascended into the sky) but he has lately emigrated to someplace outside the universe where he cannot be touched. I guess that is where Jesus with his physical body is moving to (despite the fact that a physical body cannot get to the "edge" of the universe to make it out). Where is the Devil? He used to live in the ground but now that we've discovered that the earth is approximately spherical, he too has migrated out of there to some undisclosed location along with his hell. I just wonder how long it will take for these hell believers to realize certain facts about the universe? |

To be realistic, the word "HELL" simply means GRAVE, PIT e.t.c and the hebrew word is spelt SHEOL and the greek word HADES. So if you ask does Hell exist? According to the latest theology, he is "outside" the universe and controls things that happen within the universe except of course human will. The devil? God is merciful. to believe in hell is to believe He is wicked. i believe in heaven but i dont think hell exist. believers will make heave6 but unbelievers will die and cease to exist. i think d whole idea of eternally burning hell is as a result of mistakes when translating the bible from its original language into english |
