lol....So by not granting 100% wage increment for ASSU is what you call "educational rot"?

So by filling the pockets of university teachers their won't be educational rot?

ASSU na just thieves!

Salary is only one of the many demands of ASUU. make out time to read about them before making unreasonable comments here.

I support ASSU 100 %. Why should a professor with over 20 years teaching and research experience earn less than 12 million per annum? If the government refuses to pay then let the universities remain shut for the foreseeable future

why should they? What have these professors don in the last 30yrs to deserve a 100% increase?

ASUU Rejects 35% Salary Increase For Professors; Wants 100% - Education - Nairaland

Me:

I stand with the Oppressed University Lecturers, the Federal Government should at least increase their salary by 100%.

Civilization is built on knowledge and Teachers are the dispensers of knowledge. The ancient barbarians do not respect Teachers and that was why they remained uncivilized. All Nigerian Teachers, including Primary and Secondary School Teachers should have 100% increase in salary.

The failed Nigerian system that was deliberately skewed against the poor and downtrodden has failed Nigerians. A system that prioritize our useless Lawmakers over a University Professor can not bring the much needed progress and development. The monthly Newspaper allowances of a Lawmaker is 3× the salary of a Professor.

We are into the 7th month of the ASUU Strike. The useless Buhari regime that is notorious in negotiating and satisfying the wishes of #BokoHaram terrorists and murderous armed bandits refused to sincerely negotiate with the University Lecturers.

The politicians without brains collect millions upon millions of naira every month as allowances, many of them with secondary school certificate and even primary school certs. President Buhari is one example. Lecturers deserve more.

ASSU can deceive you and themselves all they want, But we the Nigeria people knows their real demands. Their only demand is salary, salary, their pockets, their pockets. Because that's all they care about. Not the students, not our children and certainly not our educational sector.

So stop being too gullible about ASSU and their demands.

I laugh at people who compare Nigerian public universities to that of the British or the Americans
You pay little tuition fees and expect world-class quality education like your counterparts overseas who pay thousands of dollars and owe thousands of dollars due to student loans
Keep dreaming
We better face reality that if we desire world-class tertiary education, we have to pay more

Take it or leave it grin

Nigerians please keep dreaming. You want quality University education and people going there wants to pay peanuts because government should fund it? If you want world class Universities in Nigeria, it will not be government that will fund it, take it or leave it. Basic universal education: Primary and Secondary is what the government has the responsibility to make compulsory and available to every Nigerians. That is where the majority of education funding should be going. You want Nigeria Oxford or Cambridge, students sponsors should pay for it. That is why these two schools and others in its categories are world class. ASUU will continue to go on strike because government cannot fund the Universities to world class, it is not possible except every other things will shut down!
