ASUU should take the 35% and see if they can reach a deal with the new government coming in. Enough is enough. The stupid government wont bulge neither would they summit a bill to force you guys back to work while negotiations continue. This is not only affecting students and staff but other miscellaneous staff that depend on students to survive like all the mamaputs . |

FG is playing politics with Education as usual like they played politics with security. Unfortunately, they met their match. FG have proven to be incompetent, bereft of the tiniest of compassion and they are definitely lost, clueless and a big failure. They deliberately and they are intentionally allowing this strike to linger so that they can hand over their irresponsibilities to the next administration while feeding fat on months of unclaimed salaries of ASUU and other University based Unions for the period of strikes. They rode upon the wings of anti-corruption facade to power, now, they have impersonified corruption and taken it to another level. Security has become an utopia dream thanks to the effontry and boldness of marauding killer herdsmen, Boko Haram and bandits. They have sank trillion into refineries that have not produced a single litre of oil while paying 1500 refineries workers a staggering 180billion yearly as salaries. Their AGF, ministers, staffers have been involved in looting 100s of billion from national coffers and even from IPPIS with reckless abandon like we have a paper tiger C in C. While they keep increasing their salaries and bonuses daily, they keep salaries of workers at the mercies of higher inflation. No one will support this administration without sounding stupid. Now our students, our children have been at home for close to a year now and they keep using hunger to break the will of the workers who keep producing the human capital that can make this country great besides oil and taxations jist because their children don't attend those schools. They keep our hospitals in dismally poor position whole they fly to UK at the slighest symptoms of headache. These government must be given red card and shown their way out in this coming elections and we must give individual that will appoint credible individuals into positions. APC and PDP are cancers that must be rooted out of our system because they are brothers of the same mother. 1 Like 1 Share |

What most Nigeria working class Lacks is a good and sound functional Brian. Majority of Nigerian civil servants doesn't know that they should be demanding 175% increase in their salaries to cushions the effect of inflation in the country. Nigerian inflation is above 180% hence the salary of Nigerian worker is totally useless, cannot even sustain feeding talkless of others expenditures 1 Like |

Roger3D:why not resign and look for other jobs? If your current job isn't paying you as expected, the honorable thing to do is to resign and find a high paying job. If they want the salaries of Shell, Agip and Mobil staff they should resign and job oil companies, if they want the wages of a politician they should resign and join politics let's see how far they can go. After all their professorship for over 60 years has brought nothing meaningful to Nigeria. ASU must understand that if FG mistakenly give in to their demand other sector of the economy would come for theirs. This is why I must say it loud " ASU's demands are unrealistic" they are university teachers. How much is the salary of a medical doctor? Judges? Directors? ASU na thieves! 1 Like |

I see many people here still saying ASUU own too much. I don't know Africans are just like this! What has that 35% nonsense got to do with value for education? It is still not comparable to the unnecessary and needless waste that go into cost of governance!! Did anyone fight last week before they increased SA and other government officials allowances??! Why is it easy for them to increase salaries of politicians in contrast to others? A professor cannot boast before a councillor in Nigeria. What ASUU is fighting for will benefit me and you futuristically one day. They will not remain there as Lecturers. They'll die and the young ones will continue from there. If education becomes lucrative today in Nigeria, the rush to join politics will reduce since education will run side by side with it. This is one of the things ASUU wants to happen. Our youths don't even read again because they know if they get one political office tomorrow, professor will prostrate before them. Honestly, education is suffering serious underfunding in Nigeria. We must begin to value knowledge and brains with economic empowerment. Imagine me as an academic going to farm everyday in this strike when I'm supposed to be putting one ground breaking research into writing that will benefit the society. A white man will focus on his research in his lab because his government will provide him with everything he needs to make him comfortable and to not bother so that he can pursue his research. He even has grants that will feed him and his family till death. Here, we do research in hunger. No full concentration. We go dey do side hustle join. And when the govt announce 35% increase and ASUU rejects, Nigerians start empathizing with this evil govt. O ga o 1 Like |

Timmi:I agree, with the depression Nigerian lecturers make mee and thousands of students face, I would never support them. They do absolutely NOTHING. I live abroad now and these lecturers also earn little but their impact could easily be felt in the society and as a student, all I want is to continue schooling. They make life so easy,I can decide not to go to school with filmsy excuses and they will understand, that doesn't deterr my learning and evenake me healthier and learn betterr because its not a forced learning but the type I enjoy. If internet is down, they will consider us and redo classes for us,if theress traffic same. But in Nigeria, I remember when there was Nasu strike, and no bus to take uss to class, a stupid lecturer who hass a car/driver and was able to navigate her way went ahead to conduct exam, only those who uses car were able to write the test and many of us couldn't as we never knew Nasu would start strike and we already planned out timing to the faculty. That day, I ran like aa mad dog from the University gate to thee faculty (very far), and yet he conducted the test. I can't even count the numbers of frustration and useless assignments. Poo,i will have my womb removed than to allow my child school in that useless country called Nigeria |

I thought students should start making their own demands too like 1. They should lower tuition fees in most of our federal and state owned tertiary institutions. 2. Upgrade the standard of hostels. 3. These lecturers should stop forcing handouts on students. It has made education very expensive. And even if they have to, it should be at affordable rate. Well, students know their wahala. They should speak for themselves. |

Jovialjune1: The 2009 agreement specified Re-negotiation every three years. That has not been done for 13 years now due to FG double standards. So, 100% only in 13 years is a very reasonable demand. It takes care of the past |
