iCauseTrouble:dull brain, your calculation is the the reason why but the average and the rich now look for better education outside nigeria. And stop jumping to countries who sacrifice everything for their education. The money some countries earn via education can be used to pay all nigeria agency . Two sanators monthly take home if care is not taken can pay the salary of a particular nigeria university lecturers. Stop celebrating mis-management |

Beer parlour blackmail is this present administration trademark. Believe this concocted and disjointed pieces at your own peril. Trying by all means to who up sentiment against ASUU. ASUU demands among others, salary is the least item. Never has ASUU demanded 50%, not to mentioned 100% salary increase. The Government should simply honours the agreement reached with ASUU of which the present Administration, developed with applicable timeline memorandum of Action for implementation which they have since reneged on. Govt is continue..... The lame excuse being giving by this Govt is unassailable. Ironically, you have money to dole out to Niger Republic, Afghanistan and profligacy adventures that have benefit to the country. 1 Like |

iCauseTrouble:How is it unrealistic? What do our lawmakers do to warrant millions of naira monthly as salary and benefits? Lecturers and professors deserve it more, that is if we want a stable educational system devoid of malpractice and sorting. Abeg |

iCauseTrouble:Unrealistic you said. Why is it unrealistic? How can a senator be earning 20m a month with further allowances while a Professor earns less than 1m? If other government workers are dumb and cannot demand what's due them how is it the fault of ASUU? When people are looting funds in billions and trillions you are asking legitimate salary earners to be realistic. Leave that talk. 1 Like |

Jovialjune1:Great idea. There was a "documented installment agreement" in 2013. Spread 1.3Tr across 5 years (220B annually). Only the 2014 tranche was released. That is the core issue that led to this strike. B/w 2015 & 2022, FG has not released a second tranche, leading to the strike. I agree 100% with your idea, but will the next cycle of politicians honour their words? That's the fear. 1 Like |

ASUU will still accept the offer stylishly, it won't make sense for them to just admit straight, they are tired too. |

iCauseTrouble:A General in the Army (equivalent of a Prof) earns 3M. Entry level at NNPC, FIRS, EFCC, CBN earn b/w 200k - 350k. New Professor earns 322k while Professor at bar (20-30yrs) earns 416k, yet "ASUU own too much"? So how much is the realistic amount in you opinion for academic? Let's be fair. 1 Like |

Oziens: All this ground standing is because of the election, once it is over now everyone will keep quiet, they want their own share. The money some university make can run a small country, the management in the various universities is a bigger problem, even if they are given the money right now, they will pockets it and request for more, they are no better than the politicians. 1 Like |

Tb222:1. Revitalization of Universities 2. Increase in salaries (that has been stagnant for 13yrs) 3. Stop university proliferation (i.e mushroom universities) 4. Release of report on how the funds earlier released to VC's for revitalization were expended 5. Payment of Earned Academic Allowance (EAA, owed for 8 years)and recruitment of more Lecturers to mitigate (EAA) 6. Continuous monitoring of funds released by FG so as to check excesses of VCs (since ASUU lacks the legit power to do so). I hope this becomes yusful. 2 Likes |

Tb222: I pitty those who believe that ASUU is fighting a just cause Ones politicians increase their allowances, ASUU will go on strike and comparing their salaries with that of politicians using that to affect the future of the students Politicians have limited time to spend office, ASUU are civil servants that have 35 to 40 years in service. It is wrong for us to be comparing the take home of local government chairman With that of a professor 2 Likes |
